So, honestly, I don't have much to say about this novel. Simply because everything that I would say, I've already said in the previous review. You start this book to read smut and portrayal of the D/S relationship, not the plot. In this case though, I suppose its the Dom/Switch/Sub relationship instead.
Overall, I feel like the previous one was better chemistry wise. There is mental gymnastics required with every polyamorous book trying to figure out how a scene plays out. It was like a good, shut your brain off and enjoy read.
Still gonna continue with the rest of the series for sure!...more
I got this recommendation from a friend who got it from a tiktok. The tiktok was specifically for high spice MM recommendations. I didn't realize going into it that it was a series so I guess I'll be reading these a bit out of order.
So to start off, I will say that the 3/6 spice rating was correct. There was a lot of sex scenes in this book. Like it's not entirely sex and no plot at all but the plot is just an afterthought. Things just work out for the characters. You're here to read the characters get it on. With that being said, there's going to be very little plot discussion in this review.
There's a few triggers in this book including military ment, death ment, grief, alcohol, substance abuse, and the tiniest bit of homophobia.
The chemistry between the characters was pretty good. It starts off a bit enemies to lovers but its a quick switch. I have to say though I was not expecting Tyler to just be ok with bottoming? I thought maybe he would need to be eased into that even if he was okay with everything else. Especially since this was his bi awakening.
The Dom/Sub relationship was really nicely portrayed. I loved that Donovan switched on a dime at the end of a play session to focus on aftercare. I had to look up what a humbler is and wow, that is hilarious looking (I'm sorry). Don't look it up unless you're ready for a face full of asshole.
Overall, I'm definitely gonna look into the other books in the series. There are enough sweet moments for me to really enjoy it but it is mostly spice. I can't see myself ever loving these books, but they're a fun time!...more
