Bumbleshoots are floating plant-like enemies in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. They are encountered on Twistee Island, where they swoop down at Mario and Luigi if they are near. Bumbleshoots have alternating petals of dark blue and cyan and with four spinning leaves on top of their head used for flight. Their name is a pun on "bumbershoot", an old term for "umbrella".
Red variants of Bumbleshoots, known as Parashoots, appear on Raynforst Island. Later on in the game, Bumbleshoots become infected with Glohm, becoming Glohm Bumbleshoots. After Reclusa reawakens, Glohm Bumbleshoots get even stronger.
Battle[edit]
Bumbleshoots float above the ground during battle, so some attacks will miss them. They have two attacks; both are avoided by jumping, and their behavior is determined by the endpoint of their action prior to the attack:
- Bumbleshoots can zip around Mario or Luigi before flying towards their location. If their final position is to the right of their target, the Bumbleshoot flies directly at them. If Bumbleshoots appear at the left before charging, they will fly over Mario or Luigi. Bumbleshoots can be counterattacked during both variants of this attack, though the latter can also be dodged by not jumping, and jumping with the wrong timing may result in impact.
- They can swoop down at a brother from above. No matter which direction they come from, Bumbleshoots always fly directly above their target, but can be counterattacked. However, an incorrectly-timed jump can cause them to collide with Mario or Luigi.
