Biography[]
Season 1[]
After having a romantic relationship with a vampire named Bethanne, Frederick was affected by her tragic death at the hands of Stefan and Damon during an attack on Pearl's house. This event sparked an intense desire for revenge towards the founding families, leading Frederick to kidnap Stefan along with his friend Harper while Pearl was absent from town.
After Stefan was kidnapped by Frederick and Harper, Damon, Alaric, and Elena searched for him until they reached Frederick's cabin owned by Samantha Gibbons. After killing Samantha, Damon was able to gain access to the house and rescue Stefan, who was in a state of great distress. Frederick managed to escape into the woods, so Damon and Alaric went after him, while Elena tried to take Stefan. However, Frederick prevented him from taking it away, causing Stefan physical harm in the process. Elena, enraged, threw Frederick against a tree, leaving him incapacitated for a few moments. Seizing the opportunity, Elena gave Stefan some of his blood, which helped him recover quickly.
Finally, Stefan was able to take revenge on Frederick for his actions, brutally murdering him.
Season 3[]
After the other side collapsed, Frederick returned to terrorize the team, but his return was short-lived thanks to Sheila Bennet and Bonnie's powerful spell, which shut down the other side and eventually made him disappear.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Vampire Physiology: As a non-original vampire he has the following abilities
- Super - Strenght: Vampires are much stronger than supernatural hunters, immortals, and humans, and they continue to grow stronger as they age. They have the ability to toss an average-size, fully-grown human across a room with great speed and force, lift grown men high off the ground by the throat and snap their necks, cut off a person's head with their bare hands, and rip out internal organs like hearts with little effort. Their strength is also more powerful than that of werewolves in their human form and allows them to jump higher and further than any natural creature. The emotional status of the vampire can also affect their strength, and vampires who feed on humans are stronger than those who feed on animal blood.
- Super Speed: Vampires can move quickly to cover short distances and appear as vibrating blurs of motion when running across long distances. They have heightened reflexes and dexterity that enable them to catch projectiles such as arrows and thrown stakes with ease.
- Improved Agility: Vampires have superhuman agility, allowing them to jump, climb, and run at incredible speeds without exhaustion. **Enhanced Senses: Vampires have highly developed senses of hearing, sight, smell, and taste that are far superior to those of huans and werewolves. They can hear whispers from faraway buildings and on phones, but they can also tune out ambient noise. They can smell blood from several meters away, see in total darkness, and taste drugs, alcohol, or vervain in someone's blood.
- Enhanced Durability: Vampires can withstand a lot of physical damage without being hindered. They can continue to fight even after being shot with wooden bullets, as long as they are not hit in the heart or head. However, they may still react to physical force in a human-like manner, especially young vampires. They can also be stunned or dazed by strikes and trauma, although their tolerance for it will increase as they age.
- Regeneration: Vampires have a remarkable ability to heal from physical damage within seconds to minutes, including broken bones, gunshots, and stab wounds. However, they still feel the pain of a wound before it heals. Their healing is slower if they feed on animals rather than humans. A werewolf bite is the only injury that a vampire cannot heal on its own, and they cannot heal magical or psychological damage. Vampires cannot grow back body parts, but they can reattach severed limbs.
- Enhanced Emotions: Vampires experience emotions more intensely than humans. Positive emotions such as love and happiness are magnified, but negative emotions such as sadness, guilt, and anger are also amplified, which can lead to vampires turning off their humanity to block out these emotions. This makes them more calculating and direct, but also turns them into remorseless killers. Turning their humanity back on is difficult as they will feel all their repressed emotions intensely, and this ability fades with age. However, with practice, vampires can learn to control their emotions without turning off their humanity.
- Inmortality: Vampires stop aging after they are turned and become immune to all conventional illnesses and infections. However, if a human has cancer at the time of their transformation, the newly-turned vampire will still have the disease and their healing factor will speed up the cancer's progression, often leading to the vampire's suicide.
- Mind Compulsion: Vampires possess the power to manipulate thoughts, emotions, and behavior, and can even modify or erase memories. However, there is a hierarchy in terms of this ability, with Original vampires having a stronger form of compulsion than others. Vampires can only compel humans and not other supernatural beings.
- Blood Ties: Blood Ties can occur when a human is turned into a vampire with the blood of a vampire they had romantic feelings for. Those with a sire bond are extremely loyal to their sire and will comply with their requests, even if they don't want to. However, the bond only affects their behavior, not their true feelings towards their sire.
- Telepathy: Vampires have a form of telepathy that allows them to enter the minds of humans and other supernatural beings through tactile contact. It is a difficult ability to master and is usually learned after mind compulsion. The ability weakens a vampire, and it's harder to enter the minds of ancient vampires and Originals. The ability can be used to sort through memories and communicate mentally in emergencies.
- Dream Manipulation: Vampires can use their telepathic abilities to control dreams and the subconscious of humans and other vampires. With this skill, they can create, modify and manipulate dreams, and even induce nightmares and lucid dreaming. It is easier to learn than other forms of telepathy, and vampires can even manipulate the subconscious of an Original vampire if they are vulnerable enough.
- Illusions: Vampires have the ability to create illusions in the minds of other vampires, causing them to see or feel things that are not real. This was demonstrated when Lexi made Stefan believe that he had been deprived of blood for years.
- Bloodlust: A vampire with bloodlust is their appearance hidden under their normal human face. It reveals blood-red sclera, dark veins under the eyes, and extended fangs, which can include their canines and/or premolars. It can be revealed at will or when aroused by blood or intense emotions. The fangs are sharp and can tear into almost any substance. The true face appears for the first time when they drink human blood for the first time or shortly afterward
