Zeta is a major character in the comedic dark fantasy light novel series, The Eminence in Shadow. She is the seventh member of Shadow Garden and holds the sixth seat of the Seven Shadows, specializing in exploration and espionage.
Possessing one of the darkest backgrounds and hardened minds among Shadow Garden's membership, Zeta has grown to believe that the organization under Alpha's leadership is far too restrained in its methods. Due to this, she founded a secret dissenter faction that aims to summon Diablos in order to grant Shadow immortality and have him rule the world, ideally preventing any groups like the Cult of Diablos from rising ever again. She doesn't seem to realize that this plan would ultimately make Shadow Garden just as bad as the aforementioned cult.
Appearance[]
Zeta is a therianthrope originating from the Golden Leopard clan, possessing long blonde hair with cat ears, a long tail, pale skin and purple eyes. She normally wears a customary Shadow Garden slime suit uniform with an added cape and jacket. She bears a striking resemblance to her ancestor, the hero Lily.
Personality[]
Zeta is very quiet, reserved and calculating compared to other therianthropes and most Shadow Garden members. She usually prefers to work alone, but will make use of allies when necessary. Due to her horrific past even compared to other members of Shadow Garden, she has a unique degree of hatred for the Cult of Diablos. Unlike the rest of Shadow Garden who want to eliminate anything related to the cult and their ambitions, Zeta intends to exploit their ideas for the sake of fulfilling Shadow Garden's ends beyond simply destroying the cult, up to policing the entire world for eternity with Shadow as its immortal ruler. She firmly believes this is her purpose in life and will stop at nothing to achieve it, including the cost of her own life.
Like other Shadow Garden members, Zeta has undying loyalty and reverence toward Shadow since he saved her from her hopeless situation, gave her strength and issued her a new purpose. She'll often become less cold and more affectionate when she's in Cid's presence. Her admiration goes beyond that of other members into outright fanaticism, wanting to aid his ambitions and turn him into a godlike entity no matter what the cost would be. She believes that Cid's kindness is the only thing preventing him from fulfilling his goals and that it's best for her to take matters into her own hands in order to circumvent that limitation. She has a degree of reverence toward Claire due to her being Cid's family and feels regretful about needing to use her to control Diablos, but is still resolute about doing so. She also has an intrinsic rivalry with Delta due to them being a cat and a wolf respectively.
Trivia[]
- Despite Cid having an undisguised desire to be immortal so that he can have fun forever, he would reject Zeta's plan not out of kindness but because he's far too proud to use borrowed power and would rather achieve immortality with his own methods.
