The Mad Scientist is a minor antagonist from We Bare Bears, appearing as the main antagonist of the episodes "Grizz Helps" and "Summer Love". He is a scientist who is responsible for kidnapping various animals and using them as test subjects for his so-called "inventions".
He is voiced by Jason Mantzoukas, who also voices Jay Bilzerian from Big Mouth, Scrappy-Doo from Velma and Steelbeak from the 2017 reboot of DuckTales.
Personality[]
Before becoming a Mad Scientist, he was a joyful, kind-hearted, and optimistic person. However, after the love of his life left him, he began losing his sanity. He developed some form of Grandiose Delusional Disorder, which made him believe that his inventions were only malfunctioning and needed minor fixes. In reality, his inventions were just a mix of modern technologies, making them impossible to work.
His disorder is also evident in his unwavering belief that all his ideas and conclusions are true. For example, he believed that Grizzly and the dogs he walked were from the future, and that anyone trying to stop him was a government spy sent to take his inventions.
Eventually, Panda helped him realize his flaws, which snapped him back to reality, possibly leading him to believe he should forget the past and move on.
Biography[]
The Mad Scientist's past is largely unknown. In the episode "Grizz Helps," he appears as the central antagonist, kidnapping animals for his experiments. It's hinted that his ultimate goal is to destroy the world in revenge against the government.
He returns in "Summer Love" as the central antagonist, trying to swap minds with Panda to test an invention. However, he stops when he sees Panda chasing someone he calls his "true love." This snaps the Mad Scientist out of his delusion. He then reveals his backstory: he once worked for the government and fell in love with a woman named Amelia. Their relationship ended when Amelia was chosen to go to space, leading to an impact which would break his heart. This led him to quit his job, become homeless, and slowly lose his sanity. During this time, he met his loyal friend Garry. After the events of "Summer Love", it is implied that he's given up on revenge and is focusing on self-improvement.
