Perfect is the enemy of good, and I don't care much about good!
~ Night Swan

Leda Nox, better known as Night Swan, is the villainous coach for "Witch" by Apashe featuring Alina Pash in Just Dance 2023 Edition and serves as the main antagonist of the story-based playlist for the game, "Enter the Danceverses". She returns in Just Dance 2024 Edition as the main antagonist of that game's story playlist "Dance with the Swan."

She was originally portrayed by Shirley Henault but is currently portrayed by Maïwenn Bramoullé.

Personality[]

A ruthless performer and sorcerer, Night Swan is an enigmatic figure who abducts coaches with the power of dark spells, trapping and sending them to her own personal dimension, where she twists them as part of her ever-growing army. A firm believer of perfection and order, she despises the Just Dancers because they do not dance perfectly, and believes her army will cause everyone within the Danceverse to become perfect. Her character may represent those who play Just Dance games and strive for perfection instead of having fun.

Night Swan appears to have a strained relationship with her son, as she seems to see him as simply another one of her minions and is shown during Jack’s dance routine watching him practice performing, offering no help or hindrance. She is also shown arguing with him about his affiliation with the Just Dancers, and briefly turned Wanderlust into her minion seemingly just to freak out her son, who has a close relationship with Wanderlust. She also corrupted his friends seemingly to also freak him out, as she wants him to remain loyal to her no matter what the cost.

Biography[]

Night Swan: The Prequel[]

Murder On The Dancefloor[]

Night Swan is actually revealed to be a human from our world; real name "Leda Nox". We can see her and The Traveler dancing together, potentially signaling some sort of love between eachother. At the end of this routine, The Traveler ends up opening a portal back to earth, however Night Swan closes the portal on her own.

Darkest Hour[]

TBA

Enter the Danceverses[]

Can't Stop the Feeling![]

She made her first formal appearance within the series by emerging at the end of the routine "Can't Stop the Feeling!", where she abducts four backup dancers and leers menacingly at Sara and Wanderlust. The duo retreat to Luz Solar Retail Therapy[1] to make an attempt at stopping Night Swan.

Witch[]

In "Witch", Night Swan is the main performer. Her routine shows her dimension, called the Swan Tower, where she gathers and summons her minions, whom she had twisted into humanoid entities with swan-like feathers, to invade various parts of the universe. At the start of the routine, Night Swan sits on the throne, with Jack Rose standing next to her. As she steps down the staircase to a circular platform, she is accompanied by her army, with four of them (P2 of "Sweet Sensation", P3 of "I Like It", Kery Party, and P2 of "Temperature", whom she abducted at the end of "Can't Stop the Feeling!") serving as her backup dancers.

During the transition to the beat drop, sections of her throne room slowly rise up, revealing dimensional arches that leads to the backgrounds of "Can't Stop the Feeling!", "I Like It", "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", "Physical", "Rather Be", "Sweet Sensation", "Temperature", and other unidentified maps. In the end, her minions remain trapped in the curse.

Locked Out of Heaven[]

Night Swan also appears in the background of "Locked Out of Heaven", where she is revealed to be the mother of Jack Rose, the main coach for that routine who also was beside her at the beginning of “Witch”.

Majesty[]

In "Majesty", Night Swan's enemies, the Just Dancers (Wanderlust, Brezziana, Sara, Mihaly, and Discoball), are participating in a dance battle in an attempt to free Night Swan's minions. Night Swan appears on the large monitors surrounding the stage that Jack and Wanderlust are fighting on. At that point, she possesses Wanderlust, turning him into a soldier. Later, she and Jack appear to have an argument, after which she storms off. After all the back-up dancers she abducted at the end of "Can't Stop the Feeling!" are freed, Night Swan battles Sara. In the end, Night Swan retreats to Cygnus, her place of origin[2].

Dance with the Swan[]

Canned Heat[]

Night Swan appears at the end of "Canned Heat". She reveals herself after disguising herself as Sara, kidnapping Discoball and turning her into Dark Discoball.

you should see me in a crown[]

Night Swan appears as P2 in "you should see me in a crown". She briefly disguises herself as Wanderlust to lure Sara into a trap, to which Sara successfully falls for. In this routine, Night Swan ends up slowly corrupting Sara by showing her what she's been through. At the end of this routine, she successfully transforms Sara into Dark Sara

Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)[]

Night Swan appears in the background of "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You). She is seen briefly at the end of the routine through a portal as Wanderlust recruits Brezziana.

Never Be Like You[]

Night Swan appears in the background of "Never Be Like You". She is seen during the final post-chorus, spying on Mihaly through Dark Discoball. She is seen again at the end of the routine through a portal as Wanderlust recruits Mihaly.

Treasure[]

Night Swan appears at the beginning of "Treasure". As Wanderlust attempts to recruit Jack Rose, Night Swan dissipates the portal. She shows Jack an alternate reality-esque reflection of himself.

Swan Lake[]

Night Swan appears in the background of "Swan Lake". She is seen briefly at the beginning of the routine before she flies to the head of her ship. She is seen again in the background after the Just Dancers have been corrupted.

Tainted Love[]

Night Swan appears in the background of "Tainted Love". Night Swan sits on her throne as the corrupted Just Dancers perform. She dances along to the music during the final chorus.

Cameos[]

Astral[]

She is first shown as one of the Tarot cards shown in the trailer for Just Dance Unlimited's season 1, titled "Astral", for a brief amount of time. In here, her card is shown with "XXVII" (27) written on the top and "X" (10) written on the bottom. The upper number holds no meaning, while the lower number is associated with the card "Wheel of Fortune".

Telephone[]

Night Swan runs a prison where she keeps the following Lady Gaga routine coaches captive: Louise Dials, Bonnie, Clyde, Adameve, Claire Obscure, Jane Wayne, Shadow Rider, Icona Shard, Indra, Aro'Ha and Countess Butterfly, along with several other unnamed background characters. She appears in the beginning of the routine for "Telephone", however only her hand is seen, pointing towards Louise Dials.

Enemies[]

Trivia[]

  • Night Swan's former performer, Shirley Henault, also played the heroes Sara and Liza Friday.
  • A tweet from the Just Dance Twitter account says that Night Swan’s favorite food is the hopes and dreams of her enemies.
  • The "Coach of the Week" post featuring Night Swan quotes the aphorism "Perfect is the enemy of good", likely referencing the "GOOD" and "PERFECT" feedback icons of the Just Dance series.[3]
    • The reference returned on a tweet posted by Just Dance on November 28, 2022, which states that Night Swan was corrupted by her obsession with perfection.[4]
      • The latter fact may also be a reference to the film Black Swan, which deals with the theme of perfectionism. This may have also inspired the coach’s name.
