Elliot Becker had one job, to seal the deal and acquire the land needed to open a minor baseball league with his friends on Barefoot Bay. As a billionaire, Elliot always had things easy, as money can buy anything, that is, until he met Francesca "Frankie" Cardinale.
Frankie had one promise to live up to. To honor her grandfather last wish and keep the goat farm they had. That's what she's been doing, living life as a goatherd, making soaps and selling goat milk until Elliot showed up, trying to buy the last thing she has any connections to.
For a novella, this read like a full length novel. There was a lot of depth to the MC, as well as room for growth for each of them. Jocelyn and Will Palmer make appearances in this one and I'm glad we get some update on their lives as well.
Overall, a sweet, romantic and very enjoyable read. And some "aww" moments, including the kids.

What can I say about this one? There's one thing I learned when reading this series. Expect the unexpected.
Considering Zsadist's past and what he went through, I couldn't imagine any of the Brothers going through something just as bad, but Vishous's past revealed a torture and cruelty inflicted upon him by none other than his own father. The identity of his mother was surprising, yet not surprising as it actually made sense.
Vishous (V) has never been close to another person, until he met Butch. Their friendship and closeness is one of a kind. Their love for each other is also what strengthens what their destinies hold. The light and the dark. With Butch mated to Marissa, it was hard for V to watch. Then one night while fighting a lesser who just killed a vampire civilian, V was mortally wounded and rushed to a human hospital where he was operated on by Dr. Jane Whitcomb. Jane discovered an anomaly to V's heart and wants to learn more about him, not knowing what he truly is. What I love about Jane is that she's not wishy-washy... about ANYTHING. What she wants, she'll work for to get it.
V couldn't be exposed to the human world so the Brothers took actions to get him back, and that included a kidnapping of the good doctor. The Brothers had never met the likes of Jane. She stood toe to toe with each one of them and never back down. She is definitely a female who is worthy of a Brother. V fell for her and he fell hard and fast. The scene when she gave him a bed bath... yeah...

Actually, all of the scenes involving them were hot, funny, and some were even beautiful. V was eager to learn more about her and that means giving information and pieces of himself that no one else ever knew of. However, the Scribe Virgin had other plans for V and that did not involve Jane.
There was continual development on John, I cannot wait for his story!! We get a transition to Phury's book as well. I hope he can move on, because honestly, it was depressing to read about him still yearning for something he can't have. There was no insights into the lessers world, and the book focused more on the Brotherhood side, which was fine with me.
The ending certainly threw me for a loop. I truly felt their heartaches, and their joys. I almost felt like V got cheated. As unconventional as that happy ever after is, it still worked for me and may take some getting used to. V is happy, so I'm happy.
Throughout the series, fate and destiny play a big part in what happens to the Brothers and their females. Everything happens for a reason, and I hope that what happened with Jane and Vishous have a bigger role to play. ...more

What I like about this book:
☑ it has heart ☑ it has humour ☑ awesome characters (main and secondary) ☑ larger than life men (really... mmm) and sometimes, kinda scary, but that's good when they're on your side ☑ scrumptiously protective alpha hero ☑ scrumptiously sexy vampires ☑ hero who's possessive of the heroine without it getting annoying ☑ heroine who doesn't back down ☑ swoon-worthy moments ☑ OMG moments (especially with Darius... I literally squealed near the end *no spoilers allowed*)
Basically, I was NEVER bored while reading this. It was action packed right from the beginning. The urban setting and world building behind the vampires versus the lesser society was intriguing. The love scenes were steamy. The dialogue was quick and great.

This book was a delight to read. Not only does Mathewson give us a glimpse into where the characters are now, but we also get a look into how the Bradfords came to be. And you can clearly tell the possessiveness and appetite over their food and women are passed down from generation to generation.
At first I wasn't sure how the historical aspect would work into this series, but it worked well enough for me to enjoy it. There wasn't a lot of historical description of settings but the focus on the characters and the family members more than made up for a great read.
Every 5th anniversary, it's tradition for a Bradford to personally make a necklace out of stones/rocks that represent each important moment in his life when he met his other half. We're introduced to Jason trying to do just that when he's interrupted by Trevor and his own dad, who took it upon himself to tell the story of their legacy.
Elizabeth and Robert grew up as enemies, always one-upping another to inflict embarrassment. Then one day Elizabeth went too far in her taunts and the two drifted apart and never saw each other again.
15 years later, Elizabeth has grown into a young woman, trying to gain her independence from her family. She has set goals for herself, wanting to do the world a better good. She also had no plans to marry as she doesn't believe in a loveless marriage. Her family on the other hand, has plans to see her courted and marry so she can come into her inheritance.
And it was at the seasonal ball that Elizabeth and Robert cross paths again, neither one knowing that the person they just met and connected with was also the same person who made their childhood a living hell.
Once their identities were revealed, neither held back to get the payback that they wanted. What ensued were hysterical hijinks, neither one backing down. Their smoking chemistry didn't dim either and once they accepted that, it was up to them to figure out how to make it work and for their families to accept it as well.
I love Robert and Elizabeth together. They were both strong willed in their own rights and balanced each other out as crazy as they both were at times with their antics.
I marked it down to 4 stars because I thought Mathewson were repetitive in some parts throughout the book.

Mmm this was a fun and sexy read of friends becoming lovers and more.
Eric and Josephine (Joe) has known each other since they were 8 years old. He tried to shove worms down her dress and she retaliated by making him eat them. And a lovely friendship blossomed. The two have been inseparable, doing almost everything together. Each of them don't have a good dating record because whoever they date couldn't handle the close bond they had. And they wouldn't give up their friendship for anyone.
This is a typical R.L. Mathewson book, snarky banter and dialogue between the characters. Hero/heroine fighting their feelings until they can't fight it anymore. I love the humor interjected throughout the book. The epilogue was pretty funny and sweet.
Quick and enjoyable read for anyone who wants something fun and light. ...more

Months after getting her eyesight back through cornea transplants (obtained from a serial killer), Rachel's life hasn't been the same. She's experiencing everything and more to the fullest, everything except the man she really wants, Mason Brown whom she shared an incredible night with. She's finishing up her interview tour when Mason approaches her for help on his current case.
With the gift of eyesight also came the gift to see things that no one else could. Rachel is dreaming of murders where people's organs (also from same serial killer) are being removed, and she feared that they will come for her eyes next. In order to protect her, Mason takes Rachel and his family on a holiday getaway to well... get away from this killer. The trip, however, is not all fun, snow, and hot chocolate. Things are occurring that indicate the killer may have followed them.
This one kept me on the edge, just when I think I could relax for a bit, things are twisted around for a surprise! Totally had no clue! I really enjoyed the dynamics between Rachel and Mason as their characters grow. The banter was clever and funny, I couldn't get enough. Even Rachel's inner voice had its own brand of sass. And of course, the cuteness of Myrtle, she steals every scene as usual. There's not a whole lot of "romance" if that's what you're looking for but Rachel and Mason's relationship is definitely blooming. Can't wait for more of them and their family!...more

There was no frills, no pretense, what you see is what you get. The dynamic relationship between Mia and Jared was off the charts hot. Some sexual tension burning up the pages.
Mia Ryker was a former LCR operative, but she was fired due to her unpredictable actions during ops. Now she runs her own rescue business in Chicago.
Jared Livingston is a shell of his former self. His marriage ended in divorce after his wife learned of his true past (small portion of it anyway). Now working for LCR, he's taking risky chances like Mia once did. He gets a call from his ex-wife to help find her missing daughter. Someone is behind kidnapping of toddlers and babies and selling them. These cases are being connected between Mia's case and LCR and Jared decides to work together with her find the people responsible.
The case was interesting, the bad guy was beyond narcissistic and self-righteous, but what made the book stood out was Mia and Jared. Both characters were complex with a lot of depth. Although Mia is from a wealthy family, she doesn't act entitled. She's strong, feisty, and continually surprises Jared. We learn Jared's history and it's just as bad as any other heroes in the series. There's a well of tenderness underneath the hard man, and the only person that can tap into it is Mia. I really enjoyed both of these characters and the romance development. The suspense was kept at a steady pace until the end, which played out great. The epilogue was one of my favorites in the series, it again showcased Mia's values and Jared's depth of tenderness.

The two butt heads often at times but they each left an impression on one another before they went their separate ways. Jenna hasn't covered any stories since then and feels like she needs to go back to Argentina to prove to herself she hasn't lost her nerve completely. Perhaps she might see the man who occupies most of her thoughts again as well.
Gabe Jones is a man you want on your side in a sticky situation. He protects all he cares for, especially with his Butterfly knife, for which he's known to be as lethal as the blade he carries. Gabe is a tortured hero, he lost the woman he loved and regretted not personally killing the man responsible. On a job to be protective duty for business man Emilio Maxim, Gabe and Jenna paths crossed again in a bombing. Thinking the bomb was intended for Maxim, little did they know that they were in the crosshairs of someone else's twisted rage and revenge.
Although it didn't take long to figure out who was behind it, the enjoyment was in learning who Gabe Jones was, what drove him, what demons he carry and why he fight off his own happiness. Jenna was great in her understanding the thoughts behind Gabe's actions. And the fact that she never gave him an inch made their romance fun to read. Their relationship built up beautifully and the secondary couple relationship was a nice addition too.
