The Wartwood's mayoral elections are the annual elections in which Wartwood Swamp citizens and amphibians across the Valley vote to elect the mayor of Wartwood, and in turn, candidates go through different challenges to win the support of citizens.
Overview[]
Wartwood's mayoral elections are held after a specific period of time that a mayor has held office, and are open to Wartwood citizens and residents in the rest of the Valley. Those who wish to run for mayor must register by depositing a ballot with their name on it in a nomination box. Candidates must campaign within Wartwood and the rest of the Valley to win the support of locals and residents in the rest of the Valley. Candidates must also go through four different challenges to win the support of the voters. Once the challenges are completed, voters must vote for a candidate, and when all the votes from the town and the rest of the Valley are finally cast, they will be counted and the new mayor of Wartwood will be selected. The results are announced on the central podium at the town center.
The four challenges that the candidates will have to face are the following:
- Beetle wrangling: The first challenge features candidates who each try to dominate the Rhino Beetle which is set loose from its cave after being drawn out with a special trumpet. The first one to claim the beetle and sit atop it wins.
- Chick parenting: The second challenge takes candidates to a bird's nest where contestants are required to study and figure out what the baby birds require. The candidate who successfully satisfies and calms the birds down wins.
- Survival and navigation: The third challenge calls for candidates to be dropped into the middle of a forest and forced to find their way home. The first contestant to navigate his way back to Wartwood wins.
- Boxing tournament: The fourth and final challenge is a boxing tournament between the mayoral candidates. The first contestant to knock out his rival wins.
Background[]
Mayoral elections in Wartwood have been held for a long time. At present time, Frodrick Toadstool has been the candidate who has run for office the most and won, as well as being the only candidate, given the reputation as leaders that the Toads have.[1]
For the 2019 elections, Toadstool at first is the only one running for office, however, Hop Pop ends up also running thanks to encouragement from the people, being the first rival for Toadstool in a long time. In the three tests that both must pass, Hop Pop ends up beating Toadstool, which worries him, so he decides to take action. Toadstool bribes Hop Pop to lose the fourth and last test on purpose, and in return, he will give him back his vegetable stand and put it all over the market center, which Hop Pop can't resist. In the last test, Hop Pop does not try very hard to beat Toadstool, as they had agreed the night before, but seeing the hope and encouragement of the people for him to win, he decides to fight for real and ends up beating Toadstool in the test. After counting the votes, Albus Duckweed is in charge of giving the results of the election, and declares Toadstool again the winner with 22,000 votes from the rest of the valley, while Hop Pop gets 88 votes of 100% of Wartwood, since he did not campaign in the rest of the valley not knowing that there was also voting.[1]
For the 2020 election, Toadie runs for office, while Toadstool finally decides to take a backseat, although he helps Toadie get votes with bribes. Toadie subsequently wins the election.[2]

Trivia[]
- Votes are also taken from amphibians who live across the Valley.[1]
- In the epilogue in "The Hardest Thing", it's indicated that Toadie became mayor through the election. Since the epilogue takes place about a year after the events of "Hop-Popular", it can be assumed that elections take place annually.
