~ Springy, to MePhone4. |
Springy is the secondary antagonist of Inanimate Insanity Invitational the third season of the web-series, Inanimate Insanity.
He was formerly a deranged, corrupt cereal mascot, who had an unhealthy obsession with Bot, and loved to feed into MePhone4's negative tendencies to keep him under his control. He, along with Walkie-Talkie, served as the commanders of the Unvitational Committee, before he reformed later on to fight for the heroes.
He is voiced by Zuwie LeFou.
Appearance[]
He is a helical compression spring with cartoony, googly eyes, one bigger than the other, and hands with red mittens over top of them. He's also taller then most of the contestants.
In "A Jury of Your Fears", it is revealed that Springy has become deformed after being devoured by The Floor. His eyes are out of proportion, his gloves are roughed up and stitched over, his metal is now rusty, and his spring body is dislocated and out of shape. As a result, Springy becomes much taller because of this dislocation. After he dies, Springy is revived back to his normal self.
Personality[]
Springy initially presents himself as an overall silly, friendly, and laid-back individual who just wants to have fun, but over time, he reveals his true personality: being stubborn and manipulative. This is demonstrated when he attempted to buy Bot's likeness to use as a mascot or when he tries to use MePhone4's obsessiveness towards them to his advantage, by attempting to make him sign a contract to sell all the contestants as toys and make them all part of a 'Collection.' When denied, he gets scared and becomes threatening and angry, with the desire to kill anyone who deny him.
After he comes back, he becomes vengeful and almost heartless, having created a legal toy of Bot without permission as vengeance. He also hypocritically called MePhone4 dismissive, when he dismissed Cabby after she tried to convince him to change. However, he would truly change after seeing how MePhone4's survival made the contestants happy and when Walkie-Talkie disposes any use of him and the Committee.
Biography[]
In "Spring on the Breakfast!", Springy is able to appear on the Show due to Springtastic! making an agreement with MePhone4 with the promise to make his Cast and show better, with the promise to make the contestants give him a high-five and say his iconic catchphrase at the end.
Springy first appears as your regular friendly figure that wants to have fun, but the Floor gets suspicious of the Springs actions and tries to warn MePhone4, but MePhone4, overcome with honor over Springy's presence, ignores him. Springy then makes MePhone4 sign a contract.
When Bot gets to the Top, Springy gets excited and starts trying to pressure Bot to come with him to be the new mascot of Springtastic!, but Bot's Inani-Mate, N/A makes them realize that they can find others who understand them, and not just be copies. Springy, now upset and in a panic at MePhone4 because if the orders they sent weren't completed, the contract will be terminated. MePhone4 stands up to Springy, rejecting his offer by saying that he, and the contestants, weren't Springy's toys. Springy angrily glitches, while threatening to kill all of them, but Cabby shoves him off the box. Springy however, isn't intimidated, believing that he could just Spring back up, but then he looks down to see the Floor with a wide open mouth. Springy screams in horror as he falls into the Floor's mouth and is eaten alive.
In “The Show Must Go On", before the credits, Springy is heard attempting to break out of the ground, as Walkie-Talkie claims that they only have one more chance. Springy's fist then emerges from the ground, before he glitches.
In "A Jury of Your Fears", Springy sees Sprinkles sleeping in a nest, and convinces the Inani-Mate to join his cause, revealing his and Walkie-Talkie's plan to get rid of MePhone4. Later, after the Unvitational Committee lock most of the contestants in the jail cell and disable MePhone4 with with a USB chip, Springy reveals himself to be alive, and evilly reveals his affilation with Walkie-Talkie, who arrives with the other members of the Unvitational Committee. Springy than captures the Floor in the terrarium used in "Home is Where the Heart Is" , and comments on how nothing good came to people who worked with MePhone4, referencing previous co-hosts. However, Candle unexpectedly arrives and begins defeat the Committee with her Inner Flame, as Springy watches on nervously. Ultimately, Silver, unable to handle how Candle decided not to vote for her, unleashes his own Inner Flame and accidentally knocks out Candle, much to his shock.
In "You Can't Do This Forever", Cabby suggests executing MePhone to the Committee, much to the delight of Springy and Walkie-Talkie, but to the disgust of Dr. Fizz, Groscer and Zoetrope, who refuse due to their own personal reasons (Dr. Fizz following his oath to do no harm, Groscer trying to keep a pristine image, and Zoetrope wanting to avoid takedown videos), thus sparking an argument between the Unvitationals. When Tyler suggests they melt MePhone, Groscer refuses, believing there were other ways to deal with him than death, but Springy ignores her, claiming that majority-ruled, and orders MePhone to be thrown in the lava. Cabby, however, asks if Springy wanted justice, who answers with a "I suppose?". He than admits that it'd be great to show his "prized toy" firsthand, said toy being a Spring-toys that looked like Bot ,which he holds up proudly, saying that nothing went more hand-in-hand than corporation and morality. Bot, angered, told Springy that he would pay, only for Springy to taunt them and ask if they wanted to influence the toy with violent language, calling it and the other Walkie Bots special and no lifeless husk like the others, and that he's programmed them with "all of Bot's greatest hits". He than proclaims that Bot would be one of many Bot toys, as he triumphantly holds up a contract to prove it. Cabby attempts to attack Springy, but is calmed down by Balloon, who gives each member of the Committee, including Springy, a folder from Cabby to begin the discussion of MePhone's fate.
The discussion begins as each member explain why they hated MePhone, including Springy, who claims that he came to the island just to have his contract ignored after he gave "helpful" ideas to save the show, which Balloon counters with how Springy wanted to replace everyone with toy replicas. Springy than counters that statement by saying it'd have saved everyone more anxiety. After Tyler and Sprinkles are convinced to not melt MePhone, the other Committee members make a reason to why MePhone was a bad person, with Springy claiming that MePhone was dismissive.
Cabby than tries to convince Springy to change his mind with a speech, but Springy dismisses her, mockingly saying what he believed she was trying to say: that MePhone was a great guy deep down and he'd being seeing it all wrong because he was a lonely lost toy wearing some mask. Springy, while glitching, asks Cabby if she thought she could put him in an emotional moment, which Cabby replies to, telling him that she couldn't, because he was soulless, caring about no one but himself, as she berates him for trying to make Bot live someone else's life again, and telling him that he couldn't help the show, only being able to destroy.
Springy, remaining in denial, but desperate, tells MePhone that he said Springy was helpful, and made him smile, before he snaps and, while glitching, claims that Cabby didn't know anything about right or wrong, as she punted him down into the Floor's mouth, and didn't apologize. Cabby, unable to control herself, snaps and tells Springy that she wouldn't give any more apologies after all her previous ones, and she wouldn't give any to him after he terrorized Bot.
Later, after tallying up the votes, from each Committee member, Groscer reveals that they were tied with five 'melt' and five 'not melt'. Walkie begins to celebrate believing they were going to the original melting plan, only for Groscer to reveal a 'not melt' vote from Ballpoint Pen, which counted since he was previously invited to the Committee. This causes the 'not melt' voters and the contestants to cheer, and the 'melt' voters to be disappointed. Springy, as he sees the finalists celebrating and smiling, MePhone's survival, smiles as he realizes how much MePhone meant to them and the show.
Walkie-Talkie, however, refuses to accept the revelation, revealing that she was only using the other Committee members, including Springy, who becomes sad over the fact that the one he saw as an ally didn't see him as one also. As Walkie-Talkie takes control of the Walkie-Bots, including the Spring! Bot, to take MePhone to the volcano, the Floor tells Springy that they couldn't continue the show without MePhone, which convinces Springy to pick up the Floor and give chase.
Springy and the Floor arrive at the volcano, where Walkie-Talkie offers him the honors to execute MePhone. Springy tells her that MePhone deserves pain, but not like this, as he admits that MePhone gave life to the show in a way that they couldn't and he wanted to help. Walkie-Talkie refuses and claims that she was built to keep Inanimate Insanity alive, and she thought Springy had the same views, as he was thrown away at the height of achieving his purpose, but Springy tells her that that purpose was now in the past, and it was time to go to the next thing. However, Walkie-Talkie refuses to give up nor bow down, as she believed she still had her purpose. However, she was confronted by Silver, now in full control of his Inner Flame. As Silver threateningly approaches her, Springy tauntingly tells her that Silver just wanted to play. Walkie-Talkie finally puts MePhone down, and is turned off by Silver, disabling the Walkie-Bots.
Unfortunately, the Spring-Bot activates, cries out "My purpose" and knocks into MePhone, leaving him hanging off the edge of the volcano. Just as the Spring-Bot tries to send him plummeting into the lava, Springy tackles it, saying that it was finally free, before throwing it onto the other edge of the volcano, but he himself falls into the lava and perishes.
Luckily, in the few seconds before Springy's demise, MePhone had hacked into the code of his MeLife app, which made Springy as a revivable character, allowing MePhone to successfully revive Springy as his non-rusty self. Springy celebrates his return and, picks up the Spring-Bot, admitting that Cabby was right about how Bot could be whatever they wanted. Springy then tells MePhone that they were now square, before bouncing away with the Spring-Bot in hand, now fully redeemed.
