Wow. It seems cliche to just say, "This art is beautiful." It's amazing. The detail is fantastic.
But wow, this story is really messed up.
It’s the kind of story that doesn’t bear constant interruptions. You have go away, put on some mood music, and pay attention.
It's intense. And at times uncomfortable. But it reminds us we need to remember there are dark things in this world that we need to remember and be aware of.
Sometimes it’s a little confusing. The politics. The peoples. But it’s worth reading again. And I think I’m going to.

I love the character of Red Sonja. But I wasn't really into this version of her.
I'm not sure what it was. Maybe it was the whole idea of the story. MI love the character of Red Sonja. But I wasn't really into this version of her.
I'm not sure what it was. Maybe it was the whole idea of the story. Maybe the writing. It's hard to put my finger on it.
Everything happened so quickly. It was like an epic story was forced to fit into a short story. It jumps right into the action, but it feels like sequences were cut out of a film. The whole thing felt rushed - the story, the writing, even the art. Almost as if they didn't have enough time to tell the story, or put the whole story together.
And the dialogue is a bit tedious and cliche.
And the whole storyline? It just didn't seem to fit a Red Sonja story.
Recommended maybe only for the most die-hard red Sonja fan.
Thanks to NetGalley, Diamond, and IDW for a copy in return for an honest review.

Wow. Kinda blown away. What a weird an interesting story! Though it does slightly remind me of an old short story I read in Omni magazine years and years ago. From what I remember, anyway.
But this was some great storytelling. Funny and suspenseful at different turns. I will definitely find and read the rest of this series. ...more
While I love fantasy, political intrigue is one of my least favorite things - whether it be in booksI happened across Volumes 1 and 2 at the library.
While I love fantasy, political intrigue is one of my least favorite things - whether it be in books or movies. It always seems like there’s not enough time to tell backstories and get to know characters. There are too many players, and too much going on to understand everything happening in a movie or comic. Is this what non-sci-fi fans feel when they watch science fiction?
I kinda got bored with this second volume. Though the art was cool.
I guess I wasn’t the only one. The story was to be continued, but there doesn’t seem to be a volume 3 on the horizon. ...more

But, besides the references to Doom, this could take place completely outside of the Secret Wars / Warzones / Battleworld.
This was the best of the Warzone (Secret Wars) Comics I’ve read. It didn’t hurt that it had the Guardians - but that didn’t help Mr. Bendis cf, Guardians of Knowhere.
Only the story you make for yourself will be strong enough to change who you truly are.
(And why did they drop the completely unrelated 1602 #1 at the end of this? Besides to get people to buy the 1602 comics? Good grief.)...more

Lots of unexpected commentary on modern social issues! Right up my alley.
There was also some great commentary on violence and war!
“…they acted like it was all a game, like honor or glory was an acceptable exchange for a life.”
And I love the subtle commentary on equality. There was an actual #freethenipple moment - which I did not expect.
And why do I always connect with the dorky, awkward protagonist? I began to wonder why people write dorky, awkward protagonists - not everyone feels that way. Then realized that this is a fantasy novel, and who is more likely to read a fantasy novel?...more
