Union is the main antagonistic faction of the Brandon Sanderson novel The Sunlit Man. It is a nation on the planet of Canticle ruled by the Cinder King. Due to the Cinder King's control of the Charred, it began to expand until it took over most of the planet.

History[]

Union was founded by the Cinder King after he found some otherworldly encyclopedias and used them to create a nation. It slowly began to expand when he took control of the Charred. Eventually, it took up most of the world. Its main threat was a rebellious movement lead by the people of the town of Beacon.

The Cinder King became involved in a conflict with an offworlder named Nomad, culminating in them fighting and falling off of his ship. As the two fought on the service, the Cinder King's servants decided to fly his ship away, leaving their king to die in the sun.
