In "Dying for Pie", Squidward sees him and his crew on their pirate ship, which is filled with exploding pies. Squidward asks if he can borrow one, however, one of the crew members tells him that the pies are actually bombs. After hearing that Squidward was gonna pay, Captain Cruel lies to Squidward by telling him that they were just joking about the pies being bombs just so he can get Squidward's money, and he proceeds to give him a pie. Because of his actions, Captain Cruel is indirectly responsible for the rest of the episode's events.
In "Sailor Mouth", he is seen at the Krusty Krab along with one of his crew members. He confirms to his crew member that SpongeBob cursed when he walked into the restaurant.
In "Boss for a Day", he and his crew attack the Krusty Krab and get kicked out by Mr. Krabs.
In "Pinned", Patrick invites him and other pirates to a surprise party at SpongeBob's house.

In "The Commode Episode", he and his crew are seen charging into Patrick's room, holding a map and saying "The treasure be through here!".

In SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Krabby Patty, he and his crew join the Flying Dutchman in stealing Mr. Krabs' treasures during the "Save Me Money!" minigame.
In SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants!, he appears as a pirate ghost and a member of the Flying Dutchman's crew who tries to stop Mermaid Man because he stole something from the Dutchman. He appears as an enemy in worlds 2 and 4.
Find a Missing Star[]
SpongeBob and Squidward get kidnapped by pirates in the Eyepatch 'N Peg Leg and are taken to their secret hideout where they come fact to face with their leader, Captain Cruel. Cruel demands them to hand over their treasure, not believing them when they claim to not be pirates.
When they reveal that they're actually detectives, Captain Cruel orders his crew to attack the duo, and gets increasingly annoyed when they fail. SpongeBob and Squidward manage to escape and lock Cruel and his crew in their own hideout.
