~ Lance threatening Frank Castle. |
Lance is a minor antagonist in Season 1 of The Punisher. He is a construction worker who attempts to rob Tony Gnucci's poker game.
He was portrayed by Chris Critelli.
History[]
Four years after the Battle of New York started by Loki, Lance and his friends Paulie and Leo are working on reconstructing a building. Whenever Lance and his crew are low on money however, they do small time crimes with each other or borrow money from loan sharks. One day while working, he meets Pete Castiglione and Lance takes an immediate hatred towards him since he never talks to anybody and only ever works on building and tearing down the same wall repeatedly.
After Lance introduces new worker Donny Chavez to the other workers and shows him what he'll be doing at the sight, he once again mocks Frank for still working on the wall and throws a piece of concrete at the back of his head, which he ignores. The next day, Lance finds Frank still tearing down the wall, realizing that since he's working so much, he's a threat to their jobs. Lance threatens Frank to stop taking so much overtime and kicks over his lunch into the dirt, finally getting a reaction from him. Lance notices Frank tightening his grip around his sledgehammer and warns him that if he tries fighting him, he'll sodomize Frank with the sledgehammer, then walks away laughing with his crew.
The next day before going a bar after work, Lance talks with Paulie about robbing Tony Gnucci's poker game while in disguise to pay their debts to them (not realizing they would notice their payment being the exact same amount that was stolen from them).
At work at the construction sight the next day, while talking with Paulie again about the details of their heist, they notice Frank had been listening to them, behind a wall while he ate his lunch and Lance once again threatens Frank to not tell the police or The Gnuccis. While Lance is talking to him however, one of Lance's other friends named Scut is injured when a metal beam crushes his arm. Now that Lance was down one man for the heist, Paulie suggests to Lance that they cancel it, but Lance instead suggests they have Donny be their new fourth man and he agrees after he's asked since he'd easily make a little over $10K.
Later that night at Tony Gnucci's restaurant, Linello's, Lance, Donny, Paulie, and Leo put on balaclavas and arm themselves before rushing into the basement and hold everyone hostage. While Donny takes all of the money and puts it into a bag, one of the handles gets caught on one of the gangster's chairs and after struggling to free it, his wallet falls from his pocket and exposes his driver's license to Tony and the rest of the Gnuccis. Now fearing for their lives, they hurriedly make their escape to the construction sight.
Lance and his crew start mercilessly beating Donny for screwing up the heist and plan on killing him. Lance tells Leo to turn on the cement mixer and he eagerly agrees and hurries to do so. However, after they manage to get Donny inside a vat of cement, Frank returns to the site on his night shift with his sledgehammer and warns them to turn off the cement mixer. Lance and the others laugh him off and Lance decides to take the opportunity to kill his hated coworker with his pistol, but Frank breaks Lance's knee with his sledgehammer and kills Leo after he smashes him in the head and tosses his body into the vat of cement with Donny.
Paulie runs away while shooting at Frank, who retaliates by breaking Lance's arm in order to steal his gun and shoots him in the head before he manages to drive away and then tosses his body into the vat as well. After returning to Lance, he breaks one of his legs with the sledgehammer and interrogates him on where he got the money, to which Lance quickly told him it was from the Gnucci's. Frank then kills Lance by burying his broken sledgehammer into Lance's chest and tossing his corpse into the vat along with his crew and giving their money to Donny with a note telling him to leave town for his own safety.
