#6 - Heart of Defiance by Eva Chase I might have liked this a bit more because I'm currently in the middle of the series set in the same world. I'm glad we finally get this way WAY in the past story about Signy because she's been mentioned so much in the series.
#10 - Bride of the Fae Duke by Lisette Marshall One of the, if not the, best story in this anthology. This was such a treat to read and I absolutely need to read more by her.
#17 - A Wedding of Cruelty and Peace by Suki Rose This one also had me hooked. I was really excited to see where it would all go, but then as soon as if felt like the story was starting, the book ended sooooo???? It really just ended out of nowhere which was frustrating and makes this more a sampler piece, but I enjoyed what I had read so much I'm including it in this list.

I've been putting off reading this book for weeks because I dislike Kaliya's self-destructive tendencies that she never grows from. This first chapter + prologue is suuuuch an example of that. She's supposed to be smart and deadly, but she really isn't. Cassius is her friend, but is honestly more like her keeper.
Also, the writing. I am getting so annoyed at the yelling then whispering. How tf does someone whisper to someone else from across the room AND WHY ARE YOU WHISPERING?!?! I'd take softly, menacingly, or angrily said/stated/rasped/hissed, but whispered??? Again, I've only read the prologue and 1 chapter -- out of 17 pages "whisper/ed" has been used 4 times. Whispering in regular conversation... sure this might not be a big deal, but I keep seeing it and I can't stop seeing it and now I'm bothered by it -_-"
The story itself? Executioner out for revenge against the people who slaughtered her family while trying to ignore her fated mate to keep him safe from enemies? Sure still great. But the characters and the writing are destroying it for me and I have been trying so hard to push through. UGH I love Jacky and have been doing a good job ignoring the whispering *rolls eyes* but I'm honestly not sure if I'll continue that series either. ...more
