Rufus Thierry Blaiddyd is a minor character in the 2019 tactical video game Fire Emblem: Three Houses and a minor antagonist in the Azure Gleam route of its 2022 spin-off sequel Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

He is the Grand Duke of Itha and the Regent of the Holy Kingdom of Faergus, the elder brother of the late King Lambert Egitte Blaiddyd, as well as the uncle of Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd. He was later revealed to be one of the major conspirators behind the Tragedy of Duscar.

He is voiced by Shinji Kawada in the Japanese version, and J. Bentley in the English version.

Personality[]

Rufus is a cruel and paranoid man, being willing to purge noblemen who don't agree wit him. His rule of Faergus is shown to be quite incompetent and tyrannical, allowing bandits to attack the citizens. He's also incredibly hypocritical, as he calls Dimitri out for killing his kin and calls him a monster, while he participates in the Tragedy of Duscur and got his own brother killed.

Biography[]

Rufus was originally the heir to the throne of Faerghus, until he was instead forced to be the Grand Duke since he did not bear a Crest, but his brother did. Bearing hatred towards his brother for stealing his spotlight, he, alongside other Western kingdom nobles who did not like Lambert's reforms, caused the Tragedy of Duscur.
