“ | Did it amuse you, to deny me what's rightfully mine? With my power restored, I am like unto a GOD! I could suck the marrow from your bones before you drew another breath. I could... but I too have a code by which I do business. Besides, say what you will about Balance and your ridiculous Law. I recognize a quest for revenge when I see one. And revenge, I respect! | „ |
~ Samael to War[1] |
Summary
Samael is a central character featured in Darksiders and Darksiders: Genesis. A demon of immense power, Samael once possessed enough power to rival that of the Dark Prince's and had such authority to match.[2][1] He was exiled to the shattered Earth for defying the Destroyer and was confined to the Scalding Gallows prison.[1] In addition, he was stripped of most of his power, which was subsequently split among the Destroyer's Chosen. He later regained his lost power with the help of War, and escaped his prison as a result.[1] Samael helped both War[1] and Death[3] in their journeys, but only to further his own agenda. His true plans remain a mystery, and his current whereabouts are unknown. [1]

- Self-Sustenance (Type 2; Demons can live without issue in areas where the only air is ashes and death[4])

- Time Manipulation (As he granted this ability to War,[1] he should be capable of hit himself[1])
- Temperature Manipulation (Samael is capable of casually picking up and holding a small sun in his hands,[2] and a dead world with no warmth was no bother for Demons for hours upon hours[4])
Attack Potency: At least Multi-City Block level+,[Note 1] possibly Planet level[Note 2] (Even when weakened, he believed himself capable of taking on all four Horsemen,[1] although considering his performances against Death[5] and a vastly empowered Maloch,[2] this may be overconfidence. Superior to most other demons to the point they require massive amps to even attempt to stand up to him[2] and more powerful than all the Chosen combined as they use his power.[1] Fought Death who destroyed the Guardian who did this,[3] and decapitated a Leviathan,[6] which has this much GPE[3])
Speed: Hypersonic (Comparable to Death, whom is comparable to Fury,[3] who can react to and dodge Pride's lasers.[7]
Lifting Strength: At least Class M, likely higher (Stronger than all four horsemen, as he stopped a swing from Death with a single finger[5])
Striking Strength: At least Multi-City Block level+, possibly Planet level
Durability: At least Multi-City Block level+, possibly Planet level
Stamina: Superhuman (Wasn't tired nor wounded after fighting a vastly empowered Maloch for hours[2])
Range: Several Meters due to sheer size,[1][5][2] Tens of Meters with ranged attacks[5][2]
Standard Equipment: A massive Greatsword[2]
Gifted (Samael is a master manipulator,[1][2] having decieved both War and Strife.[2] However, his knowledge of the cosmos and perception should not be understated, immediately recognizing that Death had time traveled to fight him,[5] and that Lucifer was decieving him.[2] Samael is also multi-lingual like War[1])
Standard Tactics: Samael is a power fighter who mixes in usage of both physical attacks and magic to slaughter his opponents,[2][5] preferring to open his fights with teleportation behind the opponment into retraining with Telekinesis, and getting away with this as he is able.[5] Upon this failing even once, Samael has no problem with engaging in brutal melee, using either his bare hands or a sword[2] to attempt to execute the opponent with flame and electricity, always being tricky with teleportation.[5]
Weaknesses: Petty insults and empty threats can get the better of him sometimes, making him furious, though he does a good job at containing his rage.[1][2]
