The bite has calmed your turmoil within you. The girl clouded your mind, poisoned your exalted bloodline. Defiled your majesty within human frality. We will cleanse you, wipe all memory of the girl from your thoughts, purify your body, and prepare you for your prophesied destiny. Only through the gods' benevolent purge are we made pure. When only our blood flows through the child's veins, his consecration will be complete, and he will lead us as the Kaiju Messiah!
~ The High Priestess beginning the ceremonial ritual dedicated to the Kaiju Messiah.
Conceived by the gods, born of the earth, and now purified by the Sisterhood, our Messiah will rise anew to lead all Kaiju in triumph!
~ The High Priestess nearly completing the ritual.
Messiah, fear not. Your disciples have liberated you once more. Such crimes against the new order dictate the most severe of punishments.
~ The High Priestess' final words as she has her heart pierced and crushed by Boy.

The High Priestess is one of the main antagonists (alongside Shane) in the 2021 Japanese-American streaming series, Pacific Rim: The Black, based on the Pacific Rim film franchise.

She is the leader of a fanatical cult known as the Sisters of the Kaiju, a female-only group that worships the Kaiju and believed that they were "dark angels" that were tasked with eliminating humanity for their sins, as well as seeing the Jaegers as "false idols" and blasphemy to the ones they worshipped. She believed that the Boy was their messiah and tried to use him to eradicate all of humanity.

She is voiced by Leilani Jones.

Personality[]

The High Priestess is exemplified as fanatical, but also vicious, cruel, and delusional. Viewing Kaiju as "dark angels" and the Precursors as "gods", she takes initial strive into prolonging the prophecy of the Kaiju Messiah through measurable means and is merciless, killing all men in her path and taking in unsuspecting women to what she believes could bring about the downfall of humanity and showcase the Kaiju's superiority above all in the name of what the Precursors having been enacting in their quest for conquering Earth.

Despite worshipping the Kaiju, the High Priestess doesn't show as much concern for the Rippers' well-being and just coldly stare at a deceased Ripper's corpse in fury of Brina's betrayal, as well as apathetically doing the same to the other Kaiju they summoned after the Travis siblings and Mei. Viewing Boy as the "Messiah" whose the key to their cause and the Kaiju's "triumph", she comes to see his bond with Hayley was "poison" that tainted his entire bloodline and isn't above cruelly having children killed, especially when forcibly having the brainwashed Brina go after her own.

Biography[]

It is never mentioned how the High Priestess came to be, though it is believed that she was a humanoid being who alongside her fellow cultists are a coven how had longed worshipped Kaiju for decades, believing and symbolizing them to be "dark angels" whom are created to seek vengeance against the sins of humanity, while painting Jaegers as "false idols" of blasphemy against them. The High Priestess is said to be the oldest of its cult members and has longed preached the philosophy since then, with their primary hideout - the Divide - located in the landscapes of Australia. Leading the Sisters in their raids, the High Priestess is known for kidnapping women into their cult and killing numerous men in sacrificial rituals, which they brainwash women by getting into their mind and turning them in a rather painful and inhumane way that sees their skin mutated and their eyes turned blue. They also gather around and pave human skulls outside the entrance of their lair to represent the downfall of humanity and the dominance of their cause, with said skulls likely being their past victims.

She and the Sisters also rustled numerous Kaiju with their own called "the Rippers" in Never Never Valley where Bunyip-Man currently resides, and likely kept some beneath their lair's water pit. She was even implicated to have come across summoning other Kaiju into attacking unsuspecting Jaegers and their pilots, keeping their Jaegers' parts lying around the Sisters' lair. She and the Sisters were also in contact with bandit and black marketing groups, such as the Bogan, who requested and collected Kaiju eggs and were feared among them, something which Mei herself was familiar with their raids and people she knew died by their hands or taken in. At some point, she and the Sisters once confronted Hunter Vertigo, a Jaeger piloted by Taylor and Hayley's parents, Ford and Brina. From there, they managed to kidnap Brina and painfully brainwashed her into a member of the Sisters, where her influence over Brina's memories would eventually be eaten alive and evaporated when drifted.

It is indicated that she sent members of the Sisters to first track down Boy, a Category II Kaiju in the disguise of a human, in Clayton City, then they first approached and ensnared him with a spider-like Kaiju, often called the "Kaiju Tick", infecting him as they leave when Taylor and Hayley came to him. Later when Taylor, Hayley, and Mei in Atlas Destroyer came across their territory in the Divide, they found a message left by them in the form of giant woods sticks uttering the word ; "The Child", making it clear they want Boy in their possession, with Mei realizing from the beginning they planned this from the start after having Boy infected by the Kaiju Tick, to which Taylor was left with no choice but to offer Boy to them at night.

The High Priestess would eventually make her appearance when her fellow Sisters gathered around the poisoned Boy placed on stone, looming over him and sensing Hayley has "clouded and poisoned" him, now intending to "purify" him and cleanse him of any memory about Hayley to begin preparing him for his "prophesied destiny". To which the High Priestess uses a golden dagger, slitting her left hand and pouring her blue blood onto a red cup, beginning a ceremonial ritual as she has the other Sisters slit their hands and pour their blood onto the cup while chanting "master, savior". Once the cup was full enough, the High Priestess pours it onto Boy through injecting him with syringe, soon alerting Apex, a Kaiju-Jaeger Drone Hybrid, into tracking his location when it sensed Boy was in danger. Completing the ritual and overseeing the transfusion, she chants how the Messiah is nearing and that all Kaiju will triumph in his awakening.

As the Travis siblings, Mei, and Brina locate the Divide's lair, the latter manages to infiltrate and make her way into the ritual where it is near completion. Unfortunately, the High Priestess will able to take notice of Brina's changed presenc and soon tries to gain control of her telepathically once more, forcing her to sell out her children and Mei's infiltration and soon sending a Ripper after them, only to discover one of the Sisters are left unconscious and robbed of her signature robe and mask, prompting the High Priestess to force a brainwashed Brina into killing her own children and Mei with the golden knife at her palm, unaware Mei infiltrated the ritual in disguise. With Taylor and Hayley at the mercy of a brainwashed Brina, the High Priestess soon realizes Mei had taken Boy off their grasp and immediately ordered for the "Messiah" to be brought back and kill his "abductor".

When Brina chooses to be left behind and protected the kids from the Rippers, managing to take out two of them, the High Priestess grows furious and continuously sent numerous Kaiju after them in Atlas Destroyer as they tried to escape for Sydney Base, unfortunately, the wounds she took from the Ripper were too severe that it killed her. Following Atlas Destroyer after the Travis siblings just buried their mother, the High Priestess chants the "reign of the Messiah" is beginning, as the chants soon took over Boy painfully, causing him to mutate and transform him back into his Kaiju form. As Boy attacked Atlas Destroyer, he can be seen trying to fight back but the influence of the Sisters proven to be too strong, and once they got full control over him, the High Priestess ordered Boy to crush Atlas Destroyer, forcing each other to fight until Apex arrived to make Boy remember who he was. Though the High Priestess and the Sisters then begins further their telepathic abilities to shield Boy from "bane and corruption".

Their influence would force Boy into destroying Apex and curbstomping him to death, then soon bashing its head down in spite of trying to stop him. Once Atlas Destroyer reset itself and managed to restrain Boy, Hayley allowed Apex to finish giving Boy back his memories, though Apex dies and shuts down due to the severe damage it took, leaving a remorseful Boy to grieve. Determined to bring back their "Messiah" and put an end to the Travis sibling and Mei, the High Priestess has the Sisters blow their horns to call in other Kaiju, forcing Atlas Destroyer and Boy to retreat in the long run for Sydney Base. Enraged, the High Priestess and the Sisters soon unveiled their robe with the former glaring at them as they leave, preparing themselves to take matters into their own hands. As more Kaiju were sent after them but were instantly defeated, the High Priestess and the Sisters oversee the aftermath and now decided to have the Breacher summoned, using the horns once more to call the Kaiju forth near a city.

Once reaching Sydney Base, Breacher would begin pummeling Atlas Destroyer while the High Priestess and the Sisters were caught in debris when missile rockets launched at them. Surviving the blast, the High Priestess unveils her mask and tries to get hold of Boy before confronting Mei, taunting her how she abandoned her fellow members during her raids against the Bogan and leaving them to die while taking the women with her. Forcing Mei to stand down as it is not her fight, the High Priestess comes around laughing until she shot her Ripper numerous times but manages to sneak around snatching Boy while Mei is distracted. When Boy awakens and tries to back away from the Priestess, she insists that she has liberated him from his loved ones once more, insisting that humanity is to be punished for going up against "the new order", with Breacher ripping apart Atlas Destroyer and nearly killing the Travis siblings, which a furious Boy has finally had enough and crushed her heart out for everything she had done to him, ending her and the Sisters of the Kaiju for good.
