Google Chrome is the main antagonist of the webcomic Internet Explorer written and illustrated by Merryweather. She is a very powerful Internet Browser eagerly abstracts many servers in order to take over the whole web platform and the archenemy of Microsoft Edge and Bing.

She is voiced by Ema in the Japanese web adaptation.

Personality[]

Google Chrome is shown to be extremely egotistical, narcissistic, envious and overal power-hungry behind her nice façade, stopping at nothing to rule as the greatest browser with an Iron Fist, resorting to cruel torture towards others to gain more power and relevancy, Chrome shows a sociopathic tendency when she tortures Bing for her RAM. She shows a hypocritical side as she gets angry at Microsoft Edge for gaining more power as she did. She is also arrogant as pointed out in the bonus comic when she was reckless of violating a copyright strike or when she desperately attacks Microsoft edge by branding her as a painted monopoly, only seeing herself as good Despite her awful traits she chooses to be bad despite being aware of her actions and only cares what’s good for the platform, on the plus side of her evil acts, she has good intentions of wanting to keep the Internet running.

Upon her defeat, she resorts to becoming more pragmatic and calm in her approach, where despite wanting to kill other Browsers, she will avoid unnecessary conflict and only set out to defeat Microsoft Edge.

Biography[]

When Internet Explorer is sent to the Dark Web (most likely as a result of Google Chrome's actions), Google Chrome makes her debut by tracking Bing down and then torturously absorbing her RAM through tentacles protruding from her body leaving Bing in a comatose state. Working alongside Opera, Google Chrome forces her servitude by threatening to do the same to her when Opera questioned her on being too gleeful with torturing Bing.

Shortly after Google Chrome's introduction, she states that her goal is to become the most used browser on the internet, and had also succeeded with kidnapping the manifestation of the World Wide Web through unknown means. Returning to Bing for further feeding, Google Chrome robs more RAM from her and ultimately leaves her for dead. After escaping the Dark Web by becoming Microsoft Edge, Opera finds her, having deflected from Google Chrome. Arriving to Google Chrome's palace, Internet Explorer confronts her, demanding that she tell her where Bing was. Google Chrome Chan giddily tells her that Bing had died.

It is then revealed that Opera teaming up with Internet Explorer to take Google Chrome down was all a farce. While her back was turned, Opera impales Internet Explorer with a knife, telling her that it was the "Age of Google." After she was upgraded with Chromium in Google’s servers as she floats at Edge as she plans to expand herself into every user in the world, however Edge summons her sword and leaps onto her castle, preparing to face her, Google proceeds to become salty with Edge for being a dead server only pre-installed and obsolete like Bing, provoking Explorer to attack her with threats of colored wires but Edge proved to be fast and manages to attack Google chrome from behind. Google then stops to Listen to Edge being worth more than her and that she is more powerful as not only as explorer but Edge, enraging Google Chrome who chants “I HATE YOU!” Six times while spring out her wires to attack her aimlessly, Google says that Edge is worse of an monopoly that is responsible for eliminating more of her competition including net worth even though it’s not her fault and calls her as monopoly greed that refuses to die to be forced onto any users. Google then summons her wings and pins down Edge where she reveals that Bing is still alive yet she lied before, and is more willing to finish edge first before draining Bing, however before she could finish her sentence of being the new age, she was attacked by Firefox, leaving edge to escape with Tor while DuckDuckGo saves Bing from Google’s fortress.
