Tanya is the daughter of caravan drivers, who perished in a giant ant attack that both spared her and left her orphaned.[Non-game 1] According to one of the traders, her entire family died in the attack, save for Tanya, whose body was never found, and no trace of her existed until she resurfaced recently in the Canterbury Commons.[3] In an attempt to come to terms with her grief and rationalize why the ants had done this, Tanya turned to Hubris Comics, specifically Grognak the Barbarian, where she attached herself to the villain AntAgonizer.[4] She found solace in their similarities: both were orphaned girls who would befriend and live among ants, and would later develop a hatred for humankind.[5][6]
In particular, she blamed the Canterbury Commons, a trading hub which her parents helped make popular as a result of their trade route, that she now interpreted as a "blight" upon the Capital Wasteland.[Non-game 1] She reasoned that the ants killed her "filthy human family" in order to rescue her, set her on the path of her destiny, and lead them to triumph over humankind—starting with the town her family helped build up.[7][8] Tanya truly believes that the AntAgonizer comic explains why her life took the direction it did, and why she must follow through with the fictional character's motives to take over the land with an ant colony.[5][9] On top of this, she is disgusted and haunted by her family, stemming from pain she endured in her childhood, which has led her to believe their actions reflect the evils of humanity to a point where she no longer wishes to identify herself as human.[7][10]
Subsequently, Tanya became a recluse that townspeople would spot living in a sewer system to the north, caked in dirt and mud.[Non-game 1] Sometime after, giant ants began to congregate near the sewers, and the area would begin to consist of an ant nest, full of warrens and caves.[11][12] Tanya then vanished for months, before finally reemerging as the "AntAgonizer" and leading a horde of giant ants to "attack" the town, until Dominic D'Ellsadro thwarted her off by lining up shots at the ants and forcing her retreat.[13][Non-game 1] Every now and then she stages attacks, and while her antics provided entertainment at first, and she herself was quite harmless, it soon escalated when one of her attacks destroyed the robot who used to protect the town.[13][14] Scott Wollinksi, the former town mechanic who was in charge of robot maintenance, took the loss personally and especially hard, having lost his favorite robot in one of the attacks.[15][16][Non-game 2] Spurned on by Derek Pacion, a child who convinced him to become a "super-hero," Scott has since taken up the title of the "Mechanist," and cultivated a "robot army" to take revenge on the AntAgonizer.[16][14] Should the Lone Wanderer show up, the pair can be seen engaging in a fight in town, which by Ernest Roe's estimate is the twentieth time they have fought.[17][18] While the town was initially grateful that stories of the Antagonizer kept raiders and slavers away, this has also had the inadvertent consequence of driving off merchants.[19][20] Consequently, the Lone Wanderer can be asked to put an end to the AntAgonizer and Mechanist's shenanigans; although, the focus lies primarily on the latter due to how dangerous his robots' lasers are, as well as sympathy for the former town mechanic.[14][21]
Meanwhile, Dominic dismisses the AntAgonizer as a "crazy with an ant suit," and nothing more than a "sideshow freak" to the people of Canterbury Commons, with little regard given to her ultimate fate.[12][22] Ernest thinks the same of her, although considers her a citizen, albeit problematic, and is embarrassed each time he has to refer to her by her moniker.[13][18][23] Derek admits that while the AntAgonizer is cruel and capable of hurting innocents, she is also "strong and forceful"; he considers her to be one of his heroes, enjoying the liveliness that she brings to the town, and wonders if she and the Mechanist would take him on as a sidekick.[24][25] On the other hand, the only reason why Machete has not killed the "costumed idiots" is solely because Dominic forbade her—though she insists the next time they come into town, she will resolve the problem with a bullet for each of them.[26][27] The AntAgonizer herself cares very little for how the townspeople view her, simply referring to Canterbury Commons as a "pitiful town."[28]
The Mechanist especially despises the AntAgonizer, to a point that he becomes angry at the mention of her name, and is suspicious that those around him are colluding with her.[29] He thinks of her as a "spineless insect" incapable of understanding "true human emotions," and considers the act of killing her noble regardless of the motive.[30][31][32] If he believes that the Lone Wanderer is working for the AntAgonizer, he refers to her as their "creepy mistress," asserting that peace is not an option when it comes to her as she is "inhuman" to the extent of being an "animal."[33][34][31] She reciprocates these sentiments, calling him "pathetic" and expressing annoyance over his "meddling."[9][35] Subsequently, the AntAgonizer is willing to allow those who "turn [their] back on humanity's failings" to aid her in defeating the Mechanist.[36] As such, she can task the Lone Wanderer with retrieving the Mechanist's suit, in order to gloat and revel over having defeated a "larger and stronger opponent."[37]
It is unclear at which point the AntAgonizer began to don her own costume, but according to Derek her suit makes her "super agile," and she herself thinks it makes her "more than any ant could hope to be."[24][38]
Personality[]
The AntAgonizer is currently not in a sound state of mind, genuinely believing that she is not only an ant, but an "Ant Queen"—one that reigns over a court of her own making.[1][2] She can greet the Lone Wanderer with the demand that they, as a "peasant", should bow before her, and flanks herself with a "royal guard" of ants.[39][40] She is quick to anger, particularly where the Mechanist is involved, and if one does not "bow before [their] ant queen" then she threatens them to instead "bleed before the AntAgonizer."[2][38][41] Agreeing to aid her in killing the Mechanist causes her to see the Lone Wanderer as one of her soldiers, and is pleased that a human would turn their back on their own kind to support her, even if it is only a temporary alliance.[41][42] This line of thinking stems from her belief that the ants had spared her from her family's fate after recognizing the nobility within her, and she consequently considers them to be likewise noble.[7][9]
She believes she was rescued from crawling in the "muck of mankind" when she was a larva, and is now trying to put an end to humanity's time.[7][9] She justifies this by claiming that humans doomed themselves with their own wars and arguments, and even if humanity is not quite dead yet, she wishes to expedite this process.[9][17][43] However, she is unaware that she is a hypocrite for shaming humanity for its wars, when she herself believes that conflict is the only solution in power struggles, and is plotting a war against the Mechanist.[44] Nonetheless, the AntAgonizer is appalled by ideas such as reason, logic, and discussion as they are human flaws; she contrastingly favors and respects strength.[44][42] Where humans are "cruel, hurtful beasts" to her, ants are instead the loyal product of countless years of evolution, bound to outlive mankind.[10][40] Subsequently, when addressing humans, she carries an often haughty and condescending tone, and speaks to them as though they are beneath her.[40][9]
If questioned about whether she truly thinks she is an ant, the AntAgonizer will deny the allegation and defensively ask whether the Lone Wanderer thinks she is insane.[38] She similarly denies having taken the AntAgonizer persona from a comic, dismissing the suggestion that she would ever get such an idea from a "children's book."[4] She is oblivious to her own derangement, and wishes to lead her ant colony to victory, which consists of making a "trophy of the entire world."[7][28] She occasionally talks to herself, and seldom speaks in a warm manner; her friendly tone is restricted to moments such as potentially reassuring the player character that when she has to inevitably kill them, she will grant a swift death to a friend of her court.[8][28] Similarly, few things make her happy, which includes agreeing to help her put an end to the Mechanist, and giving her his suit—both of which make her think about the positive impact on her colony.[41][45]
A cause for why Tanya developed the AntAgonizer persona stems from her childhood, as each time she recalls her family, she speaks of them in a disgusted manner.[7] She was subjected to such a high amount of fear and pain in her youth, to the point that it has taken a toll on her mental health, and she now associates all humans with the same disdain.[7][36] Consequently, she believes humans are beyond redemption, though can be convinced that even if humanity has made mistakes, she should still give them a chance.[10] This causes her to become uncertain of her identity, as she realizes she does not want to be like those who have hurt her in her past, especially if the Lone Wanderer says they believe in her; she will then beg for another chance, surrender her suit and persona, and ask to be let go.[46] Alternatively, Tanya can be convinced that even the fictional AntAgonizer is worthy of redemption, and she is shocked by this revelation, as she had thought all along that they both would never have a "chance to go back to being normal."[5] She becomes a little hopeful after this, but is utterly betrayed if she is told afterwards that she will never have a chance, and will instead be killed.[47][48]
The Superhuman Gambit: After witnessing the latest battle between the AntAgonizer and Mechanist, the Lone Wanderer is offered payment by Uncle Roe to put an end to the struggle between the "supers."
Effects of player's actions[]
Wrath of the AntAgonizer: If the Lone Wanderer sides with the AntAgonizer during "The Superhuman Gambit," there is a random encounter later on in which they find the AntAgonizer and a group of her ants attacking a group of wastelanders. The AntAgonizer is neutral towards the Lone Wanderer but will turn hostile if they attack her ants.
The Lone Wanderer can convince her to stop harassing the town without passing the Speech challenge. If she is told that the Lone Wanderer knows where she got the inspiration for her AntAgonizer identity, and convinces her that there may be a second chance for her, she will give up her costume and leave. The player character will gain Karma if they manage to convince the AntAgonizer to give up her superhuman identity. She may then be seen wandering the wasteland near Megaton without her AntAgonizer costume.
Her costume can be obtained by a male Lone Wanderer with the Lady Killer perk.
The AntAgonizer will reward her unique knife, Ant's Sting, as a reward if the Mechanist is either killed or convinced to give up and his costume brought to her.
If the Lone Wanderer gets the Mechanist's costume by killing or convincing him to stop and confronts the AntAgonizer while wearing the Mechanist's costume, she will confront the Lone Wanderer as the Mechanist and say that "he finally came to their final battle." This will result in her attacking with a Ripper instead of the Ant's Sting, alongside some soldier ants.
PCXbox 360 Sometimes she can glitch and end up standing outside of Megaton, still dressed in her costume but unaccompanied by her ants. This bug can occur if The Superhuman Gambit was completed without visiting her. [verified]

He'll learn that no one can stand before my royal regiment of fighting ants! Explain yourself! Why shouldn't I have my pretties kill you where you stand?" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Do you know anything about the AntAgonizer or the Mechanist?" Joe Porter: "You mean, apart from having cheesy names? Actually, I think I might know something useful. One of the traders told me she sounded like a girl he used to know. Girl's whole family was wiped out by ants, not long before she showed up here. But they never found any trace of her body. Said her name was 'Tanya Christoff.' That might just be our little AntAgonizer." (Joe Porter's dialogue)
↑ 4.04.1The Lone Wanderer: "You got this "AntAgonizer" idea from a comic, didn't you?" The AntAgonizer: "What? No! No children's book could possibly capture the true depth of the AntAgonizer!" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 5.05.15.2The Lone Wanderer: "I read that the AntAgonizer was an orphaned girl who could still be redeemed." The AntAgonizer: "You... You really believe that? When I read that comic, it made explained so much. Where I came from, who I was destined to be, what I had to do... But it never said the AntAgonizer could ever have a chance to go back to being normal. It never said I had a chance... Please... I think I've made some terrible mistakes. If you really think I still have a chance, just let me go. I'll give you the suit. No one ever has to see the AntAgonizer again. Just please, let me have another chance." (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 7.07.17.27.37.47.57.6The Lone Wanderer: "Without your suit, you're just a normal human like anyone else." The AntAgonizer: "Lies! Unlike the rest of you peasants, I was born for greatness. I was never meant to crawl in the muck of mankind! But the ants knew my destiny. When I was but a larva, they rescued me from my filthy human family. They saw my nobility, and they saved me from a human life of fear and pain. Now, I will lead them to their glorious future!" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 8.08.1The Lone Wanderer: "Relax. I'm here to help you get rid of that Mechanist character." The AntAgonizer: "This is an unexpected surprise! A human who understands its place. One who realizes that ants are destined to walk this land, while humans and their toys are destined only to rot beneath it?Perhaps, even a human who wants to join the winning side, yes? One that would humbly beg admittance to the ant queen's court?" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 9.09.19.29.39.49.5The Lone Wanderer: "Your days of terrorizing the town are over. Give up and you won't get hurt." The AntAgonizer: "Ha ha! You would walk here and presume to command me? Humanity's time has come to an end. Your kind died because it knew only petty bickering and wars. But not so, the noble ant! It works with its brethren, knowing only loyalty and duty. And this is why they have grown, while humanity crumbled! Once I've finished with that pathetic Mechanist, I will be free to spread my colonies across the Wastes!" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 10.010.110.2The Lone Wanderer: "Humanity's made mistakes, but there's still a chance for us. And for you, Tanya." The AntAgonizer: "You're wrong. Humans are cruel, hurtful beasts! They can't be saved... we can't be...I can't... I can't go back. But I can't keep doing this. I can't be as bad as they were. Please... I think I've made some terrible mistakes. If you really think I still have a chance, just let me go. I'll give you the suit. No one ever has to see the AntAgonizer again. Just please, let me have another chance." (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "What can you tell me about the AntAgonizer?" Derek Pacion: "I don't know much about her, except she really, really doesn't like people. That's kinda cool. I mean, sometimes people are jerks. I think her lair is somewhere in the caves to the north of the city. I've seen her ants down there once in a while. Joe Porter said he found out something about her, but my uncle won't let him tell me. He says, 'Don't encourage the poor boy.'" (Derek Pacion's dialogue)
↑ 12.012.1The Lone Wanderer: "What can you tell me about the AntAgonizer?" Dominic D'Ellsadro: "I don't know who she is, other than a crazy with an ant suit and a chip on her shoulder for humanity. She wasn't much trouble by herself, really. Her attacks were a joke, but at least stories of her kept some of the raiders at bay. If it helps, she was always attacking from the warrens up North. Maybe you can find her ant nest in there." (Dominic D'Ellsadro's dialogue)
↑ 13.013.113.2The Lone Wanderer: "What can you tell me about the AntAgonizer?" Ernest Roe: "One day there was a crazy woman leading a bunch of ants into town. She said humanity was dead and the ants would inherit the Earth. Stuff like that. Well, that gave Dom plenty of time to line up a shot or two on the ants. She ran away, but every once in a while, she'd stage an 'attack' again. She wasn't much of a threat, then. In fact, she was sort of entertaining, at first. Gave everyone in town something to talk about. But when the Mechanist started fighting her, things got bad. Ants are easy to shoot, but add robots with lasers, and it got real nasty." (Ernest Roe's dialogue)
↑ 14.014.114.2The Lone Wanderer: "What can you tell me about the Mechanist?" Ernest Roe: "The Mechanist used to be our town mechanic. Scott Wollinksi, quiet guy, but plenty fierce with a wrench and some solder. Guy used to take care of a robot that protected the town... until it got torn up in one of the AntAgonizer's lame little attacks.I guess he took it personal, because he made a mechanical suit and called himself the Mechanist. Said he would lead a robot army to fight her. Now he doesn't even respond to his name, and his 'robot army' is more dangerous to the town than the ants ever were." (Ernest Roe's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Why did you decide to become the Mechanist?" The Mechanist: "Long ago, I was a mere citizen like yourself. Beyond a talent for computers, I had no power in this world. But then the AntAgonizer attacked, and killed someone very dear to me. The damage was too much for me to fix her. But I knew what I had to do. That tragedy burned away the weakness of my previous life, and in the fires of revenge, the Mechanist was forged!" (The Mechanist's dialogue)
↑ 16.016.1The Lone Wanderer: "What can you tell me about the Mechanist?" Derek Pacion: "I knew the Mechanist back when he was just a normal-hero. He used to be called Scott, and he fixed up stuff around town! But one day, the AntAgonizer killed his favorite robot, and I told him he ought to fight back against her like a real super-hero! Ever since then, he's been up in his Forge in the back of the robot shop on the hill, working to protect us all from the AntAgonizer!" (Derek Pacion's dialogue)
↑ 17.017.1The AntAgonizer: "Now, fool, tremble before the might of the AntAgonizer!" The Mechanist: "You'll never get away with terrorizing this town. Not while it's under the protection of the Mechanist!" The AntAgonizer: "You and your pathetic tin cans are no match for my army! Muahahaha!" The Mechanist: "The citizens of this town have nothing to fear! The Mechanist is here to protect them!" The AntAgonizer: "Ha! We'll see about that! Attack, my ant soldiers! Destroy this fool and his tin toys!" The Mechanist: "Go forth, my steadfast creations! Show these vermin humanity's true power!" The AntAgonizer: "Face it, Mechanist! Humans and their toys are done for. They killed themselves off with their petty wars!" (The AntAgonizer and the Mechanist's dialogue) Note: This interaction only plays when first entering Canterbury Commons and witnessing the AntAgonizer and Mechanist confronting each other on the street.
↑ 18.018.1The Lone Wanderer: "You seem to be pretty calm, considering there was just war in your streets." Ernest Roe: "That must be the twentieth time I've seen those two go at it. They're our problem citizens: the Mechanist and the AntAgonizer. A while ago, we were attacked by the AntAgonizer that woman with the ants, obviously. The Mechanist saved the town with his robots. That was all well and good, but I swear their fights are getting bigger, and it's been driving off the merchants. They simply won't leave!" (Ernest Roe's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "I'm just passing through. Don't bug me with your problems." Ernest Roe: "Please, we really do need someone to stop the Mechanist and the AntAgonizer. We can pay! They've been using this town as their battlefield, and now some of the merchants are avoiding us! If something isn't done, the town will be ruined!" (Ernest Roe's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Those guys must really liven the place up, huh? Anyone ever get hurt?" Derek Pacion: "You think they're neat too, huh? It's not like they ever hurt anyone. Well not, like, really badly hurt, or anything.Dom and Machete make sure everyone gets inside when they fight like that. Though sometimes I sneak out to watch! The traders and the Slavers and the Raiders, they don't like the AntAgonizer or the Mechanist. They say they're 'bad for business.'But that's dumb. The ants and the robots rip 'em to shreds. That shows them!" (Derek Pacion's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "What can you tell me about the Mechanist?" Dominic D'Ellsadro: "You mean Scott Wollinksi. I refuse to call him by that ridiculous name just because his head got a screw loose. He used to be a damned good friend, and not just because he fixed my guns up. Now he spends all his time up in that 'bot shop, just thinking about fighting that AntAgonizer. Hardly even recognizes his own name, anymore." (Dominic D'Ellsadro's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Know anything else that could help me stop them?" Dominic D'Ellsadro: "If you could just get make either one of them stop fighting, it'd do the trick. You probably wouldn't have to worry about the other one. I can't imagine Scott attacking the town with his robots, and that AntAgonizer girl was never much more than a sideshow freak by herself. Roe may prefer that you're thorough, but all I care about is that you get the job done, one way or the other." (Dominic D'Ellsadro's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "What was all that about? Who were those people?" Ernest Roe: "The, um... Mechanist and the AntAgonizer. That's just what they call themselves. Ridiculous, I know... A while ago, we were attacked by the AntAgonizer - that woman with the ants, obviously. The Mechanist saved the town with his robots. That was all well and good, but I swear their fights are getting bigger, and it's been driving off the merchants. They simply won't leave!" (Ernest Roe's dialogue)
↑ 24.024.1The Lone Wanderer: "What are their super powers? Do they have any weaknesses?" Derek Pacion: "That's easy! The AntAgonizer's suit makes her super-agile, but I guess her ants are pretty weak on their own. Just watch out for her royal guard. The Mechanist's robots are a lot tougher, and his suit makes him super-smart. I don't think he has any weaknesses. Well, maybe one. Since he's a good guy, he's not as ruthless as the AntAgonizer. Like, he'd never hurt an innocent like me... if he could help it." (Derek Pacion's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Life around here is pretty hard, huh?" Derek Pacion: "Yeah, I guess. There's no one to play with. Everyone is so serious. It really kinda sucks. But the AntAgonizer's strong and forceful, and the Mechanist, he's smart and good. They make things fun. Well, exciting anyway.I bet it's awesome to be them. Maybe they'll let me be their sidekick?" (Derek Pacion's dialogue)
↑Machete: "When you find those two costumed idiots, put a bullet in their heads for me." (Machete's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Do you know anything about the AntAgonizer or the Mechanist?" Machete: "I know Dom doesn't want me just killing them. He and the Mechanist used to be friends or something. All I know is next time they come to town, I bet I could solve the whole problem with one bullet for each of them." (Machete's dialogue)
↑ 28.028.128.2The Lone Wanderer: "Don't waste your time with this suit. It isn't worthy of your attention." The AntAgonizer: "You're right. Why bother with a trophy of one pitiful human, when I can go forth and make a trophy of the entire world! But when the time comes, remember: as a friend of the Ant Queen's court, you will know the mercy of a quick, painless death. Now, leave me. I must prepare to leave the pitiful town of Canterbury and plan for greater conquests." (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑The Mechanist: "What are you doing in here? How did you get past my defenses? Did the AntAgonizer send you?Speak now citizen or I'll be forced to detain you until I can ascertain your true motives!" (The Mechanist's dialogue)
↑The Mechanist: "Aha! Vile AntAgonizer! You've got a lot of moxie, invading my private sanctum! Pretty courageous, for a spineless insect! But this is as far as you go. Now it's time to put down the foot of justice and crush your nefarious plans once and for all!" (The Mechanist's dialogue)
↑ 31.031.1The Lone Wanderer: "There's bound to be a peaceful solution. I'll try to convince her to give up." The Mechanist: "The AntAgonizer does not listen to reason. She does not understand true human emotions, like mercy or love. She's nothing more than an animal, and you can no more talk her into surrender than you can play chess with a Mole Rat! But I will not stop you from trying. I only hope that you live long enough to learn the error of your ways." (The Mechanist's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Whatever. I just want her dead so I can get paid." The Mechanist: "Oh... well... I suppose the ends justify the means...I mean, it's not the most heroic of reasons, but killing the AntAgonizer is a noble act regardless of the motivation, I guess. In that case... wait! My sensors are showing that the AntAgonizer is attacking the Forge! She must have followed you! Quickly, she's already inside the front gate!" (The Mechanist's dialogue)
↑The Mechanist: "Vile minion of the AntAgonizer, you and your creepy mistress will face the unbending wrath of the Mechanist! Now, face death from the Mechanist!" (The Mechanist's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "I'm just here to talk. We can find a peaceful way to stop this fighting." The Mechanist: "I realize you mean well, but I'm afraid you're being naive. The AntAgonizer is a madwoman, and the only thing that will stop her is force. As much as I wish peace were an option, the AntAgonizer is too deluded, too inhuman to listen to reason.Sadly, sometimes the scaly claw of tyranny must be destroyed by the cold, unfeeling pincers of justice!" (The Mechanist's dialogue)
↑The AntAgonizer: "My spies tell me that meddling Mechanist has been removed from the picture. I only wish I had that tin-man's shell to gloat over! Bring me the suit of the Mechanist, and then we can talk." (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 36.036.1The Lone Wanderer: "Maybe you're right. Maybe I should join your side." The AntAgonizer: "Yes, you would join me in fighting the Mechanist! Him and his little tin men, made by humans to kill humans for other humans. Would you turn your back on humanity's failings? Would you join the ant court in our destruction of the Mechanist and his hubris?" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Why do you want the suit?" The AntAgonizer: "Isn't it only fitting to gloat over the corpse of one's fallen foe? To revel in a victory over a larger and stronger opponent overcome? If I couldn't be there to personally strip the facade from the iron interloper, the least I am owed is a chance to gloat over his shell." (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 38.038.138.2The Lone Wanderer: "You do realize you're not really an ant... right?" The AntAgonizer: "Of course I do! Do you think I'm insane?! Why, with this suit, I'm more than any ant could hope to be! And ten times more than any mere mortal like you or the Mechanist! But now, the time for your prattle has come to an end. If you shall not bow before your ant queen, then bleed before the AntAgonizer!" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 40.040.140.2The Lone Wanderer: "Your ants are a joke. Time to die, crazy lady!" The AntAgonizer: "My loyal subjects are the result of 100 million years of evolution, and they'll outlive your pitiful kind. We'll see who has the last laugh! Now, my ant royal guard... Kill this unruly peasant!" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 41.041.141.2The Lone Wanderer: "I swear, we will destroy the Mechanist and his pitiful toys!" The AntAgonizer: "Excellent! Rise, my loyal soldier, and prepare for battle! We leave to fight the Mechanist immediately! Humanity shall fall; our colony shall feast! But... wait. I sense an intruder into my royal lair! Who dares interrupt my celebration? It must be the Mechanist! His meddlesome metal army is already inside! Destroy them!" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 42.042.1The Lone Wanderer: "I don't give a damn about your court. I just want the Mechanist dead." The AntAgonizer: "You're a rebellious little soldier, but I respect your strength. You may work with my colony for now. Humanity shall fall and our colony shall feast! But.. wait. I sense an intruder into my royal lair! Who dares interrupt my celebration? It must be the Mechanist! His meddlesome metal army is already inside! Destroy them!" (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑The AntAgonizer: "Perhaps humanity isn't dead yet, but I'll be sure to help it along. Its writhing corpse shall feed my colony well." (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑ 44.044.1The Lone Wanderer: "There's bound to be a peaceful solution. I'll try to convince him to give up." The AntAgonizer: "Ha! When it comes to the struggle for power, there is no peace! There is only strength and conflict!But... the Mechanist might just be foolish enough to give up. He believes in logic, and reason, and other tools of human weakness.Yes, go to the Mechanist and talk. Meanwhile, I will stay here and prepare for war! (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "Here, you can have it. Just move on and leave Canterbury alone." The AntAgonizer: "Excellent. It shall make a fine memento of a nemesis bested. A trophy of a foe... antagonized! For your loyal assistance, take this blade. Its sting carries the venom of a thousand ants, and your foes shall tremble before it! Now that the tin-plated menace is no more, I shall take my leave of this town. I do believe it's time for my colony to spread. (The AntAgonizer's dialogue)
↑The Lone Wanderer: "We all make mistakes, but there's still a chance for us. I believe in you." The AntAgonizer: "You're wrong. Humans are cruel, hurtful beasts! They can't be saved... we can't be...I can't... I can't go back. But I can't keep doing this. I can't be as bad as they were. Not if someone like you believes in me. Please... I think I've made some terrible mistakes. If you really think I still have a chance, just let me go. I'll give you the suit. No one ever has to see the AntAgonizer again. Christoff thinks that Canterbury Commons—a major location in the trading route her parents helped put on the map—is a blight on the Wasteland. Locals used to see Christoff lurking in a sewer system to the north of town, covered in mud and dirt. Giant Ants eventually started hanging around. A few months ago, she disappeared and reappeared as the AntAgonizer and has been harassing the town ever since."

He traveled with the caravans for a few years working as an indentured servant. This is where he got the nickname "Bean," because his purchase was paid for with beans. He eventually bought his freedom and settled down in Canterbury Commons, where he lived a life of solitude, hiding in the electronics store, fiddling around with junk. After the AntAgonizer started showing up, he became the Mechanist to protect the town."
