Trevathan is a supporting antagonist in the 2024 science fiction action film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the fourth installment of the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise.

Trevathan was an opportunistic human imprisoned by the Coastal Ape Colony. However, he soon became an advisor to Proximus Caesar by teaching Proximus about human history (especially Roman history) and fixing up human weaponry.

He was portrayed by William H. Macy, who also portrayed Jerry Lundegaard in Fargo, Edmond Burke in the 2005 film adaptation of Edmund, Jack Powell in Law & Order, and Lefty Maginnis in Everyone's Hero.

Biography[]

Not much is know about Trevathan's early life. However, he was born on a human settlement with advanced intelligence due to being immune to the effects of the mutated Simian Flu that robbed most humans of their advanced intelligence three centuries prior. Eventually, he left his settlement and journeyed to the western coast of North America. During the journey, he broke his ankles and was captured by loyalists of a chimpanzee ruler named Proximus Caesar and imprisoned at the Coastal Ape Colony, residing in a sector of a wrecked ship. However, Trevathan eventually adapted to his new lifestyle and began to teach Proximus about human history, particularly about the Roman Empire. He also began fixing up old human weaponry and aided in the advancement of the Coastal Ape Colony while supporting Proximus' ambitions, believing he was securing a future for himself.

When Noa, Soona, Anaya and Mae try to evade Proximus to blow up the bunker and prevent Proximus from gaining access to the technology inside, Trevathan caught them in the act. Though Mae tried to convince Trevathan to come with them, Trevathan refused and tries to alert Proximus, but was strangled to death by Mae, shocking the three chimpanzees. His corpse was then thrown into the ocean afterwards.
