Milred is one of the main antagonist from Celtic Kings: Rage of War. He was the leader of the huge Teuton horde attacking the Gauls, the initiator of a massive and destructive invasion, who caused a lot of death and pain to the Gauls, the archenemy of the legendary Gaul hero Larax, who wanted revenge.
Biography[]
Milred was one of the leaders of the Teutons, who were notoriously bloodthirsty and cruel barbarian warriors. On one occasion, leading a huge horde, he launched a massive invasion against the territories of Gaul in order to conquer as many territories as possible, kill as many people as he and his warriors can and gain as much loot and land as possible. The attack was initially very successful, the Gauls were unprepared for such a powerful attack, and the Teuton hordes advanced quickly. In particular, great destruction was done in a Gaul village, Kormaris, where almost the entire population was massacred, the buildings were set on fire or completely destroyed, and some people were captured and locked up in an outpost. However, the survivors, led by a Gaul warrior named Larax, were able to put up minimal resistance as the Teutons who attacked them were killed and the prisoners from the outpost were freed. However, they wanted to leave the destroyed village as soon as possible, because Milred returned with his huge army, but the losses were insignificant to him, since he lost few men compared to his horde, and he had much bigger plans. After destroying the village, he tried to leave smaller hordes behind to conquer or plunder the smaller villages and cities, while he and the main army moved north-west through the forest and mountains.
The smaller groups of the Teutons also posed a threat, but Larax and other Gauls had figured out a few things about them. The Teuton hordes were no longer able to fight effectively against the well-prepared, adequately-numbered, and persistent Gallic warriors, warlords, and heroes, and they also had too many battles in which losses gradually increased. Milred also noticed that raids and surprise attacks worked, but that properly prepared enemies could cause problems, so he resorted to new strategies and weapons. He ordered his shamans to perform dark rituals on the sacred places of the Gauls, corrupt or absorb the magical power that was generated from them, then go to the cemeteries and ruined areas of the Gauls and Druids and resurrect the dead as ghouls. He also ordered the shamans to use dark magic, such as plague, against their enemies and to unite with smaller hordes to fight together.Among his hordes were less important ones and some that wanted to cause very serious damage to the Gauls. Some of the smaller hordes, in addition to conquest and plunder, wanted to achieve more specific things, namely to cause serious damage to the druids. The Teuton shamans began performing dark rituals in the sacred areas of the Druids, using necromancy in cemeteries to resurrect the dead in the form of ghouls, and began using plagues against the Gauls. These actions were two-sided, because some of the Gauls were frightened and afraid of the Teutons, but in some of them it aroused great hatred and they wanted to kill the invaders at all costs. Milred also took a Gaul tribe into his service, forcing them to betray their homeland and help the Teutons in their plundering and dark rituals. Larax had thwarted the plans of the smaller hordes, but Milred's main army and the more important forces were still too numerous, and now the evil warlord began to implement his main plans. He ordered his vast horde to capture the stronghold of Bibracte, but first to conquer the outposts. The Teuton attack initially went very well, the outposts were captured almost without any problems, it seemed that the Gauls had no chance, but the siege of the fortress had not yet begun. Milred's plan was probably to surround the stronghold by conquering the entire area around it and then launch an overwhelming attack from all directions. However, the attack was thwarted by Larax, who recaptured the garrisons, but this was not just a simple victory. The Teutons lost two large and strong hordes there, and although the Gauls also suffered heavy losses, it seemed that the turning point in the war had come. This was not yet the turning point, but Milred was attracted to the young Gallic hero and took the threat seriously, so he took action. During his conquests, he converted the village of Decatia into a prison camp and ordered the leader of the Teutonic forces stationed there to capture the Gaul and take him to the camp. Larax and his friend, a young druid named Lleldoryn, were heading towards Gergovia when they were attacked by the Teutons. The druid became invisible, and the young hero fought as long as he could, but was eventually captured and taken to the camp, where the leader said he would soon meet Milred, but he would not be happy about it. However, once the threat was over, the leader of the Teutons was not interested in Larax for the time being, he wanted to continue his campaign of conquest and with his huge army he pushed further into the lands of the Gauls. However, Larax once again successfully thwarted his plan, as he managed to escape from the prison camp and occupy it, in which many experienced Teutonic warriors were killed by the Gauls.
However, Milred seemed to have learned from the enemy's successes, as he decided not to send any more small groups, but to use only large hordes against the enemy. This made things considerably more difficult for the Gauls, as the large hordes of Teutons consisted exclusively of strong and experienced warriors, just waiting to fight and kill. At the same time, the warlord also made sure that his own army remained large, as Larax was inflicting increasingly unpleasant losses on him and now it seemed that the tide could really turn.
Personality[]
It is certain that Milred was a vile, bloodthirsty, cruel, merciless and unscrupulous person. In the war against the Gauls, he used the most unprincipled and meanest methods possible, for example the complete slaughter of the civilian population, the raising of the dead by shamans or the creation of plague clouds, but the most frequently used method was looting and the complete destruction of a given area. What was interesting about him, however, was that unlike many barbarians and warlords, he did not underestimate his enemies, took even the smallest threat seriously, and learned from his mistakes and the successes of his enemies. His constantly new, sudden, and good strategies also made him a dangerous enemy, as he was able to come up with a new and unexpected response or tactic at any time.
Powers and abilities[]
Milred was one of the strongest warriors of the Teutons, compared to whom the other wild and bloodthirsty warriors were tiny beginners. Compared to the other Teutons, he was extremely persistent, hardy and stubborn, his physical strength was also greater, and he was also an experienced swordsman. Mildred was also skilled and talented in guerilla and open battle strategy, causing unpleasant surprises for both the Gauls and the Romans on many occasions.
