- A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty is the second book of the Kingdom of Lies series. This is a romantic epic fantasy and picks up immediately after the events of the prior book. Our main characters show more are traversing the realm (sometimes together, sometimes not) to try to stop the evil human King, thwart the Fae King and help the hybrids. Tropes include angst, banter, hate to love, and found family.
The Lovely: The characters, main and otherwise, were again so well fleshed out. The relationships between the FMC and the side characters are each unique and I loved seeing how the relationships changed, especially between her brothers. The FMC’s relationship with the morally dark gray MMC was varied and at times rocky, just as you would expect with what they were going through.
Also Lovely: Where this book really improved over book one was the tension and plot. I never got bored with this book and actually read it in one day because I couldn’t put it down. A lot was happening in various places but the author kept it flowing and it didn’t seem chaotic.
The Mundane: I would have liked to have seen more world building in terms of the physical environment and the characters in particular.
The Dreadful: nada
Rating: 5/5 Stars 3/5 Spicy Flames
Recommendation: I loved this book even more than the first one. It was a wild ride all the way through and the ending left me sitting on my bed, jaw dropped. I actually kept hitting the page forward button because I couldn’t believe the cliffhanger happened. If you like romantasy with a twisty plot line and a character relationship where there’s a morally gray male character, I think you would like this book. show less - Lending

Description
"Risk everything for your kingdom...Or be destroyed by it. In a world darkened by deceit, the truth is a light that won't be dimmed. Even when it illuminates Lorian's betrayals more starkly than I could ever want to see. They call him the Bloodthirsty Prince. His reign of terror has left a trail of blood across this continent. A trail that intertwines with my own past-not even my parents were spared from his merciless slaughter. To save my brother's life, I agreed to another bargain with the show more fae prince. Now, I'm forced to work with him. Forced to travel to the fae lands. Forced to spend my every waking moment with the man who betrayed me. All because King Sabium has woven a deadly tapestry of manipulation, using those we least suspect for his wicked schemes. There are no lines I won't cross to protect the people I love. So I'll work with former enemies. I'll manipulate, blackmail, and deceive potential allies. I'll swallow my pride, ignore my shattered heart, and cooperate with the fae to prepare for the coming war. Because there are creatures far more monstrous than the fae. And some of them masquerade as men."--Back cover. show lessTags

4.5 Audiobook, Fantastic duel narrators
I loved book 1, it was fun. This one was more fun, more danger, more conflict, more connections, more disasters, more of everything ! The ending sucked me right off a cliff, kicking and screaming, then it ended. Booooooooo !
This is not a YA in anyway, lots of sexy detailed moments.
