~ Tsar Positron talking to Master Slavic about remaining in villainy. |
Sergei Romanov, formerly known as Captain Electron and now known as Tsar Positron is the overarching antagonist in the Incredibles franchise.
He was the youngest super to get powers nongenetically, having gotten them at age 10 from the first Soviet nuclear bomb's fallout from the wind. The public turned sour against supers then, so Sergei, now Captain Electron, went into hiding or the Soviet government would kill him. However, Captain Electron reemerged, calling himself Tsar Positron. Since even after supers were reinstated, he's committed the worst atrocities, and became the archnemesis of the Parr Family, particularly Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack.
Tsar Positron was voiced by Tom Hardy in his first animated movie role, who also voices Venom in the Sony Marvel Universe.
Appearance[]
Before he became Captain Electron, Sergei Romanov appeared as an average 10-year-old boy in the Soviet Union, appearing with blue eyes, short brown hair, and wears rags and sandals.
After exposure to radiation of the Joe-1, Sergei gets a new yellow suit with black gloves, black boots, a silver face mask and helmet, and a symbol of radiation with the center replaced with a red atom symbol. His eyes also turned green, and his hair turned grey. As he grew older, the suit continued to grow with him, and he grew a short brown beard.
After exposing himself to the Tsar Bomba's fallout, his left eye turned pupilless and it glowed green. His skin also peeled off, revealing red underneath, including his eyelids. He grew large muscles, but don't match Mr. Incredible. His entire suit material gets replaced with a rough black metal armor, and his helmet grew horns. His red symbol is kept, and the cracks in the new armor glow yellow except his boots and now-gauntlets.
When he inserted anti-matter into his body, his armor, left eye, and symbol now glow bright blue.
Personality[]
As Captain Electron, he used to be humble, polite, and overall helpful to the people. However, when supers were banned by the government, he tried to remain his original personality. However, as years passed, he lost all hope of supers and went mad. He was now misanthropic, arrogant, warmongering, and furious. When he turned into a villain, he never announced it to anyone because what he would do would be bad. As Tsar Positron, he takes great pleasure in radiating people, he is prideful, wrathful, angry, and has too much passion doing criminal's work for himself. When supers were reinstated in Incredibles 2, Tsar Positron chose to remain evil as he now saw the people as influential to the government and became obsessed with creating a world full of only "superhumans" as he liked to call them. His anarchist tendencies were first realized when he poisoned Joseph Stalin with his radiation, making the latter suffer a stroke.
When he made connections with the two other villains, Syndrome and Screenslaver, he was at first helpful to them, but he made his intentions clear when he mentioned they would be punished for their failure. This shows that not only he would betray the supers, he also does not get along with other villains as when Screenslaver was arrested, Tsar Positron tracked her down and melted her skin, revealing her skull. Tsar Positron also smiled when he destroys both Nomanisan Island and Devtech headquarters, seeing how they both resembled Syndrome and Screenslaver respectively, and they both failed their goals.
Tsar Positron was also the one not to keep promises to people. As such, even after establishing a summit between Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl with Master Slavic, although he did get supers to follow him, he became a massive hypocrite. When he killed Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, he must have realized the USA and USSR were completely different countries and by killing the two, he broke it, but was proud of it. He also promised to help his followers in the Soviet Union if they were in trouble, but even when he was obviously not needed when battling the Incredibles kids and their mentors, he did not go to the Soviet Union to help his followers there.
When 1984 rolled around, he was proud by how large his collection of skulls and urns was growing, and he turned megalomaniac, seeking immortality and causing chaos around the world. He also didn't care when he threatened relations between the United States and the Soviet Union, as it would mean total destruction. He also grew evermore wrathful, knowing that there were surviving heroes that still supported the government. When he presented the supers dark history to Frozone, he presented it to bring fear and threats to Frozone's mind, but it didn't work.
When he gained antimatter, his pride grew, bragging to his followers that he had obtained an "ultimate weapon" capable of ending the supers. It became clear as when he arrived in New Urbem, he erased all of his men from the city with his new power. Even after his defeat, he still hung onto the belief that supers were a superior race to humans and had successfully provoked Jack-Jack into killing him, proving that supers could still do bad things.
Powers & Abilities[]
Over the course of the film, Tsar Positron had gained his powers and abilities from different explosive elements from the nuclear Joe-1 to simple antimatter.
Normal skills and abilities[]
- High Intelligence: Tsar Positron uses his knowledge to seek the enemy and strategize plans with his men. He also uses it to look everywhere in a battlefield.
- Martial Arts Mastery: Taught by Master Slavic at a young age, Tsar Positron can engage in various martial arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kung Fu, and Karate.
- Motorcycle Driving: Tsar Positron would drive his motorcycle recklessly around cities, endangering others in the process.
Powers from the Joe-1[]
- Radiation Manipulation: The most frequently used power. Tsar Positron can use this power to create radiation anywhere, from using clouds to his energy blasts, which the latter is often used. He can also create constructs, like the wall to block robbers.
- Flight: Tsar Positron can fly anywhere, but speed is limited.
- Power Absorption: Most feared for this ability. Tsar Positron could absorb any supers' powers if an object connected to him is in said super. However, it only works if said super is dead.
- Fear Inducement: Often uses during battle, he can bring fear into other supers either based on his appearance after the Tsar Bomba, or by showing how powerful he can be by bringing his opponents into near-death situations. He was able to use his feared radioactive ability and wrathful personality to force the equally wrathful Syndrome and determined Master Slavic into his submission.
- Immunity to Quantum Mechanics: Because his radiation manipulated his quantum structure, Tsar Positron was immune to Syndrome's utility gauntlets, which had zero-point energy.
Powers from the Tsar Bomba[]
- Exoskeletal Armor: Bulging from his suit after the Tsar Bomba's explosion, Tsar Positron's new armor would be a durable asset because of how tough the material is coming from the fallout.
- Superhuman Body: His body had also changed drastically through the fallout. He was faster (but cannot outrun Dash), had better perception, stronger (doesn't match Mr. Incredible's strength), more agile, and endurable (despite having armor).
- Nuclear Eye: When his left eye turned pupilless and green, he could shoot a large beam from that eye. However, he could also project hallucinations, like he projected a dark history of supers for Frozone.
- Monster Creation: Tsar Positron could create monsters by turning people into said monsters.
Powers from Antimatter[]
- Antimatter Manipulation: Tsar Positron could now use antimatter as a weapon, to create constructs, and empower his attacks. He uses it the most during the final battle.
- Antimatter Eye: A more powerful version of his nuclear eye. Now, his beam can track his target nonstop, but can be dodged under right circumstances.
- High Invulnerability: Tsar Positron could handle a kick or punch from anything and could crash into buildings while he was in control. He was invulnerable to bullets and explosives too.
Absorbed powers[]
- Supernatural Strength: Absorbed from Mr. Incredible, later enhanced when absorbed from Brick.
- Elasticity: Absorbed from Elastigirl, but rarely used as it hurts when stretching.
- Screech: Absorbed from Screech, used to paralyze or confuse enemies.
- Lava Regurgitation: Absorbed from Reflux, but never uses it.
- Electrokinesis: Absorbed from He-Lectrix, useful for the same as the absorbed screech ability.
- Telekinetic Crush: Absorbed from Krushauer, though more useful on objects than biological things.
- Infrared Vision: Absorbed from St. Heat, useful for looking through walls.
- Heat Vision: Absorbed from St. Heat, but would enhance Tsar Positron's nuclear eye.
- Storm Control: Absorbed from Siber, used for suppression.
- Multi-Power Usage: Absorbed from Multigrad, useful in final fight.
- Hundreds more

Disney Heroes: Battle Mode[]
Tsar Positron appears in the game as an unlockable and playable character in the Incredibles category. Tsar Positron can damage his enemies and defend his allies with his radiation powers while temporarily entering antimatter mode as his special ability. He also has his own mode, "Tsar Positron Mode." said to be the most challenging mode, with twenty levels which increases by five for every higher difficulty. The enemies are replaced by Tsar Positron's Tsar Occult members which are replaced by anti-matter duplicates the further the levels.
Team Teen[]
This version of Tsar Positron was mentioned when the titular five team members were talking with Wade and the Incredibles kids about another version of Tsar Positron, Tsar Anti-Reaper. Tsar Positron's helmet was later seen when Tsar Anti-Reaper tried reviving his original counterpart. However, the latter was stopped by Ben 10 and the Incredibles kids. His body is possessed by his alternative counterpart and became the main antagonist of the Team Teen: Anti-Retribution short film.

Trivia[]
- Tsar Positron is one of the most dangerous Pixar villains due to his cunning and misanthropic nature, his success in his plans, and his powers.
- Tsar Positron is the symbolic dark reflection of Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack, representing what the Incredibles kids would end up being had they not resisted the temptation for revenge after Tsar Positron kills their parents.
- Tsar Positron has the highest body count out of all Pixar villains, surpassing Mor'du from Brave.
- As he destroyed the base of the peace statue in Metroville, he destroyed each figure one by one in numerical order that went like this:
- Mr. Incredible
- Elastigirl
- Master Slavic
- Captain Electron
- When Tsar Positron's helmet inside the tree turned on at the end of the movie, it was no cliffhanger, as it meant the end of a franchise.
- Speaking of the tree, several brief appearances of characters from other Pixar movies showed up, including Emily (Toy Story 2), Carl and Ellie (Up), and Riley (Inside Out).
- Tsar Positron is often compared to The Batman Who Laughs from DC Comics, as both were heroes, but something made them villains. When this something was resolved, they continued being villains no matter what. Tsar Positron's case is the supers being made illegal.
- His name change (without the titles) from Electron to Positron is quite a symbolic one. Before the universe formed, matter collided with antimatter until there was little to none of the latter left.
- Unlike the main antagonists of the previous two films, Syndrome and Screenslaver (Evelyn Deavor), Tsar Positron had a tragic background involving his hatred toward the governments banning superheroes. He possesses radiation powers and has greater intelligence than the both of them. Instead of goals revolving revenge on supers, Tsar Positron wanted to destroy the world for controlling supers, despite other supers' opposition to his goals. He would die exactly how his goal would be.
- Speaking of the two, Tsar Positron is considered the eviler and more successful version of his predecessors. Syndrome and Screenslaver have tried to kill their respective archenemies, Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible and Helen Parr/Elastigirl respectively. Tsar Positron has succeeded in these goals where they failed, even absorbing their powers as trophies.
- As Captain Electron, he refers to supers as "supers." When he was Tsar Positron, he refers to them as "superhumans."
- Tsar Positron's left pupilless eye can be compared to an in-universe villain, Dr. Calico from Bolt.
- When he was Captain Electron, Tsar Positron controlled the radiation in his powers as his radiation would emit the same number of roentgens released from the Fukushima Daiichi explosion.
- However, the Fukushima Daiichi exploded in 2011, and the power plant had completed construction in 1976.
- Tsar Positron is the first Pixar character to speak Russian.
- He is the most recent primary Disney villain, being the first Pixar villain and first fallen hero to do so.
- The antimatter eye's tracking nonstop ability resembles Darkseid's Omega Beams from DC Comics.
