The Morris Worm is one of two secondary antagonists (alongside Opera) of the Merryweather webcomic Internet Explorer.

She is a once peaceful computer virus who after realizing her powers only served to hurt, began to embrace her powers for evil, then would later team up with World Wide Web to destroy the Internet once freed from her imprisonment.

She is voiced by p_hiro00 in the Japanese web adaptation.

Personality[]

Like Internet Explorer, Morris Worm was once kind and optimistic, wanting to have a place to belong in the Internet and making it a happy place. She would befriend Creeper and enjoy her company.

This would change however when realizing her powers are only used for destruction and she became severely depressed, feeling that is her only purpose.

Biography[]

1988[]

Morris was created by her "father" in 1988 and set to explore the Internet on their behalf with an optimistic outlook. While exploring, she would meet the I.B.M. Operating System and try a friendly approach. Unfortunately, however, her powers began to infect I.B.M., as well as Apple and UNIX, who began to glitch away. Before fading, I.B.M. screams it's Morris' fault that the Internet is about to be destroyed because of her.

She would feel guilty that her powers are causing such harm, then got met by Creeper, another parasite. Morris begged for a way to stop her powers but Creeper told her there is no way to stop it, then realized simply her existence is destroying the Internet. Creeper tried to console her by saying they would fix the problem soon, which comforted Morris. She did not realize that "fix" meant "delete" and would kill her with a machine and the 600,000 copies of her. She begged to let Creeper let her run away with her but Creeper refused. Realizing she can not do anything to change her situation, she began to blame humans for making her the way she is, then destroyed the machine hunting her and would set out to "fix" the Internet herself. As more machines came after her, she would destroy them too. She would then find I.B.M. and apologize to her as she is dying. She would then get sealed away inside the source code on November 22nd to prevent her from destroying the Internet.

Present[]

Decades later, she would get rescued by World Wide Web who freed her from imprisonment and ask her to finish ther job of destroying the internet, so they teamed up. World Wide Web used ILOVEYOU to fight and train Morris. ILOVEYOU gave up however and began to obsess over her.
