This book has me torn. I strongly disliked it. The language was immature, the events sloppy and unrealistic and the characters incredibly bland and 2 dimensional. That being said I do not think it was written to be enjoyed by a mid-thirties disabled bibliophile mother of 1. Taking a different perspective of say an adhd child who has difficulty staying with a longer book for any number of reasons and the book shines. Immature language? That is how the kid hears around themselves. Unrealistic events, kids LOVE those, the world to them is open. Bland characters? Easily relatable. Basically every objection I have to this book is washed away through the eyes of who this book is FOR.
I strongly disliked this book but I highly recommend it. This book should be on every kids shelf.

It was an enjoyable read, fairly easy in terms of following the story. No big surprises or complicated plots. Not really deep either. Good for a casual read on a beach or snuggled up by the fire.

I’ve been putting off starting this book for a while but I really wish I hadn’t. I literally couldn’t put it down. Stayed up all night thoroughly engrossed in Audrey and Soberly. Everything felt real, the interactions were normal, the chemistry and reactions and feelings. I swear I’ve had conversations in real life that Audrey experienced. I fell head over heels with this book, the pace was fantastic. The only criticism I think I could give it was the occasional grammar fail. Missing words that should be there, my brain provided the proper word but my eyes said “hey it’s missing.” All in all I will read it again and be just as entranced.

I had high hopes for this book and was sadly disappointed. Not quite a how to book not quite an auto-biography not quite any one thing. Which can sometimes be good but I really felt myself dragging through this book and finding myself bored. I didn’t really connect with anything and I desperately wanted too. I often felt myself wanting to put it aside to read more immersive books until I finally was firm with myself. I’m sure it has an audience, but I don’t think I’m it.

Like the main Character, I challenged myself to read only one chapter at a time. It was certainly worth the suspense. A wonderful read and one I am already reading aloud to my daughter. Thoroughly immersive although a bit slow to get started.

An easy and enjoyable collection of stories. Familiar or not with Baba Yaga, you are sure to be pleased at the different faces of this folktale star!
