Summary

Big the Cat (ビッグ・ザ・キャット Biggu za Kyatto) is a large purple cat who lives in Mystic Ruins and spends most of his time fishing with his pet frog/best friend, Froggy. This is what caused him to meet the likes of Sonic, Tails and the rest of the cast.[2]

He often has a tendency to appear in places at random regardless of how minuscule the possibility, be it within the Arabian Nights[3] to within Cyper Space[4] or White Space[5]. While often perceived as dull, he has a heart equal to his size with great power to match.

Powers and Stats

Tier: High 4-C, 4-B with 3 Power Cores | 2-C

Key: Adventure Era | Modern Era

Name: Big the Cat

Origin: Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic Adventure)

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Classification: Anthropomorphic cat, fisherman

Powers and Abilities:

  • Forcefield Creation (Via Shields) & Damage Reduction (Shields & Invincibility. All Shields are omni-directional, defensive tools meant to negate an instance of damage against its wielder. Invincibility is stated multiple times in the franchise to be a power that grants the user to receive no damage for a limited time)
  • Statistics Amplification (Temporary; High-Speed Shoes greatly increase the user's speed. Invincibility greatly enhances the user's durability)
  • Big doesn't have a specific Extreme Gear. For a more in-depth look at the mechanics behind Extreme Gear, as well as each specific board and the nature of the subclasses and powers provided, consult this page.

Attack Potency: Large Star level (Physically the strongest member of Adventure Team Rose, making him stronger than Adventure Amy and Adventure Cream. Capable of harming members of Adventure Team Sonic[24]) Solar System level with 3 Power Cores (each Power Cores doubles the user's physical characteristics) | Low Multiverse level (Possibly 2 universes. Survived in the Arabian Nights while Erazor Djinn was attacking it during Sonic and the Secret Rings. Eventually 12 universes. Could harm and overwhelm ordinary Zombots, who are highly durable to even the other heroes. Often considered to have tremendous power),

Speed: Massively FTL (Can keep up with Chaos 6) to Massively FTL+ (Can keep up with the rest of Team Rose), higher with 3 Power Cores (Each Power Core doubles the physcial characteristics of the wielder, and Big can hold up to 3) | Infinite (Can race against Metal Sonic/Metal Sonic 3.0[25] and Jet on his Type-J Extreme Gear[26])

Lifting Strength: Class M (Able to lift giant boulders and cars with ease. Physically stronger than Adventure Vector) | Class M, likely at least Multi-Stellar

Striking Strength: Large Star level, Solar System level with 3 Power Cores (Can harm the individual members of Team Sonic with his strikes[24]) | Low Multiverse level

Durability: Large Star Level, Solar System level with 3 Power Cores (Can withstand attacks from the likes of Adventure Sonic and Adventure Knuckles[24]) Up to Complex Multiverse level (6-D) Damage Transferal with Rings (Having enough Rings shields damage from those as strong as Void and Tethered Supreme[17]) | Low Multiverse level (Can race against numerous members of Modern Team Sonic and Modern Team Dark and survive Color Powers being used against him[27]), Up to Complex Multiverse level (6-D) Damage Transferal with Rings

Stamina: Superhuman (Journeyed alongside Adventure Amy and Adventure Cream for three days with minimal rest, fighting Dr. Eggman Badnik forces all the while[24]) | Superhuman

Range: Standard Melee Range; Tens of Meters with his Fishing Rod

Standard Equipment: Fishing Rod/Umbrella, Wisps, Froggy (Pet frog)

    • Optional Equipment: Rings (maximum of 999), Item Boxes, Power Cores (maximum of 3) Power Rod, Life Belt, 4 Lures, Eggwalker, Frog Cruiser | Vehicles (Extreme Gear, Tornado, Dark Rider, etc.), Infinite Magnet, Red Star Rings, Pets/Friends/Fast Friends (Chao, Animals, Koco, certain Wisps, Black Doom's Eye, etc.), Trails

Intelligence: Below Average generally, Gifted in Combat and with Machinery (Although he is generally simple-minded and unintelligent, he is a very experienced fisherman, is capable with technology, being able to pilot Tails' Tornado 2 plane when seeing it for the first time, pilot the Eggwalker and he is good at piloting his personal vehicle Frog Cruiser on par with other racers like Sonic or Shadow, and is also an extremely skilled swimmer and climber. He is also a very capable combatant as he fought Metal Madness alongside the rest of Team Rose.)

Weaknesses: Rather unintelligent outside of combat, tech and fishing

    Notable Attacks/Techniques:

    • Body Slam: Big uses his large belly to crush his opponent beneath him.
    • Lure Attack: Big attacks the target with his Fishing Rod.
    • Big Fishing: Big swings a weaponized fishing reel around himself in a circular motion.
    • Spin Attack: Big inflicts damage by curling into a ball-like position, destroying objects
      • Spin Dash: Big curls into himself and begins to charge up, then launches forward at high speeds. This can be used for both higher maneuverability on the battlefield, and for overwhelming offense.
        • Homing Attack: While in the air, Big performs a high-speed Spin Dash towards the nearest enemy.
    • Boost: Big instantly propels himself forward at top speed and becomes surrounded by an energy forcefield allowing him to barrel through enemies without fear of reprisal.
      • Air Boost: An airborne variation of the Boost, increasing Big's speed in the air as well as his upwards momentum.

  • Cyan Laser: Using the power of a Cyan Wisp, Big transforms into a cyan laser beam. As the Cyan Laser, Big gains the same properties as that of a real laser, allowing him to move as a living beam of light. When hitting any surfaces as the Cyan Laser, Big can also bounce off them as if they were reflective surface.
  • Indigo Asteroid: Using the power of an Indigo Wisp, Big turns into an orb-shaped body with striped, indigo skin and a matching planetary ring encircling his middle. As the Indigo Asteroid, Big essentially becomes a miniature planet with a strong gravitational field. Big is as such capable of creating a powerful gravitational pull around himself, strong enough to tear all kinds of objects to pieces and pull them into the Asteroid Ring. Additionally, the gathered matter can be used to empower the gravitational pull. The Indigo Asteroid also grants Big the ability to levitate through midair.
  • Yellow Drill: Using the power of a Yellow Wisp, Big turns into a yellow spiral drill. As the Yellow Drill, Big can burrow and tunnel underground at remarkable high speeds and can be applied underwater, allowing Big to move through water like a living torpedo.

  • Pets: Also referred to as Friends, these creatures will hover closely behind their wielder that typically focus on granting benefits on several stats;

    • Experience (The amount of experience gained when defeating an opponent)
    • Rings (the amount of Rings gained per a single Ring)
    • Damage (the amount of damage dealt to bosses and powerful enemies).
    • Stamina (The amount of energy consumed when Boosting)
    • Air (The amount of time possible to spend underwater without air)
    • Luck (Non-Combat Applicable).

Up to 3-5 Pets can be equipped at a single time, stacking the benefits from each.

For a full reference of different Pets and their impact, see here.

    Trails: Trails are equippable items that range from Level 1 to Level 25 at maximum. They typically focus on increasing three statistics, but different Trails offer benefits that include other statistics. Like Pets, these include altering;

    • Experience
    • Rings
    • Damage
    • Stamina
    • Air

Unlike Pets, only one trail can be equipped at any given time.

For a full reference of Trails and their impact, see here.

    Notes/Explanations

    Note
    1. Rebirths are canonical, as Dr. Eggman accidentally rebirthed the entire timeline by using Rebirth Energy.
    2. Despite gameplay containing a certain character, this is universally true of all playable characters in Sonic Speed Simulator.
    3. The Possibly rating indicates the possibility of the Wisp bestowing their abilities upon the user, and not the abilities themselves being categorized as a possibility. As such, this extends to all Wisp pets from Sonic Speed Sim.
