If you’re confused because there doesn’t seem to be a correct method at this moment in time, just trust your intuition and betray your mind! It's what I do all the time, you'll find yourself happy- no, you'll find nothing at all! If you take that road that everyone else has taken, then you're no better than I!
~ Adam guiding a kidnapped child about where to go after their encounter.
... You know too much about me. I hope we meet again sometime in the future but in a different life and different reality. Don't try to find me. Please. If you take a step, not knowing that there’s a cliff ahead... you'll fall down it again. Blinded by carnal desires and jealousy, you willingly walk to the edge of the cliff… I’m too tired to fly and listen there’s only one path for me to take. This is that path, if you take it as well then; you'll find a jester.
~ Adam regaining a bit of his sanity while talking to Dark Owl and shortly vanishing.

Adam Goshenite, or better known as "Nihil" is a supporting antagonist of Haven, where people in the year 2046 gain "supernatural" powers. He is a monochrome black and white jester that made their appearance when people began to gain powers over time, he is completely separated from reality, seen in everyone's eyes as: "A Broken man that can't remember walking or himself". The way he acts depends on his "intuition", being the leading responsibility for the kidnapping of 38 children in the city of "Neopolis" and the now rising threat of "Magical Girls", a group of super-powered teens and younger that were kidnapped by the jester in order for them to kill him. Despite this he still manipulates them into killing people, in order for them to be captured which would then cause his weaknesses to be known by law officials and the main group of interest: "The Neos".

Biography[]

History

Past[]

Adam's past life is shrouded in complete mystery, from his insane rambles people can put together a small event that changed him. He met a person named "The Traveler", they made a song just for Adam, after this he began to be more irrational, his family life shattering as he tried to juggle both his mental state and the constant chore of watching over his only child. A few weeks would pass, Adam became more silent at work, screaming at his own friends he made over the years and showing malice towards their only son. Fearing for their life, their wife during a late night grabbed their son and ran off, a few years would pass where they both met on a building, Adam suffered an intense mental breakdown, seeing an hallucination where she took her own life by jumping off. This apparently sparked his own powers to form which tore apart his mind and appearance.

After this event he reportedly broke into a house and stole a child, they were never returned and seemly became a "Magical" girl, one with intense hunger that wouldn't end until the world itself ended, another kidnapping would take place outside an apartment where they broke through a window and traumatized a child to the point of awakening their own powers, however they were filled with hate, becoming "Magical" like with the last child, this would go on two more times until there were four.

Present[]

He made his first appearance where a Halloween festival was taking place, being mistaken as a cosplayer with a sense of abstract horror they would showcase their powers by seemly manipulating their own body, causing their "bones" to shatter to pieces, this was nothing more than a hallucination which caught the audience's interest, outside of this event he seemly didn't cause any incidents to occur, presuming to keep a low-profile.

He wouldn't make an appearance until he was found by a much more infamous villian "Ben", a person of interest with a well-known history of rampages throughout the city. They seemly shared a hobby, eating garbage from trashcans, The Jester also showed off that his face was more of a mask, which hid a seemly endless void where he'd place food in and "digest" it. After this, Nihil was given a temporary "home" at a bar Ben ran, where he met another individual which offered a role in a group known as "The Immortals", he lost an arm but it seemly "regenerated", into a more spider-like appendage overtime. Seemly following his own intuition he randomly made friends with a child that was manipulated into being apart of the group, seen as a close friend to them. Over time the leader of the group who hasn't told their name theorized that his wife might still be alive, sending Nihil into a crazed state.

First Encounter With The Neos[]

Seemly angered from losing his arm, he manipulated a magical girl to "save the day". Using her ability of pink fires she "saved" people by burning down a building, a fight ensued where she was overwhelmed at the start due to her not actually having fighting prowess, this was a red herring to Nihil's arrival and subsequent fight. The Jester lost the fight and at the end his insanity seemly dwindled to where he could be talked with; leaving behind a phone number on a sheet of paper with a message they seemly vanished from the destroyed city block.

Aftermath.[]

Adam after this took a break to recover from the encounter he had with the superhero group, seemly kidnapping more children with failed results of them becoming "Magical", leaving them in random locations where they seemly couldn't return home to, accidentally killing them in the process, but never knew they died. One child sparked their interest one named "Hallie Jewell", which was moved to a cave outside of a remote city. They constantly attempted to mentally break them into awakening their powers, only to be faced with resistance, overtime he grew soft and began taking care of the child, which the child greatly despised; after this they left the child to rot for a month with limited food supplies mostly coming from the things he left behind, which was enough for her to survive.

The Fifth Magical[]

Adam, seemly out buying more supplies in a much more human form, caught wind of a very mentally unstable child with a seemly parental guardian-like figure watching over them, using his powers to break him from a distance he awakened his powers and became "Magical", Adam was bombarded by bullets by the figure to the point of collapsing, only escaping through displaying a hallucination, using what supplies he had they seemly recovered from their wounds.

The Slow Return[]

Returning back to the cave "Hallie Jewell" was located at, Adam seemly eased his sadistic nature towards the child. Instead, focusing on what the child needs to say to get him killed once she's rediscovered, after a few arguments involving becoming a "Magical" girl. Adam reluctantly asked if they were to go outside, with Hallie having a disguise on at all times; asking this out of concern for her legs becoming too weak to physically move due to her not moving or walking at all in the cave.

The Oncoming Reality[]

The child despite her best actions of trying to escape every time they left, she would eventually receive help from a now defunct hero "Prime", this hero unbeknownst to the child was broken mentally by the person responsible for The Jester's insanity, the conflict between "hero" and villain only occurring due to the jester seeking them out, guided back to the cave where "Hallie" was kept, they would have a small fight resulting in Adam nearly being killed, escaping through a forced hallucination, the now mentally decayed child would be sent to a hospital after this, being watched over until she stabilized.

Back To The Basics[]

Hallie being saved from the grasp of The Jester wouldn't last long as after a few days, they be viscously hunting her down. Unfortunate for her she would be kidnapped once more, IV tubes and medical supplies being forcefully dragged alongside her. The next location would be more welcoming, an abandoned warehouse. Why she wasn't looked for by any law enforcement remains unknown but is highly implied that they were focused on a different threat.

The Final Rescue[]

After an extensive mental torture session with the child, The Jester would finally get what it wanted, they would finally awaken their powers however this wasn't known by the villain until much later due to them leaving the warehouse to make even more "Magicals". However, this would fall flat as their plan would be interrupted by a large city-threatening event, in an attempt to mock a hero that was deeply affected by them in their first battle, a famous hero "Iron Eye" would take the mantle of taking down The Jester, the battle they had was fantastical, "Magical", nonsensical and dramatic. It was almost like a dance rather than a fight, this being referenced near the end, where both parties fell from the air. This battle also shown one of The Jester's new powers, to create objects, the main one being an infinite supply of train tracks that made both parties travel across the city skies. This battle would finally lead to a conclusion where Adam would collapse on top of the unconscious hero. Both parties after this realized that, either side could've became the opposite if their fate was slightly altered. This fight alongside a robotic threat that not only threatened civilian life but the entire city as well, sparked hope knowing that The Neos, who people thought were corrupted weren't and truly cared for life. The Jester unconscious would be placed into the side of a van specially made to hold powerful villains like him, alongside being equipped with power-dampening cuffs.

The Stronghold[]

After the fight, The Jester would be transported to a holding facility where they would meet another villain who was seemingly redeemed they went by "Fenrir", this encounter lead to a very chaotic situation where one of the magical girls now known as "Honey" would try to take personal revenge onto The Jester, by attempting to burn him alive with her powers, this however only caused him to breach and his power-dampening cuffs to be damaged, causing an AI to take control of the stronghold and pretty much turn Nihil's insides inside out, by slamming them against the roof with the AI's control over the entire place, walls and ground included. After this they would be moved to an unknown location, where no-one knew where they were.

Hope[]

After two weeks of holding Nihil in the unknown location, an interrogation would be held, multiple details would come out. Mostly that Nihil was broken by an unknown character, he didn't actually know he killed the many children and someone was working behind the scenes to keep him there, considering the length he was held there. Before a catastrophic city-wide destroying event occurred, Nihil's interrogation would continue with a very well-known hero in the city "Dark Owl" came to ask him the questions, with him finally breaking The Jester's delusional mind, this revelation now knowing that the children died, would feel immense grief, being frozen in his own fear, alongside throwing himself into a corner of the room. Disgusted at his own actions, he asked to be killed on the spot. This wish didn't come to reality and the interrogation continued. Nihil would then explain that someone actually promised to return their wife, who was supposed to be "dead" in his eyes. They were described with red crimson eyes, which one of the many guard had in the building. This sparked another encounter with the mastermind behind everything involving The Jester. During this, The Jester escaped and the knowledge that the entire building was corrupted by said mastermind came to fruition. With Adam now once again free from his cage, he quickly left the building and to a forest.

Self-Redemption[]

After a large portion of the city was destroyed by a once-loved hero hater known as "Anthony Richardson", The Jester would roam a forest, far away from the city, only to meet two children who were badly injured. Unlike before, he actually took proper care of them and sought out "Dark Owl". This eventually occurring, with the ladder tracking down Nihil in order to make sure he wasn't kidnapping children, in an awkward showdown involving the two that didn't go anywhere, another villain "Camphor Noxii" arrived with a camera, taking a picture of "Dark Owl" helping Nihil with the children, with the intent of killing "Dark Owl" and ironically kidnapping the kidnapper. A battle occurred with "Camphor Noxii" and the hero took place, with Owl adapting quickly to the villian's attacks, who was also adapting to the hero. The side of battle would quickly change with one of the children known as "Mumu" transformed and quickly began to overwhelm "Camphor" who was also being pressured by Owl. During the start of the battle, Nihil took heavy damage and pretty much sat out during the entire fight, not wanting to interfere in said battle.

Personality[]

"The Jester isn't your friend! It'll try everything to grab you and take you to someplace bad. It walks with meaningless steps everywhere it goes, always remember to lock your windows and to make sure to look outside to make sure no-one is watching you!"
~ A quote from a PSA leaked on Neopolis's platform "Mytube".

Adam is described mostly by children as, "Mindless" seemly making random noises and screaming. Adam outside of this is follows it's own "intuition". To people who aren't below the age of twelve, they report him as a silent, unstable person with seemly paranoia of a cycle it's constantly apart of. In order to escape the cycle, it needs a "Magical" girl to kill him and then the world can be at peace. In reality, Adam is adducted to his one goal of being killed and seemly not caring for the actions he causes and truly only cares about his one goal. His treatment towards children in particular is seen as taunting, thinking they could escape his grasp only for him to drag them back, this is also seen when he called Hallie's parents, mimicking her voice and telling them that she was still alive, only for his own voice to take over, Adam mocked them and even told them that they weren't ever returning, his sadistic nature is only directed towards children in order for them to awaken and kill him in the future.

When his sanity is temporarily given back due to meeting someone suffering the same fate he has, he comes off as polite, remorseful and even caring telling them to never find him or go down the path he's taken in his own words "You'll find a Jester". This side is seemly his true personality and all the suffering he has inflicted was seemly from the song they heard.

Adam also shows that the longer he spends with someone, the more soft he can become; an example would be with a child he had kidnapped a month ago, "Hallie". Despite his sadistic nature his real personality stated above is slowly coming to fruition. This seemly started when his sanity was given back to him from the encounter he had with the "Neos."

This all would change after the realization that he did kill most of the children he came across, becoming reckless and becoming overly cautious around children, even staying away from them. It's existence becoming a contradiction, now being guided by the people who see "Hope" in it.
