The following is a list of weapons in Final Fantasy IX.
The original game was released on four discs for the PlayStation. The later digital releases do not have distinct "parts" like this, though "discs" are still indicated on the file saves. Some equipment pieces are only available within certain time frames, and on which "disc" they are available is still shown in this article.
- Disc 1 ends after the boss battles in Burmecia.
- Disc 2 ends after the battle outside the Iifa Tree involving the Alexandrian navy.
- Disc 3 ends upon gaining the Invincible airship (although the point of no return is going through the Shimmering Island).
- Disc 4 is the end where the only remaining story objective is the final dungeon.
Certain equipment pieces give elemental weaknesses that are not noted in the menu. The only way to see whether an equipment piece gives a weakness is to use Scan on the wearer mid-battle. Equipping both element-halving and element-weak equipment together results in damage being roughly 75% of its normal value.
Zidane, Dagger, and Eiko have two victory poses, depending on what weapon type they have equipped.
Daggers[]
Daggers can be used by Zidane, and can inflict their innate status effects with the support ability Add Status. Soul Blade will always miss while Zidane is equipped with daggers.
The damage dealt by daggers is determined as follows:
- Base = Weapon's Attack - Enemy's Defense
- Bonus = Strength + Rnd MOD ([(Level + Strength) / 8] + 1)
- Damage = Base * Bonus
