~ The Scorpions owner and coach explaining their scheme upon their capture. |
The Hooded Ghosts are the main antagonists of The New Scooby-Doo Movies episode "The Mystery of Haunted Island". They are the owner, coach and trainer of the Scorpions Basketball team respectively. They kidnap the Harlem Globetrotters (as well as Mystery Inc.) to scare them and keep them up all night so they would perform badly in their match against the Scorpions and lose. Ultimately their scheme fails due to Mystery Inc. helping the Harlem Globetrotters win the match.
They were voiced by Michael Bell (Scorpions coach), as well as late John Stephenson (Scorpions owner) and Mel Blanc (Scorpions trainer) respectively.
History[]
The owner, coach and trainer of the Scorpions Basketball team plots to prevent the Harlem Globetrotters from having a good sleep so they would lose their match with the Scorpions. They were spying on the Globetrotters when Mystery Inc. met them and convinced them to join them on a trip to Picnic Island. Mystery Inc. and the Globetrotters arrive and boards what they think is the boat to Picnic Island, but is actually the boat leading to Haunted Island. The Scorpions owner, coach and trainer steer the boat automatically to the isle without the Globetrotters and Mystery Inc's knowledge.
Finally they arrive on the island and decides to sleep in the big mansion there. Unknowingly for them, the Scorpions owner, coach and trainer are watching them. During the night the Hooded Ghosts uses all sorts of trickery and pranks to frighten both the Globetrotters and Mystery Inc. for example fake ghosts, moving statues and ghastly glowing paint. Eventually, the Globetrotters and Mystery Inc. find clues and sees the Hooded Ghosts walking into a side building near the mansion. They come up with a plan to fill the little house with smoke by blocking the chimney. The plan succeeds and the Hooded Ghosts run outside only to be captured by the Globetrotters. They unmask the hooded figures and sees it's the owner, coach and trainer of the Scorpions. They explain that their plan was to prevent the Globetrotters from getting a good night sleep so they would lose the game. A plan that appears to be succeeding due to the Globetrotters falling asleep by exhaustion.
During the first half of the match, the Globetrotters perform disastrous due to all members falling asleep back and forth. The Scorpions completely destroys the Globetrotters during the first half of the match, with the owner, coach and trainer laughing idly by. Thankfully, Shaggy comes up with an idea to use ice to wake up the Globetrotters when they are falling asleep. Due to Shaggy's strategy the Globetrotters eventually win the game and celebrate together with Mystery Inc. So in the end, the Scorpions owner, coach and trainer's scheme didn't work as their team lost the match anyway.
