Feat here. Starts at the 10 minute mark.
The screenheight is 630 pixels
The lightning traveled 391 pixels in one frame. The video runs at 25 fps
1 / 25 = 0.04s
391 / 0.04s, so 9,775
Sonic moved 116 pixels in the same timeframe.
116 / 0.04 = 2,900
Speed of lightning = 4.4×10^5 m/s
9,775 = 4.4×10^5
9,775 / 2,900 = 3.3
That means Sonic's speed is 3.3 times slower then the lightning proper.
4.4×10^5 / 3.3 = 133,333.333333 m/s
So Mach 391.8
Alternatively, we could just compare the pixels moved without a timeframe and it still yield pretty much the same results.Making things needlessly more complicated is kind of my thing
Fixed version[]
Assalt noticed a problem with the scaling. Here's a revised version.
So 568 pixels
568 / 116 = 4.89
4.4×10^5 / 4.89 = 89,979.5501022 m/s
Mach 264
