ARC kindly provided by the publisher St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
WARNING: this is a dark romance and there are certain aspects that some readers won't feel comfortable with.
Once again, welcome to the world of Russian mafia!
Yet another great, dark read by Tillie Cole! At times, quite disturbing and brutal, but still captivating.
I just love Scarred souls series, and I can't wait for the continuation of the story.
Ravage is the book three in the series.
I am not so sure that you can read this a standalone, so I strongly recommend to read the books in order. Trust me, you won't be sorry.
I am not always in the mood for gritty, dark and emotional stories that push boundaries, but when it comes to Tillie, I never miss my chance to pick put her books.
It took me some time to get into the hero and heroine, and their relationship.
So, since Ravage picks up where Reap has ended, in Reap, we learned that Zaal's sister is alive, and this is where Tillie takes us this time.
Her name is Zoya, and she lives cut off from the world for the past twenty years, hiding in an apartment in NYC. She is forced to stay inside, protected from those who try to harm her, but all she really wants is to find her brother.
Valentin /194 is a killer and a damaged soul. A perfect, ruthless, killer machine. Kidnapped at the age of twelve, and abused since early childhood. In order to keep his younger sister Inessa alive, he has to obey the Mistress and the Night Wraiths. His body is theirs to do what they wish. Under the influence of drugs, he becomes a monster, cold blooded killer - an assassin. His next assignment is Zaal Kostava, Zoya's brother. He is a man on a mission.. to capture and kill Zaal and everyone he loves.
After Zoya escapes her golden cage in NYC, and even before she has a chance to be reunited with her brother, she is captured by Valentin and held as his prisoner.
What will happen when the two of them find themselves feeling things they shouldn’t be feeling, experiencing a strange connection, I will not reveal. I will only say that I really liked Valentin's transition from a cold hearted beast into a beautiful human being.
I love the Tille's style and writing, and she sure didn't disappoint this time.
I loved reading about all other characters (Luca, Kisa, Zaal & Talia) from the previous books.
So, if you are into some good old dark romance, full of suspense, this one is for you.
I highly recommend it!
