Spiders, also known as Dark Energon Spiders, are major antagonists of the Autobot Campaign of Transformers: War for Cybertron.
They are a race of demonic arachnids that were spawned from the Dark Energon after Cybertron was infected by Megatron. Since then, they became loyal to Megatron and his entire Decepticons willing to help him on his war against the Autobots.
Biography[]
The Spiders are created from the Dark Energon crystals sometime after Megatron infected Cybertron's core and spread it throughout Cybertron. The first of them would infested the areas at Kaon and despite being an infestation, these creatures are not a threat to the Decepticons and are instead allies to them because of their loyalty to their creator. Megatron soon welcomed them to the Decepticon ranks to help him on thekr war against the Autobot forces who resist him even after Sentinel Prime is captured.
The Spiders have been first encountered by Optimus, Bumblebee and Ratchet where they were seen roaming in ventilation tunnels with the Cloakers aiding them to stop the Autobots. As the trio were trapped in a face chamber, Megatron summoned several Spiders where they begin to attack the Autobots. Despite their attacks, the Autobots were able to hold off each of them one by one. Though they coukdn't stop the Autobots, Megatron was able to teleport the trio to a prison cell just moments before they make their moment to escape with the Autobot prisoners and a now-deceased Sentinel Prime. Before they were encountered a second time, a Space Slug was converted by the Dark Energon into the Corrupted Worm which grant it many abilities, including the ability to spawn the Spiders.
The second time they were encountered, they were spawn as one of the Corruoted Worm's advantages to defeat the Autobots while absorbing the Dark ENergon from Cybertron's core. Even whike they attekpt to aid the Corrupted Worm, they were again defeated and the Autobots manage to kill the Corrupted Worm, ending its ramapage. With the Dark Energon cleared from the core and put to shut down, vast amounts of the Dark Energon would be purged to eradication along with several Spiders that are still within.
Despite the Dark Energon purge, the remaining Spiders would be within Trypticon due to the fact that he came to life from the Dark Energon, pleding his loyalty to Megatron. During Trypticon's battle with the Autobot trio, he send several Dark Energon crystals and the Autobots had to deal with the Spiders that emerged from the crystals. With Trypticon defeated and Cybertron's deactivation purging the Dark Energon effects, the Spiders never returned proving that they have been eradicated for good.
Though they are extinct, they would be replaced by the Insecticons after they were found during the Dark Spark hunt and brought by Shockwave to become loyal to him under the guide of Sharpshot, Kickback and Hardshell.
Trivia[]
- In the first escalation wave, they are only seen as lower class enemies along with the lower Decepticon soldiers for the player to fight against.
