Fire II (also known as Fire 2 in the SNES/PS version) is the sixth Tech learned by Lucca, and one of Magus's starting Techs in Chrono Trigger. Deals Fire damage to all enemies, and it consumes 8 MP. It is also an enemy skill.
Animation[]
As Lucca spins, a line of fire spins around her. She raises her arms and the fire spreads out in a red circle that explodes, sending out smoke.
Enemy Tech[]
This Tech can be used by enemies too, namely King Dalton, Once-King Dalton, Spekkio's fourth and fifth forms and Crimson Shade. The animation sequence is the same as when Lucca uses it.
Name Origin[]
The Japanese name for this Tech: Firaga (ファイガ, faiga), is identical to the fire spell from the Final Fantasy series.
However, the main difference is that in Final Fantasy it is usually the third and strongest of all fire spells, while the technique in Chrono Trigger is merely the second. being Flare, the strongest fire spell.
This point is often a source of confusion for fans of both series, as Flare in Final Fantasy, unlike Chrono Trigger, is generally his non-elemental spell, meaning a spell that has no element, even though it his visual animation in most games is a fiery explosion.
