~ Director Fisher accurately describing Herobrine's pattern of behavior to Shea. |
“ | I know what happened to you. I saw it! You didn't deserve that, you trusted him. After all, you were of the same blood. I finally understand why though. I finally understand why he lied about you all along, claiming that you didn't exist, claiming that you were gone, claiming that he never knew you. I'm sorry, Herobrine. It was a terrible thing, a terrible thing that your brother did! He wanted to be the only god. He couldn't stand the thought of you being in his way, so he got rid of you, banished you to a place where no one would find you. Since he won't say it for himself, I'm here to say it for him: I'm sorry. For everything you've been though, for everything Notch did to you, I'm sorry. But it's time to go home, Herobrine. It's time we put all of this to a stop. | „ |
~ Malcolm apologizing for Herobrine's past before he walks into the End Portal. |
Herobrine is the titular main antagonist of Machinima and NewScapePro's movie trilogy of the same name.
He is an extremely dangerous and hostile spirit, the ruler of the Nether and the most infamous urban legend in Minecraft. Known to haunt various mineshafts, Herobrine stalks his victims for a prolonged period of time and ensnares them in traps to claim their lives. He is very feared upon by Minecraft's population, with many daring to not even speak his name due to his legendary status. He is also the brother of Notch, the father of George and Alan Smith, and the arch-nemesis of both the former and Malcolm Rousseau.
History[]
Past[]
At the beginning of time, Herobrine existed alongside his brother, Notch, the creator of Minecraft. As Notch constructed the world as its god, Herobrine would build and explore the world alongside his brother, creating their first house together and living a peaceful life. At some point, Herobrine fathered two children, George and Alan. Unbeknownst to Herobrine, Notch grew jealous of his brother's presence and desired to be the sole deity of the universe, and began to devise a plan to get his brother out of the picture.
One fateful day, Herobrine decided to go mining within a small cave. Venturing deeper into the cavern and passing several valuable minerals, Herobrine approached a dead end containing diamonds. Before Herobrine could mine them, he heard fast-approaching footsteps and turned around only to be met with Notch running up towards him with a diamond sword, killing him on the spot and ridding himself of the only potential threat to his control over the world. To ensure that Herobrine remained completely out of the picture, Notch banished his now ghostly brother to another dimension known as the Nether where no one would find him, and subsequent questions about Herobrine's existence would lead to Notch claiming Herobrine never existed, that Notch never knew him or that Herobrine was gone. Feeling regret for his actions, Notch set up a grave for his brother near their house.
In the many years Herobrine spent in the Nether, his resentment towards Notch grew into an uncontrollable hatred and rage, beginning to go insane from the decades of isolation until he began to physically and mentally transform into a being of pure hate, developing a new, vengeful desire to kill the very humans Notch created as an outlet for his newfound anger and homicidal urges, as well as possible vengeance for no one coming to find him, feeling abandoned, alone and betrayed. Eventually, Herobrine's power and influence grew to the point where he asserted full control over the Nether and its inhabitants, and began to amass an army he would one day take to the Overworld to conquer.
Many, many years after Herobrine's death, one of his now-adult sons, Alan, would search for a shrine to bring his father back to life and managed to summon Herobrine into the world again. From then on, the two would conspire and work together to bring Herobrine more victims, with Herobrine taking an interest in haunting various caves and mineshafts across the world. At some point, Herobrine would construct a Nether Portal near the continent of Hannenburg, turning the residents sick and some of them insane.
Herobrine[]
Herobrine encounters a group of miners that venture down into the mines looking to dig up stacks of obsidian. The group first encounter a town that appears to be under some kind of curse, as all the people seem unwell and when Peter goes to ask a lady about their odd behavior, she only warns the group about a person only known as "Him". George immediately deducts that this "Him" character is Herobrine, but the group ignore his warnings and head deep into the cave. Herobrine then mimics Lucy's voice in order to trick Timothy, who is unfortunately brainwashed by the creature, George and the group find him bloodied and white-eyed before falling to his death as the mines start to collapse, blocking the exit.
Meanwhile, Bartley wonders off into a massive area with a small pyramid made out of ores, on a glowstone block at the top a sign reads "notch is dead". Bartley then looks behind him to find the ground disappearing and hallucinating his father, who tells him how disappointed he is in his son before he is burned alive by falling lava. Peter then instructs his fellow miners to stand up to the entity, he then mistakenly says Herobrine's name three times, causing the lights to go out and the room changing to netherrack, while Peter's men are turned into zombie pigmen and kill him off-screen.
On the other hand, George and Lucy start bickering about getting out of the mines before Lucy spots some obsidian and goes to mine it. A few pistons push glass in front of her and trap her, George then spots Herobrine behind her and leaves him to kill her. George then finds Herobrine standing in front of a Nether portal. George then tells Herobrine that he can't bring himself to kill his son, while George claims that he is the one to kill him before pushing his father into the Nether portal and escaping. George makes it out alive, but is unfortunately possessed by Herobrine, who escapes to parts unknown.
Herobrine II[]
Herobrine's second son Alan is approached by Jacob Bartley, who informs him about his brother's demise at the hands of his father. Alan is then assigned to a group into snapping George out of Herobrine's control and getting to his father. Alan meets Malcolm, who has had a previous run-in with Herobrine, and ended up with him slaughtering his brother. The group then fall deep into the cave and Lincoln tries to escape, only to be trapped inside a small room with pictures of Herobrine's eyes in the darkness before he is confronted by an enderman, who then kills him.
The group then find a swarm of silverfish and jump down a ladder, finding George in a room surrounded by fire, lava and netherrack. Alan attempts to reach out to his brother, but his efforts prove to be futile as Herobrine bursts out of Georges body and launches a fireball at Jacob, knocking him into the lava and killing him. Alan and Malcolm then decide to use a room full of TNT to blow the place up, and succeed in doing so, but are being watched by Herobrine, who gives Malcolm flashbacks to the time where his father was killed by an enderman for looking at it.
Malcolm, Alan and Herobrine look up to see and enderman peering down at them before charging down and confronting the ghostly figure. As Herobrine backs away from the enderman and avoids his attacks, the cave starts to collapse and the enderman is killed by Malcolm, who leaves Herobrine with a cold "You're welcome" before Herobrine is closed inside. The two escape, but Alan goes a different way and comes across his father. Alan then remembers years prior to where he summoned his father into the world. He then promptly walks away with Herobrine, revealing to be working with him the whole time.
Herobrine III[]
In the beginning of Herobrine 3, Malcolm is recounting the moments from the end of the previous film where he was lost and was also betrayed by Alan. The scene then cuts to a few troopers having to deal with an army of pigmen and ghasts sent in by Herobrine, two of the archers, Calvin and Lisa, decided to head out and visit Doctor Shea, who promptly helped the two escape. Malcolm is able to free an island of people from a curse placed on them by Herobrine opening a Nether portal, who then band together to go after the ghost, as Shea, Calvin and Lisa manage to form a plan set on trapping Herobrine in the End.
After Malcolm's boat crashed and was set ablaze, one of the residents, Richard, came across Alan, now fully embracing his insanity and given Herobrine's strength. The two fought before Richard seemingly defeated Alan and blew up the ship to ensure he was gone for good. Shea's group then find an injured Malcolm, who confesses his plan to kill Herobrine before joining the three in their plan. The group then venture into a cave, and Calvin is trapped and killed by Herobrine after taunting him with music. The remaining trio come across Alan, who is killed by Malcolm with an eye of ender, and venture deeper until they find a Stronghold.
Malcolm is confronted by Herobrine, who shows him what made him the monster he is today, while Lisa sets off to lure Herobrine as Shea waits at the portal. Herobrine finds Shea, and prepares to kill him after Shea dares him to and unexpectedly hovers over the portal. Malcolm and Lisa then arrive, as Malcolm explains why Herobrine's life has been shrouded in mystery and why Notch claimed that he wasn't real. Malcolm then unexpectedly apologizes to Herobrine for Notch's actions, claiming he didn't deserve it and that it was time for Herobrine to put an end to his actions. Herobrine understood what he had done, and willingly allowed himself to walk into the End portal, sealing him away presumably for good. It is unknown if Herobrine made a home out of the End or finally moved on to the afterlife. But what is known is that after many years of suffering on his own and killing people relentlessly, he was finally at peace after Malcolm said the words he thought he would never hear in his life.
Personality[]
When first brought into the world, Herobrine proved to try to be a helpful, kind, and calm person who just wanted to live the happiest life he could with his brother, and have grand adventures to make the two known throughout the land, but was sadly oblivious to his brother's evil plan.
After being murdered by his own sibling and coming back to life as a vengeful spirit, Herobrine deprived himself of all traces of humanity he had and turned into a homicidal, callous, manipulative, psychopathic, menacing, treacherous, barbaric, torturous, and diabolical individual who only looked out for himself and was only interested in hurting people. Herobrine was merciless and heartless, he took joy in picking off his victims slaughtering them one by one and sadistically messing and taunting with them just for fun before he kills them off, and goes as far as to psychologically torture them with vivid hallucinations of past memories, leaving them to never forget his presence.
Despite his cruel nature, Herobrine doesn't appear to be able to bring himself into killing his children, even though he does possess George and burst out of his body, he still cared about them and even gave Alan his powers. In his final moments, Herobrine carefully paid attention to what Malcolm had to see, and was encapsulated by his apology that no one, not even his own brother would say to him. He had finally realized his wrongdoings and willingly decided that his time in the overworld was up, and stepped into the End portal to prevent his hatred from making him continue his killing sprees.
Powers and Abilities[]
Herobrine has the ability to teleport from short to long distances, he can also use telekinesis to move blocks and people, as well as being able to induce madness and insanity into his victims, such as creating hallucinations to frighten or discourage them. Herobrine can also alter areas in various ways, such as making blocks disappear and leave nothing behind in the blink of an eye. Herobrine can also conjure fireballs and possess entities, even to the point where he can break apart and explode their bodies like a parasitic entity.
Herobrine has the ability to brainwash entities into obeying his every command, such as when he makes Tim fall down a hole to his death after being brainwashed. Herobrine can also mimic voices to lure people into traps and levitate above large gaps.
