Synopsis[]
Pete inadvertently buys a mechanical band that plays "When the Saints Go Marching In" -- a song that he absolutely loathes.

- Though this entire show has been known to play fast and loose with continuity (as was typical of many cartoons of its time, and is still typical of some shows to this day), this episode in particular really takes the cake, to the point that it almost practically writes itself out of continuity with the rest of the series:
- It is stated by P.J. that this episode takes place during July, yet the performance at the end of the episode is "the annual Spoonerville Homecoming Concert" by the Spoonerville Elementary school band, which would only happen during the school year and not in July (not to mention that elementary schools don't have homecoming events).
- Moreover, Max and P.J. are both shown to be members of the Spoonerville Elementary school band, despite most of their other appearances in episodes that feature them in school showing them to be middle school students at Spoonerville Jr. High. While it could be presumed that this episode simply takes place chronologically earlier in the Goof Troop timeline, set before the two enter 6th Grade, both Peg and Goofy refer to Pete's history of underhanded schemes, with Goofy especially noting how Pete has "stooped much lower than this! Hundred of times! Thousands of times!" as though this episode were supposed to come after a good number of other episodes in which Pete acted crafty, which would include episodes that featured Max and/or P.J. as middle school students.
- And finally, the ending scene reveals this entire episode to have all been nothing more than a nightmare dreamt by a living talking trumpet character who exists only in this episode's final scene, as though to say that the entire Goof Troop series itself might even just be a product of this trumpet's subconscious.
