Lindwurm (XC2)

Lindwurm is a secret organization in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It is an anti-Ardainian terrorist group founded by Don Dondon.

Lore[edit]

Lindwurm was founded by Don Dondon, possibly after his retirement as a salvager. The organization's purpose is to destroy the Empire of Mor Ardain. This makes them an enemy of both the regular army and the rebel organization Brionac. It is supposedly supported by Nopon merchants, foremost among them Don Dondon's son and chairman of the Argentum Trade Guild, Bana, who diverted money from Argentum towards the organization and supplied them with artificial Blades. Another supporter of Lindwurm appears to be the Urayan nobility, with many of Lindwurm's agents being Urayan Drivers, such as Walraig, Akatsuki's Driver.

Lindwurm seems to have agents in many of Alrest's nations and organizations, such as Walraig and Akatsuki, who infiltrated Brionac, or Stulc, who is an Ardainian senator. The organization also appears to have a lot of influence on the Argentum Trade Guild, most likely due to the Don's history with the guild, with Don Dondon claiming that they have been pulling the guild's strings. It is possible that Lindwurm, along with Bana's policies as chairman, are to thank for the guild's prosperity.

Throughout quests involving Lindwurm, the party starts to slowly uncover the syndicate's existence, first from one of its agents who infiltrated Brionac to destroy them from the inside, Akatsuki. Later on, Stulc tries to flee Mor Ardain toward Uraya, but is stopped at Port Anangham by the party. He successfully escapes them by telling Brionac that Alba Cavanich was vulnerable, provoking an attack from the organization's remains that takes the party away from the port. He rendezvouses with his superior in Lindwurm, Zadazan, on the Great Stairway; Zadazan knocks him out after blaming him for the human cost of Brionac's fall. Zadazan ends up successfully escaping the party. Lindwurm also appears to be supporting Dr. Castrofari's activities during Eternal Spirit, with Lindwurm troops aiding in the doctor's escape.

After Niranira uncovers the movement of money from Bana toward Lindwurm, he pinpoints the organization's headquarters in Leftheria, Island Base Lindwurm. After the party goes there, dealing with Zadazan on the way, they arrive in the Don's Red Room. Don Dondon fights the party with a weapon made from artificial Blade technology. After his defeat, Don Dondon joins his son running on the wheel in Goldmouth and the organization is disbanded.
