Summary
Son Goku (孫悟空 Son Gokū ) is the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball metaseries.
He is a Saiyan sent to Earth as a baby by his father Bardock to escape the destruction of the planet Vegeta and the Saiyan race. Adopted by Grandpa Gohan, he became a kind-hearted boy after he bumped his head.
Left living alone after his grandfather's death, when Goku bumps into Bulma on her search for the Dragon Balls, he starts on a quest that would take him across the planet and make him perhaps the greatest martial artist his world had ever known.

Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Limited Longevity (Known intergalactically as the "warrior race of the universe", Saiyans have evolved to remain in their physical prime for a long period of time. Their bodies remain child-like for several years before rapidly growing into their adult bodies,[1] and they age slowly after reaching their prime[2] in order to remain young and battle-ready for decades;[3] after reaching a certain age, however, they rapidly grow frail. Additionally, Saiyans have a longer lifespan[4] than humans)
- Enhanced Senses (Vision & Smell; Saiyans have exceptional senses, allowing them to locate small, distant objects[5] by tracking their smell[5] and see clearly over long distances.[6] Learning to evade bees in close proximity[7] is designed to sharpen the eyes[8] and the reflexes,[9] developing one's dynamic vision[10])
- Transformation (Can transform into a Great Ape if he sees a full Moon)
- Berserk Mode
- Large Size (Type 1)
- Master Martial Artist (The fundamentals of the Turtle School are basic, yet rigorous exercises[8] to instill heightened abilities within its students,[11] mastering and shaping the body and the mind[12] through concentration,[5] cardiovascular fitness,[12][7][7] reflex training,[7][9] and repetitive, drill-like disciplines[8] wearing 20kg and 40kg weights,[7][8] daily for eight months[7] from as early as 4:30 AM,[12] strengthening the back and legs,[9][8] the hands and waist,[9] and the entire body[9] beyond the limits of normal humans,[9] thus allowing its students[13] to effortlessly dominate[13] even the finest of martial artists,[14] including the likes of Nam,[15] even without proper combat training[13])
- Weapon Mastery (Of the Power Pole)
- Acrobatics (All-Terrain Mobility, Hypermobility & Self-Momentum; By strengthening the waist and legs[8] jogging,[12] delivering milk to areas only accessible by helicopter,[12][9] including across trees, quicksand, and rivers[12] and away from tyrannosaurus rexes,[8] and engaging in civil engineering,[9][7] whilst wearing 20kg and 40kg weights,[8][8][7][8] students of the Turtle School develop the strength and agility[8] required to leap "higher than the clouds" with minimal effort,[8][9][18] move around opponents with superhuman dexterity,[13][13][14][19] instantly springing into action,[15] easily regain balance and freely manipulate mid-air positioning,[20][18] and maintain altitude mid-combat[21] within the blink of an eye[20])
- Ki Manipulation (Basic Level)
- Damage Boost (The Kamehameha is the Turtle School's greatest technique that condenses[22] the body's inner energy into a single point to amplify the power for "tremendous damage"[23] making it a "super dangerous"[24] technique that can dish out "tremendous power".[25] The power of the technique naturally varies depending on the amount of energy condensed, with experienced users being able to fully control how powerful it is[26], at its strongest, it can scare[27][28][29], severely harm and[30][31][32] even completely annihilate[33][34] opponents who were comparable[35][36], or far superior[37][38][39][40], to the user prior[41][42] or in stronger forms[43][44])
- Limited Breaking the Fourth Wall
- Summoning & Flight (Can call the Flying Nimbus and ride on it)
- Power Mimicry (Can easily replicate other fighting techniques after seeing them once)
- Social Influencing (Stated that even when fighting he has a way of drawing in others[45])
- Accelerated Development (Battle - Physical Stats & Abilities; As a Saiyan, Goku grows stronger every time he fights and can become stronger in the midst of combat, vastly increasing in strength whenever he is mortally injured)
- Blessed (Protection; Bardock wished for his two sons to grow up healthy, causing Goku to obtain a protection until he reached adulthood, making things that could be fatal to him, not kill him)
Resistance to:
- Disease Manipulation (Saiyans are immune[46] to the Extinction Bomb,[1] which releases a planet-wide supervirus aimed at extinguishing the targeted population[47] and has been stated to work on other alien planets in the past[48])
- Cold & Radiation (Should be capable of absorbing over 17 Million Blutz Waves to transform into a Ōzaru without ill effects.[49] Capable of fighting in the upper atmosphere, where temperatures are very cold and radiation levels are exceedingly high[50])
All previous abilities, plus:
- Afterimage Creation (Shown here[53])
- Enhanced Accelerated Development (Battle & Training, Physical Stats & Abilities; As a Saiyan, their innate instincts allow for rapid growth in strength and ability, providing the potential for strength development through training that allows them to adapt and learn new techniques quickly)
- Bodily Weaponry (Conventional; Demonstrates effective use of his tail in combat.[54] He can block and counter attacks, as shown when he attacked Nam with it.[15] During the three-year timeskip, Goku trains his tail to overcome its weakness, enhancing its strength and versatility,[55] allowing him to use it for both combat or hover in the air[56])
All previous abilities, plus:
- Analytical Prediction (Can read opponents movements[58] and when they are holding back[59])
Resistance to:
- Electricity Manipulation (Survived the Pirate Robot's[60] high-voltage electric attack while underwater[61])

All previous abilities plus:
- Ki Sensing (Can locate others by reading their ki[63])
- Supernatural Willpower (Able to endure the Water of the Gods, a potent and deadly poison that requires tremendous stamina, will, and spirit to live[64][63])
All previous abilities, except for Transformation & Bodily Weaponry (During his training, Kami permanently removed Goku's tail), plus:
- Flight
- Pressure Point Strikes (Shown here[65])
- Light Manipulation (Can create flashes of light via Solar flare to blind opponents[66])
- Shockwave Generation (Can create powerful shockwaves via Kiai[67])
- Enhanced Analytical Prediction (Can now read opponent's movements[68] by feeling small currents of air[66])
- Further Enhanced Senses (Touch; After training with Mr. Popo, capable of tracking the movements of others by feeling vibrations in the air[68][66])
- Stealth Mastery & Limited Perception Manipulation (Training under Kami and Mr. Popo, sharpening his spirit in the process,[69] Goku mastered the ability of "[crouching] as quiet as the sky and [striking] quick than lightning",[68] dampening his presence completely[68] including scant air movements[70] and his footsteps[71] and erasing his own Ki;[72] thus, allowing him to optimize his movements and elude the senses of opponents completely)

His skill when it comes to combat and the usage of ki allows him to replicate other ki-based techniques after seeing them once. He is capable of devising new applications of his techniques on the fly, such as using Kamehameha with his feet)
Weaknesses: Initially, Goku can be weakened and put into intense pain if his tail is grabbed or removed, though he gets over this after the Red Ribbon Saga. At first, he cannot fly without the Flying Nimbus, but he learns how to fly before the 23rd Budokai. He needs to see a full moon in order to transform and as a Great Ape, he becomes an animalistic berserker with no control over himself.
Notable Attacks/Techniques: | |
The fighting power and life force of a martial artist, a tangible energy derived from the user's vigor, courage, and mind. It can be used in a number of ways, such as to surpass the limits of one's body to greatly increase in strength, and it can be fired as blasts of energy or used to create defensive barriers. Along with his Saiyan blood, Ki acts as the source of Goku's incredible power and abilities. Goku's prodigal skill in combat and the use of ki allows him to replicate the ki techniques of others after seeing them only once.
Goku is a master martial artist who has learned from many of his universe's greatest teachers, from his adoptive grandfather, Grandpa Gohan, Master Roshi, Korin, and Kami.
The physiology of a Saiyan, an aggressive warrior race of conquerors. Saiyans have the natural ability to control ki and to fly, likely the origin of Goku's own incredible skill when it comes to the usage and control of ki. In addition, while his lifespan is comparable to that of a human, Goku will remain at his peak strength for much longer. One of the most powerful abilities of a Saiyan is their ability to grow stronger and stronger through combat, allowing Goku to constantly push his own limits during a fight and rise to higher and higher peaks in power. This ability grants a substantial boost in power when Goku is badly injured, allowing him to reach a whole new level of power once he recovers.
