~ Gyarados' Pokédex entry in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond. |
Gyarados is one of the most notorious and feared Pokémon in the world. It is one of the most violent and destructive of all Pokémon, and is one of the rare breeds that actively seeks out destruction. Gyarados' rampages are so deadly and ruinous that in ancient times it was revered and feared as a God of Destruction. Going from being the weakest Pokémon in the world as a Magikarp, to fearsome powerhouse, few things can stop this atrocious sea serpent and entire towns have been brought to utter decimation by them.
Appearance[]
Gyarados is over twenty feet long, making it one of the largest water dwelling Pokémon there is. It has a massive and long serpentine body with sharp dorsal fins adorning its back and a armored crest on its face. Its mouth is enormous and able to open very wide, used in conjunction with devastating attacks released from it. Male Gyrados have whiskers that match the color of its body, while female whiskers are white. Gyarados are known to come in the color red, although this is exceptionally rare.
Personality[]
Wild Gyarados are a rare kind of Pokémon in that they are inherently malicious and evil. While they can become trusted friends to trainers whom they share a very strong bond with, even protecting their trainers from harm, the same could be said for most if not all Pokémon. In their natural habitat however, Gyarados brings nothing but chaos and misery, leaving complete destruction and death in its wake. It is believed that the extreme change the Magikarp underwent when evolving affected the Gyarados' brain, turning it into an uncontrollable monster driven entirely by rage and and a desire to destroy. Exceedingly easily enraged, once one goes on a rampage, it will not stop until virtually everything around it has been decimated. Over the ages Gyarados have laid waste to entire populated areas, and if one wasn't bad enough, they have been known to sometimes arrive in groups, spelling certain doom for anyone and everything in their path. Their destructive tendencies are so bad that they at times even actively seek out things to attack, showing they can be quite sadistic for wanton violence. They are often considered to be evil counterparts of Milotic, the Tender Pokémon.
