Summary
Bishamon is a playable character in the Darkstalkers series and covers the role of the accursed samurai.
He was just a normal man, until the day he found an armor and a sword while visiting an antique shop. Bishamon aggressively forced the shop owner to give the items to him and returned home, losing memory of what he had done. He spent the following days staring obsessively the two objects, ignoring his wife's worries, and two weeks later he finally donned the armor. In that moment, he realized the error he made while his mind was getting full of hatred and evil, and he barely managed to tell his wife to run away. Possessed by the cursed armor Hannya and the sword Kien, Bishamon went through countless days of killing, to consume the souls and blood of humans and Darkstalkers. He eventually found Pyron and engaged him in combat, losing badly and ending separated by the items due to the alien's energies. Caught by the horror of his actions, Bishamon was reached by his wife Orin. Swearing to fight the forces of darkness wherever they were and make up for his sins, he and Orin became monks. Through the practice of Roppoudou, Bishamon cleansed his mind and heart.
Years later, after finding writings about Makai in an old temple, Bishamon secluded himself in a snowy mountain and meditated until he reached his peak spiritual strength. Bishamon was decided to end the threat of Hannya and Kien and prevent others to commit his same errors. He then departed to Majigen, reaching the monsters who had started moving again, and sealed their will with his newly acquired powers. After these events, Bishamon had disappeared and is thought to have led a peaceful life.
Hannya was once a Makai beast who has been turned into an armor through unknwon methods and for unknown reasons. Roughly 600 years ago, it came to the human world and started possessing humans to sate its hunger for souls. Among its hosts, there was also Oda Nobunaga.
Kien is a sword that was forget in the 1580's and had the name "Onikiri". Swords normally dull overtime due to the fat and blood contained in the human body, but Kien's edge was made in a way that allowed it to absorb the blood from the victims and become sharper. People started fearing the sword, which ended up in Makai, where it developed self-awareness due to being influenced by the aura of that world, and took its current name.
Both items have been owned by the demon Taurus Drey, and reached the human world together at some point. After the end of the age of war, they started traveling together by using antique shops to find new hosts, with Bishamon being the last one. After possessing him, they went through a series of murders, consuming blood and souls of humans and monsters alike until the curse was broken during the fight with Pyron.
Oboro Bishamon is an hypotetical version of Bishamon that managed to use Hannya and Kien's power without being possessed by them.

Intelligence: Above Average (Despite being constantly blinded by hatred and bloodstud, Bishamon [Hannya and Kien, more precisely] is a skilled and deadly warrior, who slain many Darkstalkers and robbed them of their souls during the tournament held by Pyron, and briefly engaged in combat with the latter. Despite being two different entities, the armor and the sword can precisely coordinate each other in combat and make use of their unique powers in different ways. Hannya is centuries old and has spent many years on the battlefield during the age of war in Japan while donned by several hosts, including Oda Nobunaga. Kien has a similar age and has been wielded by various warriors, often together with Hannya. Human Bishamon traveled Japan as a monk, cleansing his mind and spirit through the practice of Roppoudou and unlocked the eyes of the heart by meditating, obtaining the power necessary to defeat the accursed items. Oboro Bishamon has the knowledge and skill of the human and the monster combined)
Weaknesses: Sunlight is troublesome for him (Only for normal and possibly Oboro Bishamon), a strong mind/spirit can resist the madness-inducing effect of his aura and a dark heart can resist the corruption. Oboro Bishamon can't or doesn't want to possess others by using his will-o'-wisps or other ghosts, but has still shown the ability to make them appear.

Notable Attack/Techniques:
- Hane Na/Karame Dama: Bishamon throws Kien at the opponent, stabbing them in the chest and causing stun. Alternatively, Bishamon can send one of his will-o'-wisps to possess the opponent and achieve the same effect. If the souls of Hannya and Kien are used, they will take the appearance of Bishamon's wife, Orin, and restrain the enemy. Bishamon can fire his will-o'-wisps even upwards or while in mid air.
- Tsuji Hayate: After landing Hane Na/Karame Dama, Bishamon seizes the opportunity and dashes back and forth, slashing the stunned opponents in the waist two times. By using more energy, Bishamon can force the opponent to commit seppuku, either by using Kien or other weapons the opponent holds. The method used changes depending on the opponent and includes stabbing, disembowelment and decapitation.
- Kaeshi Ha/Tama Yose: After landing Hane Na/Karame Dama, Bishamon seizes the opportunity and pulls the stunned opponent towards himself. This move allows Bishamon to hit the pulled opponents with any attack he likes.
- Kien Zan: After performing Kaeshi Ha/Tama Yose, Bishamon hits the pulled opponent with a slashing uppercut.
- Iaigiri: Bishamon seemingly covers Kien with energy and delivers a fast frontal slash, which deals more damage than normal and reaches farther. Bishamon can perform this attack even when crouching.
- Kirisute Gomen: Bishamon grabs the opponent and performs a point-blank Kien Zan.
- Togakubi Sarashi: Bishamon grabs the opponent and tosses them over his shoulder. Bishamon then quickly pursuits them as they land, cutting them in half before they can get up.
- Oni Kubi Hineri: Hannya opens his mouth, releases a huge hand made of soul energy and sends it forward. The grasped opponent will be squeezed multiple times, while a demonic face is projected over them.
- Enma Ishi: Bishamon creates a wooden mat and sends it sliding on the ground. If the mat hits the opponent, they will fall over or it and crushed by three stone blocks falling over them. Some opponents are teleported on the mat and binded with ropes, with the blocks falling on their legs.
- Tsurane Giri: Bishamon turns into five samurai ghosts, who will slash the opponent one time each.
- Kyouka Yoroi: Kogane Katabira: Bishamon channels his energy and enhances his defense, gaining a "super armor". While in this state, Bishamon is impervious to and goes through single attacks.
