It is busy, isn't it? It may be small but it is my room and also the universe. Space is cramped. No-one can even imagine what it is like out there. It is something that even a small brain like you, leaving on that measly Earth in an even smaller galaxy, should understand. How about this? How careless of me. I was about to crush Earth. There are too many lives and planets in this room. I need to organize but tidying up is boring. So, I made it fun. I made a game where I make people fight and destroy their planet. It entertains me! You rouse some people every now and again and then, you just watch. Now, the universe has tidied up!
~ Dagded Dujardin's goal.

Uchu Emperor Dagded Dujardin is the main antagonist of Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger. He is the Water Bear-themed cosmic entity and leader of Uchu who destroyed planets by causing wars to organize the universe to his satisfaction. He was the one responsible for the war between humanity and the Bagnarak.

He is voiced by Akira Ishida who previously voiced Dembey in GoGo Sentai Boukenger but is more well-known as Gaara in Naruto, Athrun Zala in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Ryuunosuke Uryuu in Fate/Zero, Kaworu Nagisa in Neon Genesis Evangelion and Zeref Dragneel in Fairy Tail.

Biography[]

Past[]

Uchu Emperor Dagded Dujardin is a cosmic being of unknown origin whose purpose is to destroy planets to maintain order in the universe. However, he grew bored of his purpose and decided that he would have fun by having the denizens of target worlds destroy each other instead. He gathered a group of powerful and dangerous insect-like aliens who become his "jesters", establishing the Galactinsects as they manipulated the denizens of multiple inhabited planets into killing each other for their amusement. Two worlds that Galactinsects attacked were prehistoric Earth and the planet which the Bagnarak originated from, the latter planet being destroyed. Peoples from both planets migrated to Tikyu two millennia before the events of the series, with Dadged forcing the Husty royal family to have humans declare war on the Bagnarak in return for his favor.

Eventually, King Causus Husty approached Dadged to give them a child since his wife could no longer bare him another. Dadged accepts and gifts Casus's wife with the baby that would become Gira Husty. Though Causus planned on turning Gira into a weapon to use on Dagded after the pregnancy killed his wife, Dadged actually created Gira to be prepped by Causus as Tikyu's destroyer. But events of Causus's death and the Wrath of God, both caused by Glodi Leucodium and Kamejim under Dadged's orders, allowed Racules to sent Gira away to live a normal life while he played the role of a puppet until the chance to kill Dadged presents itself.

King-Ohger[]

The Uchu are summoned to Earth by Kamejim after he reveals his betrayal to Naraka King Desnarak VIII and the King-Ohgers; later rejoining the organisation as Kamejim Unka after his apparent death at the hands of God King-Ohger. Two years later, they return to Earth when Dujardin first sends down Kamejim to slaughter the Bagnarak and his other four generals to suppress the other four kingdom whilst he himself goes to attack Shuggodam. Upon introducing himself, Dagded Dujardin rains down devastating meteors on Shuggodam as revenge for mishearing his name as Dead Tired. When confronting Kamejim about apparently lying about the Bagnarak's destruction though, he finds Gira and shows him a planet the Galactinsects destroyed. He then reveals that he masterminded Kamejim's plan to turn humans and the Bagnarak against each other and his motivation. After returning to Earth, he reveals the subjugation of the other four kingdoms made possible by Racules Hastie's previous schemes but his generals are swiftly forced out by the King-Ohgers when they return from exile although Dagded himself manages to survive Jeramie and Gira's Spider and King-Ohger Finishes before leaving.

Dagded is temporarily killed by Racules and Gira exploiting his prior act of giving part of his power to Racules' OhgerCalibur Zero, which made it capable of killing immortals. Despite his death, the Galactinsects keep going with their conquests and he is finally revived once Minongan is killed as the Jester has been his living body backup all along, Minongan revives afterwards with his entire identity gone and Dagded resumes his activities as if nothing happened. However, the act of being killed has secretly driven him mad, prompting Dagded to more actively mess with the heroes and their planet.

With most of his jesters dead and Minongan sealed away, leaving only Kamejim, the King-Ohgers entrust Rcules to secure the five fragments of King's Proofs and Venomix Shooter during an evacuation from Chikyu while they engage in battle against Dagded. However, Dagded catches on to their attempt and sends Kamejim to steal them. Goroge, who survived Kamejim's assassination attempt exposes the jester, and Desnarak is resurrected in time to aid his fellow Chikyu citizens and the King-Ohgers against Uchu. Dagded summons an army of revived mindless Kajim led by revived copies of the defeated Jesters but they in turn are wiped out by the reinforcements from the afterlife; Desnarak, Iroki, Boshimar, Nephilia, Karras and Reiniol Husty, who himself briefly fights and wounds Dagded; informing the King-Ohgers' of his weakness before returning to Hakabaka.

Now no longer untouchable, Dagded battles the King-Ohgers once more only to be overwhelmed so he grows to his true giant universe-sized form where he is almost victorious but is finally overwhelmed by God King-Ohger which manages to even strip him of all his divine power and immortality at the cost of the Shugods' sacrifice (reducing them to mere souls). Reduced to a mere powerless mortal, and vulnerable due to his head crystal breaking, the King-Ohgers confront the powerless Space King and strike him with a powerful united King-Ohger Finish; vaporizing his real tardigrade body which kills Dagded Dujardin once and for all and avenges the millions of lives ended for his amusement.

Personality[]

Gira: You made them fight... to destroy them?!
Dagded: Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own.
Gira: Stop joking around!
Dagded: Oh, I understand. I am not joking.
~ Dagded Dujardin's twisted ideology.

Uchu Emperor Dagded Dujardin is on the surface an affable and vaguely polite gentlemen albeit one with a playful and teasing child-like personality. In reality though, he is an extremely sadistic, sociopathic, manipulative, chaotic, ruthless, egotistical, malevolent, and violent leader whose only interest is his own entertainment and fulfilment at the cost of others. Seeing the whole universe as his "playground," Dagded possesses a very twisted view of perfection; believing he has to "cleanse" the universe by sow seeds of distrust between species to make them fight and exterminate each other and only doing it "because it's fun."

As evidenced by his actions and Dagded referring to himself with the prefix "oresama", he is also incredibly vain and narcissistic which also makes him very petty. Just because Gira Hastie got his name wrong since the Japanese words for Dead Tired sound similar to his name, Dagded rained down meteors to devastate Shuggodam. Despite his arrogance, Dagded is smart enough to plan for the future; rewarding those who serve him dutifully like the Hasties and being careful to never come across as a complete despot.

His haughtiness ultimately turns out to be his greatest weakness, as his refusal to destroy the King-Ohgers on the spot despite having the chance several times throughout the series allows them to gradually grow in skill to match his forces and later on find a way to hurt and kill him. Even after his first death, he refused to take them seriously, which costs him all of his allies and servants as well as ultimately his divinity and immortality. In his final moments, he lost his composure completely; reduced to a screaming madman deluded about his non-existent victory right before he died.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Power: Galactinsect Emperor Dagded Dujardin was one of the most powerful characters in Super Sentai, having almost God-like powers, being able to warp and shape reality and virtually untouchable.
  • Strength: Dagded was strong enough to grab and drag Gira through rocks whilst gliding as well as catch Racules' OhgerCalibur ZERO between his hands.
  • Durability: Dagded was completely unfazed by relentless attacks from both King Kuwagata Ohger and Spider Kumonos and emerged unscathed after taking their Spider and King-Ohger Finish attacks head-on.
    • Pain Resistance: Dagded had a very high pain resistance as he withstood multiple very painful slashes from Racules' OhgerCalibur ZERO which he had empowered to kill immortals.
  • Sight: Dagded Dujardin could see despite lacking eyes in his head.
  • Speech: Dagded Dujardin could speak despite lacking a mouth.
  • Longevity: Dagded had been alive for several thousand years but showed no negative side effects from ageing.
  • Language Adjustment: Being an alien, Dagded Dujardin had to adjust to be able to speak Japanese and be understood by those on Earth.
  • Meteor Summoning: Dagded Dujardin was able to summon meteors to rain down and devastate cities as seen after he first introduced himself.
  • Teleportation: Dagded Dujardin could teleport to any location he wishes instantly by disappearing in an blue energy spiral or in a blue flash.
    • Instant Teleportation: Dagded Dujardin could also instantly teleport around the battlefield in his energy spiral.
  • Space Survivability: Dagded survived the vacuum of space perfectly well.
  • Gliding: Dagded Dujardin could glide through the air into his enemies.
  • Nigh-Omnipotence: Dagded Dujardin had immense reality warping abilities to the extent of nigh-omnipotence.
    • Oxygen Bubble Creation: Dagded Dujardin could also create yellow, invisible force-fields around people so they could breathe in space.
    • Image Projection: Dagded could generate a massive image of his head into the sky at will.
    • Self Growth: Dagded could grow to giant size at will; at least big enough to hold large clumps of meteors in one hand.
    • Shrinking: Dagded could also shrink down to be small enough to stand on Gira's shoulder.
    • Dimensiokinesis: Dagded had absolute controls over his dimensions and warp them to his liking, often defying the laws of physics.
    • Weapon Empowerment: Dagded could twirl his finger over a weapon to generate an energy circle and then fire it into a weapon to make it strong enough to kill immortals.
    • Forcefield Generation: Dagded could cast purple forcefields from his left hand strong enough to hold Gira off.
    • Impregnation Blasts: Dagded could shoot a projection of the Uchu symbol on his left hand at women to impregnate them with his children as shown when he created Gira.

Weaknesses[]

  • His Own Power: Ironically, Dagded's greatest weakness was his own great power as it could kill any immortal with him being no exception. He empowered Rcules' OhgerCalibur ZERO to kill Gira but Rcles betrayed him as he'd planned all along and Yanma was able to replicate and give the power to the King-Ohgers' weapons, finally allowing them to harm him.
  • Arrogance: Dagded was an incredibly arrogant, cocky and supremacist villain who believed himself to be an unkillable God. However, this is also his main weakness as it led to him making multiple mistakes such as giving Rucles a weapon capable of killing immortals without considering he could be a turncoat.
    • Unstable Mental State: After reviving through Minnongan Moth, Dagded lost any form of calm and collectedness and became completely insane; leading to his final attack and ultimately his demise.

Arsenal[]

  • Fists: Dagded Dujardin usually used no weapons but was a skilled fighter with his bare hands.
    • Energy Empowerment: Dagded could channel golden energy into his left palm to strike with enough force to send his enemies flying.
    • Energy Chop: Dagded could channel golden energy into his left palm to turn it into a golden cutter which he used to try and destroy Racules' OhgerCalibur ZERO but Gira blocked it.
  • Uchu Sword: Dagded could summon several energy swords to damage his enemies. He could also materialize the said sword.

Quotes[]

Noh ho ho ho ho ho. I gotcha! And... there. Good luck.
~ Uchu Emperor Dagded Dujardin's first chronologically spoken words before creating Gira Hasty.
Eat bell-peppers and shiitake. Free shoulder massage, a cup of tea, gunslingers, bon dancing. No, no. Let me calibrate it to your language. Can you understand what I am saying? Alright. I am Galactinsect Emperor Dagded Dujardin.
~ Dagded upon returning to Earth in the present.
Dagded: Question! Where are we? Time is up! The answer: the planet I cleansed.
Gira: Cleansed?
Dagded: Right. At first, there were all sorts of animals but I cleaned them all up.
Gira: You destroyed a planet?
Dagded: I guess you could put it that way. And this planet, I destroyed everything. You know how I did it? A hint! The humans fought the Bugnarak and what happened on Earth? Did it not become pretty?
~ Dagded revealing that he was the mastermind behind the war with the Bagnarak.
Tsk, tsk, you insects actually tried to fight back against me. This will just make it all the more fun. Spare none, miss none, leave not a speck of life intact. Clean them out.
~ Dagded after surviving Jeramie and Gira's finishers.
You think a little poke is going to take me down? Two two are nothing but insignificant specks! Who get! Crushed! You are nothing but a speck!
~ Dagded after being stabbed by Racles and his apparent last words.
Daddy's back! As the creator of all that exists, I can even whip another of me up! Dah ha ha ha ha ha ha! Sucks to be you, huh? And it is only going to get worse from here. Look forward to it. Meh heh heh eh heh heh ha ha ha ha ha!
~ Dagded after reviving through Minongan Moth.
What is all this? What is so funny?! I am going to crush them all into pulp! I should have killed you even more thoroughly. You are even more dusty than the other specks. Just what are you people?!
~ Dagded's villainous breakdown as his final plan broke apart.
Don't screw with me...!
~ Dagded Dujardin's last words.

Trivia[]

  • His name is a play on Hypsibius dujardini; a specific type of water bear.
  • He's clearly based of the Anti-Spiral from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann; being malevolent cosmic entities who have overlooked the events of the series from the start and control the lives of the heroes and their allies and enemies alike for their own purposes, and once they reveal themselves, they become the main villains for the second half. And like the Anti-Spiral, Dagded meets his end at the hands of the heroes' ultimate robot combination made specifically to fight them despite their borderline omnipotence.
