~ Chaser, before attempting to kill the player mid conversation |
Chaser is a major antagonist from the second Verse of the Roblox game Deepwoken, the main antagonist of the Eternal Gale dungeon.
Chaser is seemingly a high-rank of the organization known as the Divers, but in reality a spy sent by The Ministry. On a mission to the Eternal Gale, the second layer of the Depths, he betrayed his team and the Divers in an attempt to reach New Kyrsa alone.
He is voiced by YouTuber Demstormz, who also voiced The Ferryman in the same game.
Biography[]
Past[]
Little is known of Chaser's past. Before his betrayal he was seen as one of the most powerful Divers the Citadel produced, only surpassed by Klaris Llfiend and Akira. At some point in time, he encountered the Second Prophet of The Ministry, who gifted him the ability to manipulate blood. He also created the Flareblood Kamas at some point in his apprenticeship under the Second Prophet.
Betrayal[]
Chaser volunteered to lead twenty Divers in an expedition into the Eternal Gale. Although upon arrival, Chaser began to show that his motives had changed from helping the Divers to aiding the Kyrsgarde in their slaughter. He let much of his team die due to the harsh conditions of the Eternal Gale, refusing to let them seek shelter in the base of their rival, the Ignition Union, killing anyone who deserted. Chaser would eventually start murdering even the loyalists among his peers, claiming their greed outweighed their survival instincts. After murdering his team he would harness their blood by hanging them on meat hooks and place their blood into jars to act as fuel for his blood magic. He then started causing disturbances around the area, and would begin his search for an entrance to New Kyrsa. Aware of the bizarre time anomaly active in Layer Two, he created a watch to monitor it.
Defeat[]
Eventually, an adventurer came across Chaser. Initially attempting to trick them, a fight soon started, Chaser relying on harvested blood in jars to attack them. However, as the jars broke and he realised he had little time left until the time anomaly caused a reset, he repeatedly bludgeoned his body against the Cathedral floor. He ultimately managed to break through and create an entrance to the Second Floor of the Second Layer, but in the process, his body was broken apart, his blood and scattered limbs falling to the ground below. However, he would not be allowed to die so easily. The time anomaly restored him to how he was previously, trapping him in a cycle of being aware of the encounter with the adventurer, but not remembering how the fight ended, constantly repeating the process of destroying himself in order to achieve his goal, with no clear escape in sight.
Ironically, though he would never lay eyes on the city itself, the adventurer was able to use his watch to monitor the time they had left in the Second Floor, slaying the Scion of Ethiron and escaping intact.
