Malina is a minor antagonist in Helltaker. The female demon that the titular Helltaker encountered on the fourth stage to obtain his demon harem, Malina has the moniker of The Sour Demon. Being a grumpy demon who got annoyed by several idiotic people and is a rather introverted demon who has soft spot for alcoholic drinks and turn-based strategies video games.

She also has a sister named Zdrada. Due to their differing point of view to the point they also act as an antithesis towards each other, Malina often quarrels with her sister.

Appearance[]

Malina appears as a female demon with shoulder length white hair, red eyes and a demon tail. Over the course of the game, Malina always sports a frown on her face which befits her moniker as "The Sour Demon" who is always grumpy and isolating herself to gain some comfort. She also wears a black vest with red shirt tucked inside of it, some black bracelets in both of her hands and a black skirt with black long leggings.

Personality[]

As shown in the flashbacks from the comic created by Vanripper and the games itself, Malina is depicted as a grumpy demon with a rather harsh life due to her job keeping Hell in relative order by doing pointless tasks such as sweeping, not even helping that Helltaker's existence in Hell as he punches the Skull Guard causes even more messes which irritates Malina. In addition to all of this, Malina also has a huge vitriol against her sister, Zdrada, who tend to belittle or embarrass her at times which made Malina annoyed. When Malina got irritated, she has no hesitation to murder someone including the likes of Helltaker.

However, in the end, Malina tries her best to found enjoyment in life and trying to reduce her burden by playing turned-based strategy games, her favorite type of video game genre, which she ordered another demon, Charon, to buy it for her with Heroes 3 being her favorite due to magnificent creatures and handsome men. Malina is also shown to be alcoholic who loves to drink vodkas, viewing it as a second enjoyment for her. After she joins Helltaker's side and his harem, she becomes cordial with him, even playing turn-based strategies together alongside him and Azazel despite sometimes she becomes bored and irritated by some of the games she had played due to those games mankind produced being perceived as a lazily-made sequel or a ripoff of some other work.

Biography[]

Malina appears in the fourth stage of the game. When encountering Helltaker for the first time, Malina becomes annoyed as he approaches her due to him being a potential brain-dead idiot that will annoy her leisure time. Because of this, Malina then asks what the Helltaker's purpose on coming into Hell and what he's currently playing on his sleeves. If the Helltaker asks to be further insulted, Malina becomes irritated by his comment and calls him a masochistic creep, while killing him swiftly in a manner that results in Helltaker's throat exploding and emitting blood from it like a fountain.

However, if the Helltaker says he'd love to play with her, Malina ends up joining the harem because she wants to play turn-based strategy video games with him. While playing a minor role in the next stages and advising the Helltaker to kick some rocks if he hadn't played dungeon-based rhythm crawlers before, in stage 6, she bickered with her sister, Zdrada, due to the latter attempting to tell an embarrassing story about Malina's fetish with turn-based strategies video games, which caused Malina getting irritated and asks Helltaker to kill one of the sisters. The Helltaker can choose to "Kill them Both", to which Pandemonica stops him and tells him that he'll get use to their bickering sooner or later.

When the Helltaker has a hard time to sabotaging the sin machine implemented by Judgement, Malina assumed that Helltaker played a video game called "Necropolis" due to her bad luck when Zdrada mocking her after she found another nerd for her company. Towards the end of the game, as Helltaker and his brand-new companions that he made in hell successfully return home, as Helltaker offers a pancake for her, Malina complained about how hard it is to find new turn-based strategies that they could play together because according to her perception, almost everything mankind produced is either a lazily-made sequel or a ripoff of some other work. Despite this, Helltaker doesn't really mind as he will play those turn-based strategies with Malina in the end. As a result, Malina then prepared some vodka for their own entertainment. At one point in one of the comics created by Vanripper, she attempts to alleviate the mood during the chaos in Helltaker's world regarding Alien Invasion and Zombie Apocalypse by playing tabletop games together with Helltaker, Lucifer and Azazel which resulted on the former two bickering with each other in the end.

Trivia[]

• Malina's name means "raspberry" in Polish. This makes sense due to her sour attitude she had portrayed in the game as not only raspberry also means "a rude sound made by sticking the tongue out and blowing" according to Cambridge Englsh Dictionary, she was also named that due to her interest with vodka which could go well with raspberry cocktail.
• Malina originally had tattoos on her arms, but these were removed due to them being difficult to draw.
• Malina's favorite turn-based strategy game is Heroes of Might and Magic III and it is stated by the creator, VanRipper.
