A War of the Roses in an office setting!
These ladies really go after each other in a fierce way, digging their heels in every step of the way. The characters are all unlikeable with some being worse than others. The kind that give you a slimy feeling! EWW....
There are 4 narrators and they are all very dramatic (which matches the tone) and one had a southern drawl that got on my nerves (thank goodness he was a minor character).
Entertaining overall, but felt too long and a little repetitive with the same type thing happening over and over. It was fine for a mindless, light listen.

This was an entertaining listen from Audible. My first from this author.
I almost gave up several times during the first half because Lizzie was troublesome, but the second half really revved up. The author did a great job creating intrigue around the love triangle and throwing in some red herrings to keep the guessing game going!
We learn things at the party, a detective will be calling soon, and the question everyone wants to know is Where is Rebecca?
The narration was mostly good, but Dean's voice was robotic and made me almost laugh every time he spoke (then again it kinda matched his personality)!
The ending wasn't as surprising as I'd hope, but overall I enjoyed the book. 3 1/2 stars for the story and 4 stars for the narration. I would try another from the author.

I chose this Kindle Unlimited because it was a very short read (around 200 pages). I will say the pace was quick and headed straight into "train wreck" territory!
If you are looking for an afternoon distraction and don't mind an OTT plot, this one was readable.

Ludicrous AND Entertaining = A fun, but OTT popcorn thriller
Loved the cruise ship setting, but nearly half of the novel takes place during another timeline (which was a bit choppy going back and forth).
I was able to predict many of the OTT twists! As out there as they were! I knew it, haha....
I listened on Audible and it was a fun narration overall. The last third really ramped up the pace and couldn't wait to see how everything settled. I do plan to read The Chalet by this author (which I own).

Poor Stella is working two jobs. She is waitressing on Christmas Eve and can't wait until closing time so she can go home to her husband. It is their very first Christmas together.
If she could get the last customer to leave, she could finally go home. Her co-worker decides to get in the ladies face! "We're closing....." I laughed so hard at this scene!

I've been in the mood for popcorn lately and this was another mindless, entertaining listen that satisfied the munchies! A quick listen on Hoopla Audio!
Megan and Craig seem to have it all. So why is she complaining all the time? Craig thinks she should just be happy and much more appreciative of the comfy life he has provided her. Something isn't quite right! Things get out of hand and someone has the upper hand.
The narrators were spot on and kept me listening while I tackled a closet de-clutter! Easy to listen to and you don't have to concentrate too much, ha! The author is good at planting seeds of doubt.

Loved the fast paced narration, but the plot was underwhelming. The two main characters were slightly annoying and whined about this and that throughout the novel. I wanted to like Imogen, but she lacked integrity.
The twist was also weak, not sure I'd even call it a twist. It was more of a diversion.
It was fine for a quick popcorn listen, but nothing surprising here!...more

I wanted to listen to this audio every chance that I had some free time. It starts off strong and builds momentum with each chapter.
I enjoyed the wooded, isolated setting in Scotland. It gave the story a very eerie, sinister feel. The beginning is like an opening for a horror movie! The character development was on point and the author gives the backstory that reveals their past, their reasoning, secret crushes and why these friends might not trust each other. Billy was a complete dipsh*t, but still kind of likeable with a devil/angel on his back pulling him in different directions.
The narrator was great with his slight accent, kept the story pitch-perfect! A fast and furious listen!...more

My second by this author and both have been fast-paced/quick reads. A thriller mash-up(part dramatic movie, part 48 Hours), featuring a mother named Grace. She is investigating the murder of her daughter, Abi. I liked her determination and energy, though her drinking became annoying.
She discovers that Abi was on a sugar daddy website called Sweetner.net. She decides she has to meet these men that connected with Abi face to face. She secretly sets up appointments so she can analyze them. Oh my! Grace won't give up until she has the answers she needs.
Grace rides an emotional roller-coaster throughout and hits the booze and painkillers to help her cope (who wouldn't). There are some light, laughout loud moments too. I did guess the villain before the end which took away the shock value, but there were some other gasps along the way.
The narrator had a bit of a frantic tone and some of the women she voiced had such deep voices they sounded like men (which I also laughed at), but overall she was acceptable. I'll read some more from her, she seems like a solid popcorny author!
Recommend if you enjoy these type of quickie killer thriller reads that don't require any deep thinking and keep you on the lookout for all the clues! ...more

The renters from hell have booked Hannah's newly renovated, lovingly decorated, Airbnb. It has always been her dream to run a holiday vacation place of her own. She cringes when Mike and Nadia show up for the stay.
They are loud, rude, untidy and expect to be entirely catered too! Mike especially got on my nerves with his oaf like behavior. Poor Hannah! Her cardiologist hubby, Daniel isn't much help with his snappy attitude. He likes to play the blame game.
Things spiral further when the shenanigans next door get unbearable. Hannah is forced to do some sleuthing of her own. Her detective mode is in high gear! Something is up with these sketchy guests and she needs to uncover their modus operandi.
You go Hannah!
The narration was great! Hannah had me on edge for most of the story. There are some unlikeable characters and tired tropes used, so beware. The twists were pretty predictable for me, But the journey was still a fun and lively ride that I enjoyed!
Recommend for a weekend listen, pair with a bowl of buttered popcorn and beverage of your choice.
