~ Risotto to Jerry Smith. |
Risotto Groupon is the main antagonist in the Rick and Morty episode "The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy". He is the assistant general manager of an unnamed alien restaurant at the immortality field resort but soon turns out to be a crime boss, with most of the staff working for him. He is portrayed as a tall and slightly obese alien with multiple scars on his body.
He was voiced by Clancy Brown, who also voiced Lex Luthor in the DC Animated Universe and Mr. Krabs in Spongebob SquarePants.
Biography[]
Background[]
Risotto is apparently the leader of an enslaved alien kind. He claims that the reason for their enslavement is Rick Sanchez selling weapons and technology to the enemy. Now working at a restaurant, he secretly plots to kill Rick with the help of Jerry Smith, but the plan fails and Risotto is killed by Rick while on an airship.
The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy[]
Risotto first appears in the episode when he sucks Jerry Smith into a storage closet using a booby-trapped hand dryer. He then proceeds to tell him that his kind were enslaved because of Rick, who sold weapons to their enemies. He tells Jerry that both of them hate Rick and suggests a plan to kill him. He asks Jerry to lure Rick onto a famous attraction called the Whirly Dirly, which was built over the immortality field that was covering the restaurant and was making its inhabitants immortal, so that his henchmen could kill him once they were out of the field. At first, Jerry agrees, and the plan goes well, but he soon changes his mind and he and Rick foil Risotto's plan.
Furious, Risotto tracks both of them down to an airship that was leaving the planet. He escorts them to the escape pod hangar at gunpoint and asks Jerry to step into one of the escape pods while he kills Rick, who was injected with a synaptic dampener that seriously debilitated his mind and put him into a state of sheer stupidity. Jerry, however, refuses to leave Rick and attacks Risotto, causing his gun to go off and deactivate the ship's temporal shield. Recovering quickly, Risotto is about to shoot Jerry when the ship travels through a wormhole. Since the shield had been disabled, all three men were taken into a deep psychedelic trip.
The trip is mentally shocking enough to leave Risotto and Jerry dazed and confused for a short time, but is long enough for the effects of the dampener to wear off from Rick, who takes the opportunity to snatch Risotto's gun and shoot him in the head, killing the assistant-manager instantly.
