The Gorgon is a Grineer light machine gun standard issue to Heavy Gunners and Grineer Wardens, and wielded by Lieutenant Lech Kril. It has a small spool-up period during which it fires slowly, before reaching its maximum fire rate.
Characteristics[]
- This weapon deals primarily Impact damage.
- Requires a spool-up of 9 shots before optimal fire rate is achieved.
- Fire rate starts at 20% of its listed value, and increases by 10.667% per shot.
- Burst firing maintains spool-up.
- Can use the Gorgon-exclusive Metamorphic Magazine mod.
- Can use the Gorgon-exclusive Gorgon Frenzy mod (Conclave only).

Notes[]
Incarnon Genesis[]
- Upon completion of The Duviri Paradox and Angels of the Zariman, and unlocking The Steel Path, players can earn Gorgon Incarnon Genesis from The Circuit's Steel Path to place on their Gorgon with the help of Cavalero in the Chrysalith. This Incarnon Genesis form grants it evolutions to a transformation and newfound strength.
Evolution[]
- Installing the Gorgon Incarnon Genesis requires 20 Pathos Clamps, 60 Rune Marrow, and 60 Tasoma Extract.
- When installed, the first Evolution tier is unlocked. The following Evolution tiers, their requirements for unlocking them, and their related perks, are shown below;
- Each challenge additionally grants 5,000 affinity to the weapon, affected by Affinity Boosters.
Evolution I[]
- Weakpoint hit charge Incarnon Transmutation; Alt Fire transmutes. Switching back will expend any remaining charge.
- Fire embedding projectiles that explode with Heat Damage
- Incarnon Form shoots a time-delayed explosive projectile, dealing a spread of Impact, Puncture, and Slash damage upon impact. After a short delay, it detonates with an explosion radius of 5 meters, dealing Heat damage with guaranteed Heat status, but has linear Damage Falloff from 100% to 90% from central impact.
- Mode switching is not instantaneous and has an animation equal to the weapon's reload speed.
- Incarnon Form is activated by filling the Incarnon Transmutation gauge that appears under the reticle by achieving weakpoint hits and then pressing the Alternate Fire button. 30 weakpoints will completely fill the gauge. A full gauge is not required to activate Incarnon Form.
- Charges do not generate on the backpacks of most MOA variants, or vulnerability spots generated by Sonar or Detect Vulnerability in places other than actual weakpoints.
- Weakpoints on corpses or Invulnerable targets do not build charges.
- Individual Multishot bullets can build charges.
- Instead of drawing ammunition from its reserves, the Gorgon's Incarnon Form uses a separate "magazine" with each charge producing 0.66 rounds to a maximum of 20. Once all ammunition is expended, the Gorgon reverts to its normal form.
- Incarnon Form's magazine is not affected by mods.
- Incarnon Form is not affected by Ammo Efficiency (such as Energized Munitions).
- Charges and Incarnon Form persists through all activities, such as holstering, bleedout, or being disarmed. However, charges and Incarnon Form are removed upon death.
- Swapping to and from Incarnon Form will fully reload the normal form's magazine.

Tips[]
- After the spool up time, it is possible to use the Gorgon in quick short bursts, allowing you to keep up the high rate of fire, but with less recoil and fewer bullets wasted, making the Gorgon usable at medium to medium-long ranges.
- You can retain the 'charge' of the fire rate by sprinting. This way the weapon stops shooting but as long as you keep the fire button held down, the fire rate will not reset and the weapon will resume fast firing once you stop sprinting.
- Use the Rifle Ammo Mutation mod or the Carrier Sentinel equipped with Ammo Case to compensate for lost ammo due to the weapon's high rate of fire consuming ammunition on full spool.
- Speed Trigger decreases the spool-up time considerably, though the increased maximum fire rate causes the weapon to burn through ammo reserves extremely quickly. Consider firing in bursts.
- Stabilizer can be used to reduce recoil and make the weapon more steady.
Trivia[]
- In Greek mythology, there are three Gorgons (Γοργών); Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa. Their hair was made of living snakes, and Medusa could turn people into stone by making eye contact.
- The word Gorgon (Γοργώ) is derived from the Greek word "gorgós," meaning "dreadful".
- Before Update 11.0 (2013-11-20), General Sargas Ruk used it as his primary weapon.
- The box on the right side of the trigger is the magazine, as seen in the current reload animation.
- The Gorgon appears to use a motor-driven feed system and action as there is a sound akin to a motor spinning down when the trigger is released. This may also explain the need to spool up before it reaches the full fire rate.
- As of around Update 12.4 (2014-03-05), the Gorgon's sound effects have been updated. It does not appear to have the spooling down sound effect anymore.
- Grineer Heavy Gunners have "High damage minigun" written directly on their weapons, although the Gorgon is a light machine gun.
- The words appear just above the trigger, translating to "Not Touc", most likely "Do not touch" with some letters rubbed out.
- The words can be found on the side of the barrel, near the end of the gun translating to "Big Hurt FP4337".
- This weapon was removed from the market in Update 10.3 (2013-10-09), and its blueprint was only available from Login Rewards tier 2 and 3 prior to Update 18.0 (2015-12-03). In Hotfix: Specters of the Rail 1.1 (2016-07-29) it was added as a drop to the Arid Heavy Gunner.
- The Arid Heavy Gunner's Gorgon deals mostly Slash rather than Impact.
- It has the second slowest reload speed of all primary rifles, after Trumna.
