The Makkine Supreme Commander, simply known as the Supreme Commander, is the main antagonist of the 2022 Netflix animated series Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, serving as the overarching antagonist of season 1 and the main antagonist of season 2.

It is a vicious artificial intelligence and the leader and presumed creator of the Makkine, which seeks to conquer every world in the multiverse, eventually bringing it into conflict with Yuichi Usagi and his allies. It is the (former) master and archenemy of Kagehito.

Personality[]

Although it makes few appearances, the Makkine Supreme Commander is shown to be a calculating and ruthless conqueror, being able to identify worlds that are suitable for the Makkine to conquer and organize the Makkine's conquests with supreme efficiency. When faced with a world that may prove difficult to conquer, such as Usagi's, it is able to make the preparations necessary to ensure the Makkine's success, such as sending agents like Kagehito to weaken the world's defenses and open portals for the Makkine to use. It also possesses a reasonable fear of anything that could harm the Makkine, like the Ki-Stone. Despite its emotionless exterior, it is capable of acting out of sadism; not only in its violent conquests, but also forcing the defeated Kagehito to witness the fate of his entire species before brainwashing him, and, when seeing that Kagehito has broken free from its control, promising to sentence him to a fate worse than death for his defiance.

Biography[]

Past[]

Little is known about the Makkine Supreme Commander prior to the events of the series; although, at some point, it came into control of the Makkine (possibly by creating them), and began using them to conquer worlds, intending to achieve total domination of the entire multiverse. During one of its conquests, it came to the world of the Unu, massacring its people. In the aftermath of its conquest, the Supreme Commander had the surviving Unu imprisoned within a device known as the Quantum Bubble, and captured their leader, Kagehito. It subsequently had Kagehito brainwashed by one of its devices, forcing him to serve the Makkine in their goals.

The Supreme Commander later came across the world of the legendary ronin Miyamoto Usagi, and, fearing the power possessed by one of its artifacts, the Ki-Stone, sent Kagehito to conquer it, granting him a device known as the Clavis; which would open a portal for the Makkine to enter through. However, Usagi would ultimately seal Kagehito (and, consequently, all other Yokai) within the Ki-Stone, thus halting the Supreme Commander's plans.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being the main antagonist of the series, the Supreme Commander is the only villain that never has any direct interactions with Usagi or his friends; it is only ever directly met by Kagehito.
    • It also appears for only two minutes of screentime, with only three lines of dialogue.
  • Due to its ambitions of multiversal conquest and destroying the Unu's planet, the Supreme Commander can be considered the most evil villain in the entire Usagi Yojimbo franchise.
