CCNS121: Elegant Thanks

Hello!  For the neutrals challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such this month, I made a thank you card using Sue Wilson Spanish Collection - Seville Die, Thanks die by Elizabeth Craft Designs, and a trimmed butterfly from the Memory Box Fairyland butterflies.  I kept my palette neutral using white and gray cardstock.  The flowers are white and ivory.  I did use ultra thick embossing powder on my Thanks to add dimension and shine.  The Sue Wilson Dies were also popped up with small Joy! foam pads to emphasize the lacy cutouts.

Quietfire With Sympathy

I think Sympathy cards are so hard to make.  This one was especially hard as it was for a friend who lost her husband to cancer.  I wanted a card that showed I cared and took time to make.  After a couple of different starts, I ended up with this layered and flowered version.

I made my white layers using the Sue Wilson Spanish Seville Die collection and popped up each layer.  I then die cut the With Sympathy metal dies twice - out of lavender and then darker purple card stock.  I glued them and created a shadow effect by offsetting them just a bit.  I then raided my Wild Orchid Flowers stash to created my floral sprays.

CCNS88 - Rustic Wedding

When I saw the inspiration photo for this week's CCNS challenge, I immediately thought of the rustic weddings that seem to be growing in popularity.  Who knew that a barn could make for a lovely backdrop to weddings?  I love how creative people can be!  I'm not so bold but I can attempt it on cards if not in real life. ;)

I started with a scrap sheet of woodgrain paper I found and though it didn't turn out quite how I pictured it, I think I got the rustic feel of it!  What do you think?

The woodgrain paper is adhered to a Bazzill Mud Slide cardstock for contrast.  I also popped up the Sue Wilson Spanish Collection - Seville Die on the same dark brown.  So that the card would not be so stark, I sponged all the edges of my layers as well as Memory Box Fresh Foliage clippings with Tea Dye to age it a bit.  My Scripture is from ODBD Love One Another, stamped in black pigment ink and then clear embossed.  Finally, I hot glued some Kaisercraft blooms to frame my verse.

CCNS84: Your Love, O Lord

For the daisy challenge this week at Classy Cards 'n Such, I went with a blue and white color combination.  I started with a blue card base, then a white one using the largest Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A, and then a blue one using Sue Wilson Spanish Collection - Seville Die.  The ornate layer was bigger than my A2 card base so I trimmed off a portion of the center.  Don't worry!  I knew ahead of time that I would use some embellishments to cover the seam line.

My Bible verse from ODBD Faith set was stamped with MomentoLuxe Nautical Blue (my current favorite) and then clear embossed. I centered it using Spellbinders Ovals and then used small Joy! foam pads to pop it up from another die cut by Spellbinders Floral Ovals.  My daisies were made using two sizes of Recollection daisy punches and curled with Paper Blossoms Tool Kit.  I arranged trimmed off leaves from Memory Box Fresh Foliage as a base for my daisies as well as to hide the seam line for my shortened blue lacey layer.  I then added my stacked ovals on the center of my card and then pearls to the center of my daisies.  It sounds like a bunch of steps but this was actually one of my quicker cards.  Die cuts are amazing!

Mothers hold...

Does anyone else send cards to not just your own mother but to those who have been like a mother to you at some point in your life?  I do - I am so thankful for them.  So I like to make Mother's Day cards more elaborate and special.  I think this beautiful quote is just sweet  and really shows appreciation for moms.

I framed it using Spellbinder's Majestic Squares and shortened Sue Wilson Spanish Collection - Seville Dies.  I hid the line where I connected the two piece with a piece of seam binding and added some Wild Orchid Flowers and a triple bow on the bottom.  The paper is from ODBD Shabby Rose Collection - perfect for a soft background.  The sentiment was stamped with Momento Luxe Nautical Blue and embossed with clear embossing powder.

Be Still

My  Sue Wilson Spanish Collection - Seville Die Set are still out on my (very messy) desk so I went ahead and made another card with them.  This time I made a shaped card using the next largest die as my card base.  But first I made a soft green background with touches of blue for my background using the Twinkling H2O's Thankful set.  I used the next largest die from the Seville Set to trim it so that it could be my base.  I then popped up the gorgeous intricate white layer up with strips cut from the Joy! Foam Pads.  My verse from Verve is embossed with white detail embossing powder.  My final addition is a 3 layered butterfly:  PoppyStamps Cheviot Butterfly in white card stock, another on vellum colored with Copic markers and the top is the PoppyStamps Delaney Butterfly using Lovely Lavender metal craft sheet.  All were adhered using Art Institute Clear Dries Clear Adhesive.  I hope you like it!

CCNS81: Thanks

One of my favorite flowering trees are cherry blossoms and I am definitely living in the right area for it.  It's beautiful in DC but there are plenty of neighborhoods throughout Northern Virginia to enjoy the short-lived blooms.

Or you could put some on a card to make it last even longer!  :)

I am IN LOVE with the Sue Wilson Spanish Collection - Seville Die.  It's so intricate and elegant - and so easy to make a card because you really don't need much else.  I used white and kraft card stock for my base layers.  The kraft layer is popped up by cutting up strips of the Joy! Foam Pads.  My center panel is a sentiment from Quietfire Design's Thanks Cuddlers and embossed with black detail embossing powder and also popped up. The clusters of flowers are made with Momenta Cherry Blossoms dies and clipped sections of Memory Box Fresh Foliage.  The blossoms were sponged with Picked Raspberry and the leaves with watercolored and then sponged with Mowed Lawn.

Isn't that elegant frame just perfect with the calligraphic stamp inside?  :)
