In Terminus, captured survivors would be hit over the head by a butcher using a baseball bat to stun and incapacitate them, before a second butcher would slit their throats with a knife, killing them. During the escape from Terminus, Glenn took one of the bats and used it to put down a walker attacking the Crazed Man and to prevent the man from reanimating.
Glenn later recovered a wooden baseball bat from the wreckage of a house in the Shirewilt Estates and used it against a walker attacking Noah. Glenn subsequently used it in an effort to break the lock on the community's gates and to put down several invading walkers as the group made their escape.
The favored weapon of Negan Smith was a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat that he'd named Lucille in honor of his dead wife. The bat had originally belonged to Laura who had hit Negan over the head with it when they first met and then who provided him with the bat because his only other weapon was an empty gun. After returning home and discovering Lucille dead of a suicide and reanimated, Negan had cut barbed wire from his fence and wrapped it around the bat. As the leader of the Saviors, Negan would use Lucille to kill both living people and walkers, including Glenn and Abraham Ford. After his defeat at the hands of Rick Grimes, Lucille was abandoned by the Militia where it fell at the site of the final battle with the Saviors and became buried over the years.
While hunting walkers near Alexandria, Michonne used a nearby baseball bat, but was reminded of Lucille. She later read a book on baseball to Judith Grimes and was again disturbed by the reminder of Lucille.
After Negan's escape from Alexandria, Brandon, a young former Savior, fashioned Negan a new version of Lucille out of a baseball bat and barbed wire which Negan began wearing across his back on a strap. Negan adopted the bat as his new weapon, killing walkers with it before being captured by the Whisperers. After earning Alpha's trust, Negan was allowed to use his bat while working with the group, at one point using it to put down a mortally wounded Coalition soldier. After being captured by Daryl, Negan had his new bat taken away from him and did not appear to ever attempt to retrieve it. In turn, Daryl appeared to simply abandon the bat rather than take it with them.
After being exiled to Leah's Cabin, Negan returned to the tree where he had fought Rick and dug up Lucille. However, the old bat finally broke when Negan used it to kill a nearby walker. Negan subsequently burned Lucille and destroyed it.
Following the destruction of Lucille, Negan abandoned his use of baseball bats as a weapon, instead coming to favor a long crowbar.
While robbing Cooper's House, Daryl Dixon grabs and uses an aluminum baseball bat in the garage to put down a few walkers before dropping the weapon again.

However, he finds it in New Richmond's armory and dons the bat as a weapon once again, using it against several walkers on his group's way to collect a bulldozer.
