The Hakeashar is a creature that will only appear when summoned by a wizard. It will not attack the wizard who summoned it, but it will instantly move to attack the nearest wizard in its line of sight, as it feeds on the energies surrounding and used by wizards.
The creature does not make use of a physical attack. Instead, each time it touches the wizard, wrapping its tendrils around the target, two things will occur:
- All magical items with charges in the possession of the target will be drained by one charge, destroying them if only one charge was left
- If the target has memorized Wizard spells, they will lose one random spell of the highest level currently memorized
Gameplay[]
- Highly resistant to magic and many spells can actually heal it
- Immune to normal weapons
- Can be banished by using a priest's or wizard's version of Dispel Magic or by Remove Magic, or by Death Spell and Death Fog
- If any other spell is targeted on a hakeashar, it will apply a Cure Light Wounds on the creature
- Unlike the Nishruu, the Hakeashar cannot See the invisible, nor is it immune to the spell Lower Resistance. These differences are most likely an omission by the creature developers.

With the Sword Coast Stratagems mod, a Nishruu and Hakeashar can be destroyed with three specific spells other than Death Spell. Both can be slain by Dispel Magic (priest), Dispel Magic (wizard) and Remove Magic. Other forms of Dispel magic won't work, such as the Inquisitor Dispel magic innate ability.
The Spell Revisions mod, for all intents and purposes removes the Hakeashar from the game, because it replaces that with its own version of the Nishruu. The spell Summon Hakeashar is replaced by Summon Nishruu (which SR changes and makes a level 7 spell).
