I Couldn’t put this down!
Admitted, these two and their love story were definitely not what I expected and for having gotten the best trope in the romance universe, the (true) enemies-to-lovers wasn't as intense or lasting as I had hoped for so I can see why readers might be disappointed with what they got with Bellamy (Lust) and Phoenix (a high ranked demon and the sworn enemy). But, I loved them anyway. Hard.
💀💀💀
And god, it got sappy from time to time as in all the other books. *lol But other than that I had a great time with this book. Not only with the romance but also with the overall plot that was imo the strongest or at least the most exciting one so far. It was nice getting some intel on the underworld.
Despite him being the villain I found Phoenix entertaining as hell and loved his thoughts and banter with others. So here’s my best-of Phoenix :
This def won’t be the last time I listened to their story. Can’t wait to see them again in the remaining books.
But for now tho, I’m taking a break with the series. First, because I think I need it and second, I’ll def wait for the last audios to release. I’m really looking forward to Raiden’s and Titan’s story.

I hadn’t felt anything in a long time. Not since the day my soul reached out for a certain blond-haired Nephilim. One I could never have. One who was my sworn enemy. And one I had no choice but to someday destroy.
I Couldn’t put this down!

As Bellamy moved from my neck and kissed me, the taste of my blood on his lips, I knew I wouldn’t lift a finger to save the world.
But I would burn everything down to save him.

“What are you waiting for, a fancy invitation? Stick it in or I’ll find someone else who will.”
“Someone else? They won’t fuck you like I can.”
Humor danced in his eyes. “Prove it.”
“They’ll know I’m yours. My mark is on you, but yours is on my soul.”
“You’re such a damn cheeseball.”
“But who saves the hero?”
“I save myself.”
“You don’t have to.” […] “You can stay with me and watch everything burn.”
“Would it be corny for me to say my heart’s desire is always where you are?”
Phoenix rolled his eyes. “Extremely corny. Don’t say it again.”
“But if you die, I’ll never forgive you.”
“And if you die, I’ll find a way to resurrect you and then kill you myself for pissing me off.”
“You’ll marry me?”
“I must be out of my goddamn mind, but yes,” Phoenix said. “I’m not saying cheesy shit in front of your brothers at the wedding though. That’s where I draw the line.”
This def won’t be the last time I listened to their story. Can’t wait to see them again in the remaining books.

@Nicole - bahaha, no I wouldn't say that. Sure there was a softer side to him that got coaxed out of him by Bellamy but (at least at first) it was the strong hold of the fated bond that made him unable to resist and start to care at all. 😂 But it was cute to see how all that went completely against his nature and what he knew of himself. Fate really fucked them both with this particular choice for fated mates. 🤣
Oh I’m happy you loved this so much! I wanted more hate sex and pining but I did like their romance.
@alicia - to be totally honest, this is only barely a five star but as I loved this book the most so far I thought it deserved being ranked a bit higher than the others. 😂
@Megan - agreed! The author chose a totally different way for their story than everyone expected. And I can really understand why this was disappointing for you and others. I just chose to not be. But hell, I was hoping for good hate sex too. 😭
Great review, hon 💗 Glad you’re having fun with the series. And yay, there’s a MC called Alastair. Don’t usually see my hubby’s name pop up in romances 🤣
Love that feeling when you love reading something so much, you can't put it down. Really glad that was the case for you here, Kati! Wonderful review! 🩵
yes yes welcome to the club, lovely! 😜😜i remember i had so much fun with these two. my fave!! happy you loved it. can’t wait to see what you’d think of Al
Amazing review Kati ♥️♥️ Bellamy and Phoenix still have me in a chokehold. So glad you enjoyed their book!!!!!!! ♥️
@Dani - Thank you!! 💜 as much as I loved Bellamy as part of the bunch, I must say, I've fallen the hardest for Phoenix. I was intrigued by him since his first appearance no matter the evil he'd done throughout the series I was destined to fall in love with him. 😂🫠
@Elisa - awww, your hubby's name is Alastair? 😍 You might be pleased to know that Alastair in this series is not only a beautiful Fallen Angel but also a the leader of this bunch. A bit uptight but I hope he'll loosen up a bit in his own book at the latest. 😅
@Iman - aw, thanks, hon. ❤️ I had so much fun with them. I mean, I wouldn't label Phoenix funny but I loved his dry humor. I'm already looking forward to my re-listen of certain books, esp theirs. 🥰
So happy you loved this too Kati! Lovely review! I remembered those Phoenix-isms and it was really enjoyable.😀
@Amina - sadly, that didn't happen rather rarely this year with the books I've chosen. I hope for a few more before the year is over. My fave list for 2023 is rather short so far. 😭
Thanks so much, @Iz ❤️ I def loved them most of all so far too, but you gotta admit too that this was not what we all expected it to be, right? I mean, there could've been at least a bit more tension and animosities between them, right? 😂 Man, that fate bond got them quick and easy.
@lila - it's the best feeling of all but why didn't it happen more often to me this year??? 😭 Thank you, sweets. 💗

Lol!!! There’s only one other book I’ve come across with an Alastair, and a Glendenning too, but he’s kind of an asshole 🤣 I’ll be on the lookout for your review, when you get back to the series 😀

@Pingmg - Phoenix is probably my favorite character in the whole series. So happy to see you loved them so much too. 💜

🤣🤣🤣 that is so cool! I never had much luck with either our first or last name(s). Although sharing a name with an on-page asshole is maybe nothing one likes to really brag about either. 😅

Ooh yes definitely! I don't think I've come across a romance where I have been 100% satisfied with the enemies-to-lovers arc. The fated bond here kinda spoils the fun out of that trope, but on the other hand, I thought the previous books built up to it quite nicely, with Bellamy acting all mysterious and moody and conflicted. Plus, I really loved that Phoenix didn't turn into a good guy overnight because he's still pretty much on his side and on Bellamy's side only, the rest of the world be damned 👏🏻👏🏻

@Iz - 💯 agreed!!!! I'm really damn curious to see them in the remaining books and see how Phoenix will fair in his new life on the good side without being good himself 🤣
I thought a Phoenix was intriguing and hot right from book 1 🥰 can’t wait to catch up with you and see how I like your favourite!
@Cat - be prepared to be surprised. 😆 Phoenix is probably my fave character of all but their story really went a lot different than I expected/hoped it would. But still... 🥰
The audios were soooo good! I can't wait to re-listen to the series after Alastair's book comes out. I can't wait to see who your favorite brother will be!
